1. I think you guys are tad bit over-confident in our scoring ability. Need to shave off about 2-3 points from every player. Not that those players aren't capable of those numbers but not on a Woody coached team. No way this team scores over 100 pts a game. We have the talent to, just not the coaching.
2. Babcock stayed too long?? It's kind of hard to fire a GM who consistantly puts up a winner. Sure he may not be as good a drafter as BK but that's because he put a winner on the floor and didn't have near the draft positions BK has had. If you are comparing the two only, I'd much rather have Babs STILL as our GM. Now I'd rather have neither one but Babs is 10x the GM BK will ever be. Again RIDER was the start of our demise. He is the Anti-Christ.
3. Quote: A Steve Smith departure here, Isiah Rider there That swap was the beginning of the end for us. Smitty, one of my fav players of all time, for one of the biggest low-lifes the NBA has ever seen set the tone for a decade of hell. God I love this team.
4. Quote: I feel sorry to see him go after such a nice gesture Not me. Lo... Don't let the door hit ya where the good Lord split ya!!
5. Quote: You D@mn right, Smoove may not be our best player but ,he is the face of this franchise..... We need to build around Joe and Him.... I agree however, if we got back an Amare or a Duncan then I say good riddance. He may be the face of the franchise but there are players I would trade him for in a heartbeat. I'd take the face of about 15 other franchises out there over the current face of the Hawks.
6. Quote: I just know one thing, If we trade away Chill or Smoove I am done with this franchise....... Even if we get someone better than either in return? This franchise has done dumber things.
7. When comparing BK's basketball knowledge and GM skills to our very own HawkSquawk members he would seem to have the upperhand. However, when comparing him to other team's GM's I'd venture to say his IQ is near the bottom. Look, the man said Acie Law reminded him of Mark Jackson. Of course he said that Acie was a better scorer and Mark was more of a floor general but he reminded him of Jacson non-the-less. How is it possible to even make that comparison? Take away Jackson's passing and he fails to be Jackson. Hell, he fails to have ever been in the NBA. That's like saying Hakeem reminds me of Deke. Hakeem had better post-up game and Deke was a better defender but they still reminded me of one another. Now I'm not claiming I could come close to doing a better job than BK, I'm simply claiming there are at least 50 people in the NBA that could. He's not that bad at drafting talent (with his high picks he should be decent) but he simply can't put together a winner. THAT IS A FACT. Time will tell but all these lottery slections (decent players I might add) over the years should have gotten us out of the lottery by now. At least above .500. We haven't even gotten close. You can defend the man all you want but his record speaks for itself. Thank you, Thank you, you're too kind.
8. Quote: Quote: Where does your imaginary 1% chance come from dude? I know our chances of making the playoffs are not less than 1% when we are only 4 1/2 games back of the last spot. How did you come up with that number? It is Walter's number. Search some of his recent posts and you will be able to find the computation. It is roughly based on what record he expects to be necessary to get the 8th seed based on the history of EC playoff finishes and his estimation of our likelihood of reaching that number. Walters number huh? Is this the same calculation he uses to come up with Marvin's age?
9. Quote: It's still funny to see the tanker crowd booing the Hawks victory!! keep it up fellas. Maybe you can motivate Smoove and JJ to carry us to the Championship! Crowd? What crownd?? I thought 3 was a crowd. I only count two singing this risky song. And that's two too many if you ask me. Yes let's risk our future with the hopes that we get the number one pick, while hoping he comes out, while hoping his supreme (giggle) college stats translate into that of Shaq himself and not into another Laettner (although his college stats are comparable). Good god what a no-brainer. And his argument is FOR playing the odds.
10. No, what went right is we played a team with only 8 players playing. Is that box score correct? Did the Clipps only play 3 subs?? About time the shoe was on the other foot.
11. Quote: Quote: - He only got jerked in and out of the game in the 2nd quarter. And that was strictly because of the personnel that the Clips had in the game at the time. The true idiots are those of you who understand nothing about how to manage a basketball game.
Idiots huh? LOL. Stictly because of the personnel huh? Clipps played 8 players that game and only one forward was subbed. I find it hard to believe Aaron Williams would cause anyone to determine who is subbed in against him. Now I admittedly wasn't able to watch the game and am strictly going by the box score off Hawks.com but come on man, if it's true they only played 8 players I'm sure our substitutions had nothing to do with their personnel.
12. Quote: Sinner, you actually have to watch the game. If the Hawks lose by 2 and it was a tightly contested game and JJ put up 34 points in a shootout with Michael Redd then of course JJ gets some cred... However, if the Hawks lose by 35... we were never in it. The 2nd team for Milwaukee is on the floor at the beginning of the second hald and Redd plays 16 minutes and sits the rest of the game. If all the Bucks starters are on the bench smiling while Marvin scores 25 on Gadzuric, Skinner, Noel, Bell, and Blake.. then how much cred does Marvin get?? I'm not saying that the Toronto game was a blowout. We kept it within 10 points, but when you watched that game, the competitiveness was not at a high level. Both teams played weak defense. They were shooting 64% and we were shooting 53% at one point in the game. Well then apparently YOU did not watch the game. I'm pretty sure Marv scored plenty in the first half of the game being discussed. The starters are still in then aren't they? 2ndly you guys are coming at me like I'm some kind of blind Tar Heel homer. Not even close, Im a Dukee who saw Marvin have a decent game WHILE THE HAWKS WERE STILL IN IT and will give his hated rivel his due LAST NIGHT. I will agree with you that the D was extremely weak, but that still can't discredit a player performance. No one else with all of that weak D put on much of a show from our side.
13. Quote: Quote: Yet you have one of the most inconsistant players (based on potential)we have as your SN. Actually Smith a very strong stretch of games before he got hurt. In 12 december games he averaged 13.4 ppg on 80% shooting 8.4 rebounds 3.8 assists 1.7 steals 2.83 blocks He also played at a consistently high level the last three months of last season. Not too bad. But outside of those 12 games when everyone was talking about how bad he was playing what were his averages? 12 games plus a few earlier does not a consistant season make. Now Im not bashing Smoove, I like Smoove, I'm simply asking a poster not too put themselves on such a high horse when it comes to judging players on consistancy when Smoove is their favorite player. I think that's a reasonable request.
14. My question is, if Oneal wants to leave because the Pacers have no shot at a championship, why the hell would he OK a trade to come here? And trust me he would have the final say with a trade. You guys are nuts sometimes. An even bigger nut if you honest to god want Webber. Diesel do you post things to simply confuse people about your sanity?
15. Quote: Solomon's stat line last night: 7 minutes 6 points 3 - 3 FG 2 offensive rebounds 1 turnover 3 fouls But once again, Woody is the idiot . . lol. Pay attention Hawk fans. Just don't be blinded by your hatred toward the coach, organization, or a particular player that you don't like. So by my math he still had 3 fouls to give. No? How does comitting only 3 fouls get you off the floor? He needs the PT if he fouls out so be it but his PT is far more valuable for our future than the few points he gives up at the foul line. Even that is arguable cause if they are hard fouls that stop lay-ups then I'm all for it.
16. And for those who discredit players' performances simply because the Hawks get blown out then you must igonre most of J.J.'s performances or anyone else's for that matter because we lose a lot of games. Sorry, that makes little sense to me. It's not a players fault if no one else steps up. You still should give that player their cred for the game or else J.J. simply doesn't deserve an all-star appearance because most of his performances didn't count. Whatever.
17. Quote: I dont give praise to players who have one good game out of 5 games. Sorry thats showing up when you want to Yet you have one of the most inconsistant players (based on potential)we have as your SN. Go figure. And by the way, based on that logic the only person you can really praise is J.J. He's the only player that has strung together any kind of consistant play at a high level. From now on I expect ALL of your positive posts to be about J.J. based on your own criteria. Enjoy.
18. That wasn't Lenny coaching us in the wrong direction, that was our GM GMing us in the wrong direction. You give J.R. Rider to any coach and I guarantee you they wouldn't compete. Even Phil Jackson, the King at getting talented rejects to play to their potential couldn't do anything with him. Problem was not Lenny, that's for sure.
19. Quote: Chillz, I absolutely don't believe BK is taking us in the right direction. Same as I thought Lenny was coaching us in the wrong direction. I treated them the same and posted about them in the same manor only you agreed with me about Lenny Wilkens and didn't question my approach or fan credentials. Why you do now is disengenuous and frankly small of you. I want title contention. That's the only reason you leave mediocrity to go through 13 win seasons. If you insist "wait and see" is more team patriotic, then wave your flag of patience proudly. That is not my opinion! Got it? Good. W Lenny coached us in the wrong direction?? Are you kidding me?? That was one of the best Hawks squads we've EVER put out on the court. I hope to God BK coaches us in the same direction Lenny did. Too bad that squad wasn't a little deeper or younger. Actually there's no telling how far we could have gotten in any of Lenny's years had there been no MJ in the league.
20. Quote: Quote: In your own words, tell me.. What was the purpose of us getting JJ?
Simple. To win games. Which is why we do everything. At least that was/is the plan. What other answer could there honestly be?
21. Quote: Kentucky is still the daddy of them all, I'll concede that. I hope Roy can close the gap a bit on a few of those categories - National Championships, total wins and winning percentage. The conference championships thing is as apples to oranges as it gets! No argument here. As much as I hate UNC (although with much respect) I shiver when I see Kentucky in Dukes bracket. They seem to always knock out my Dukees in the tourney. I'd rather play UNC.
22. Quote: Quote: it took Coach K a while to run plays for Sheldon as well Coach K never ran plays for Shelden. He actually ran less when SW was a senior than when he was younger. K became more and more dependent and obsessed with Redick all the time, and that's why the program fizzled out each season of their 4 years. JJ and Shelden we're a part of one of Dook's most hyped freshman classes, and they left without a championship...thank goodness. Had Shelden been the center piece of K's last two teams, I think they would have won at least one title. But I digress...K sucks. Stated like a true Queerolina fan. Blue Devils!!!!
23. Quote: Quote: This is funny. Shelden is one of the top 3 or 4 rookies in the entire league right now, and there are still people belly aching saying that he wasn't worth the 5th pick. I mean come on KB. You are a farce. You vicerally HATED the mere notion of SW as a Hawk's draft pick until it was certain BK would do it. In fact, you might have been the biggest SW detractor prior to BK's "promise". Where did your integrity go? SW's was the most NBA-ready player in the draft. No doubt there. Over the next three years many MORE players will catch and pass him, including many drafted after 5. Strawman is your specialty, however, KB. That and contradicting yourself because you are enamored with BK. W There's nothing wrong with changing your opinion on a player after you see you were wrong. Perhaps you should try it. Integrity?? Being able to admit you were wrong (whether or not he openly admitted it) shows far more intergrity than sticking with a decision soley because it was yours even though you were wrong (Sheldon being better than any draft pick YOU mentioned or anyone selected ahead of him PROVES you were wrong). That's not integrity. That's stupidity.
24. Quote: Quote: Quote: Quote: I think Claxton got a 4 year deal with around 6 million per just off the top of my head without googling it. I'm glad to see others are questioning why we wasted cap space on him though. Claxton got injured. it was a freak occurence. all of a sudden the Hawks "wasted" capspace? BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO I invite you to look at Claxton's injury history over his career. If he doesn't fit the description "injury plagued" to a "T" I will eat Walter's hat. a broken hand though? freak occurence. I had this same argument several years ago on the AOL message board with Hendu. My thought was he was injury prone and we should keep L8r. Other poster thought a poked eyeball was more of a freak accident than an injury. Conclusion.... Hendu like Speedy was DNP prone. Argue all you like whether or not Speedy is accident prone or injury prone or whatever prone, fact remains he is prone to missing basketball games.
