  1. So his strongest selling point is his POSITIVE relationship with Woody? So what kind of leash will Woody get with Kingt? .025%? One of the positives about getting a new GM should be that he would want his own coach. This is the absolute worst thing that could happen this offseason (get a mediocre GM that LIKES Woody). M'r F'r. I've been putting up with this team for a long time and even despite our first playoffs in forever, I am loosing faith all over again.
  2. Quote: Smoove obviously doesn't like Woodson and wishes him gone. I have seen Smith walk back to the bench and flat out IGNORE Woodson yelling directly at him. Until we get a coach that Smoove will respect and pay attention to, he will not progress. Lets face it, the guy was still shooting long jumpers in the playoffs and the announces are asking why? Do we want another year of that? ASG: Please replace Woodson! We need it for Smoove's development. Thank you. All this "who do we trade" talk is rediculous. Get a coach in here who can actually develop these young guys and we have a decent team, with a decent bench. Add a big or two and we're right back in the playoffs with a possible opening round home-court advantage. The players aren't the problem, it's the coach. As evident by the numerous times announcers would say...."how did this team loose that many games". EVERYONE seems to realize this minus the few Woodson fans.
  3. Quote: Quote: Quote: Quote: I think it's because Smoove tries. 22 and trying vs. 21 and not giving a damn are two different things So now Marvin doesn't try and he doesn't give a damn? You are unbelievable sometimes D. Dude. The proof is in the play. Honestly, do you see any passion in Marvin's play when the game is on the line? I'm not talking about garbage time or midgame when we're just going back and fourth or the game doesn't count. I'm talking about when we need points.. Where's Marvin? I put my GPS on him.. I'll tell you where he is.. He's standing on the high post hoping that somebody would throw him a pass. But his arms are down and he's watching the play develop just like I am. That might not be doesn't give a damn, but it's in the neighborhood. So Marvin played with no passion in Games 6 & 7 when the season was on the line? Diesel your comments are ridicoulous. The difference is just that Josh makes ooh and ahhs plays. They both have issues that they need to solve Marvin's is more of an physical issue and Josh Smith's is more of a mental issue. Problem is only one of those issues is actually solvable. You can't turn a duck into a swan, but you can change a schizophrenic into at least a walmart greeter, with good meds.
  4. Quote: Woodson out-coached D'Antoni twice in four games with less talent. When the DAntoni's, Carlyle's, Karl's, Brown's, Johnson's of the League get Fired, why do their names pop up? I'll keep Woody and add pieces. When the guys do what Woody prepares them to do, they win. 2 games? LOL! D'Antoni has won more games in 1- 1/2 seasons, than Woody has his whole career (I know that's not correct but you get my point). I'd take him and Avery in a heartbeat over Woodson. This team is winning right now on emotion, NOT coaching. As soon as the past two games got into a slow down half-court game our offense struggled BIG TIME. You can not win on a consitant basis in a season on emotion alone. At some point you have to have some kind of offensive strategy. Not to mention, we have a very legit bench not getting any burn whatsoever. Even Solo preformed decent in his 2 mins only to not get any action for the rest of the game. Even when the starters played the entire 3rd period while the Celtics extended their lead. I will give Woody credit for putting Smith back in the 2nd even though he had 2 fouls. Sad when you have to give a coach credit for simply not doing what he NORMALY does.
  5. Quote: Quote: The problem is that he used the word typical. That is an ignorant word to use when describing anyone because whether it's true or not it will make people defensive. On the pastor thing, Obamas pastor brought this on himself with his remarks. I'm sure if the pastor for any of those people you mentioned make an ignorant remark in the middle of their campaign for president it would cause a major reaction just like this one. Obama shouldn't be held accountable for someone else's words but it's a natural reaction for people to worry when he has spent so many years of his life being taught by this guy. I agree with what you've said. Typical does put the people on the defense. However, his context was the racism that has been bred into our society. Sort of like saying Obama's daughter is the typical teenager. She watches MTV and BET and participate in sleepovers with her friends. Sure... it stereotypes his daughter and teenagers... however, is it wrong? You've never heard of John Hagee huh? I happen to like Hagee but he's McCain's pastor and he says a lot of inflammatory things. However, McCain has never been linked that what Haggi says. Now, Hagee has called the catholic church "The Great Whore," the 'apostate church"," the 'anti-Christ'" and a 'false cult system'. However, how much has McCain had to defend his pastor?? The fact that Obama had to make a speech and was pressured to publickly throw his pastor under the bus and no other presidential candidate in history had to defend their pastors says alot! Ok, stereo typing an age group is not the same thing as stereo typing a race. How is it that Obama is getting the short end of the stick for having to defend his pastor? How many other candidates would even be afforded the opportunity to defend theirs if they talked about black america with such hate? NONE. Their presidential hopes would have ended right then and there. I have officially stopped posting in this thread as some of your views absolutly baffle me. I'll try and stick to Hawks threads from now on. Wow. Just wow.
  6. Quote: The two quotes are the same, but you're ignoring the context (and thus, the point.) She's not afraid of blacks because she's white, and she's not "typical" (pejorative) of white people because she's afraid of blacks. She's white, and she's afraid of blacks. This is what our culture hath wrought. The point is that Obama believes, as Jesse Jackson believes, as I believe: the average (i.e. 'typical' .. not pejoratively used) white person in American society feels fear when he sees an unknown black person walking towards him on the street. (Replace black with Arab, or even Latino, and the point remains.) First, does anyone disagree with this? It's not racist against whites to point this out. If anything, Obama is condemning black culture when he said this, within the larger condemnation of the state of racial affairs in America. Jesse Jackson was far more clear with his condemnation. Ignoring the context? The context is the same and it is clear as day. He made it crystal clear that a typical white person feels uneasy towards blacks. How can you read anything else into that? It was nearly word for word. Stop over-analyzing and simply read the quote. That's exactly what the OP said, and that's EXACTLY what Obama said. When someone says a race "typically" does something it is called stereotyping. I guess you're not even arguing what he said, you're implying that it is true. Which is on a completly different level of ignorance as you are someone who obviously steroe-types entire races'. And for the record, I absolutly do not agree with his, your, and Jessies assesment that "most White America fears unknown black men walking towards them". I can not believe that there are people that actually would believe this. Much less admit it. Doesn't shock me the Jessie Jacksons of the world, but you? 2008? White America may feel uneasy when they see a black man (or white man) with a hoodie on with his pants to his knees walking down the same street (arguable). But if a black man wearing a suit was walking down the street most of white america would not think twice about their safety. Most white americans don't fear black men. They fear criminals. BIG difference. If he was condeming black culture then he should have added ..."as well she should have been uneasy because a typical black person would have mugged her. " He wasn't comdeming anyone or any race. He generalized a whole race, intentional or not, that he's in no position to be generalizing at this point in the game. In light of his recent mistakes, it has to make one wonder what kind of decision making prowess he posesses. That's kind of an important trait for our country's leader don't you think? I do, which is why I am officially off the bandwagon. Great, that leaves no-one.
  7. Quote: Anyone who doesn't at least give it a 9/10 is clearly a nihilist Or you give me what you have in your pocketz and wez call it evenz.
  8. Quote: Quote: This morning he said his grandma was a " typical white person " because she gets worried when she see's black people walking down the same side of the street as her. What he said is: Quote: I can no more disown him than I can disown the black community. I can no more disown him than I can my white grandmother -- a woman who helped raise me, a woman who sacrificed again and again for me, a woman who loves me as much as she loves anything in this world, but a woman who once confessed her fear of black men who passed by her on the street, and who on more than one occasion has uttered racial or ethnic stereotypes that made me cringe. These people are a part of me. And they are a part of America, this country that I love. Quote: The point I was making was not that my grandmother harbors any racial animosity. She doesn't. But she is a typical white person who, uh, if she sees somebody on the street that she doesn't know there's a reaction that's been been bred into our experiences that don't go away and that sometimes come out in the wrong way and that's just the nature of race in our society. We have to break through it. I don't think his statements are the same as your summary. Actually, it's exactly like his summary without all the sugarcoating before or after. Here I'll show you... Obama Quote: she is a typical white person who, uh, if she sees somebody on the street that she doesn't know there's a reaction OP Quote: This morning he said his grandma was a " typical white person " because she gets worried when she see's black people walking down the same side of the street as her. What's the difference in the above two quotes?
  9. Quote: Anything less than a 9/10 on Lebowski and a person losses all credibility for rating movies in my book. That is one of the best movies ever made. Couldn't agree with you more Dolf. The Big Lebowski is easily one of my top 3 movies of all time. Any one who barely puts it over a 6 really shouldn't be rating movies anyway. But if he is just now getting around to Fargo then he's behind on some classics. I would encourage people to watch it more than once. For some reason I thought it was so-so the first time I watched it. It seemed to get better and better each time thereafter.
  10. I thought that was the whole point of him taking his core, or pilates, classes. The lower back is part of your core. Let's face it. We can hope Marvin can become a real #2 pick all we want. The fact is MARVIN doesn't want to become a #2 pick. That's from the horses', er ducks', mouth.
  11. I think 2 years should sufice. I will give you credit though, most people jump to a team when the team actually has a bandwagon. Now that I think about it, maybe you do have some Hawk DNA embedded in you. Only someone with a Hawks fan mentality would actually start cheering for loosers. Sorry, man. Don't get to read the boards much and it seems like all I've read from you were complaints. Well the way we've been going lately everyone has been complaining because there isn't much to say otherwise. Welcome to our hell. Please don't leave if we start winning.
  12. Quote: Bibby has had plenty of looks from three, and he's bricked the hell out of pretty much everyone of them. Not sure how the other posters feel, but I for one find it hard to listen to someone of your hawk "fandom" constantly bash this team. It doesn't bother me so much when the other guys do it. Perhaps it's because I know most of them have suffered with this franchise for many, many years. Nothing personal, it just rubs me the wrong way. If you're only a "fan" because they're the only team you can watch now that you live here, I can only say get the League Pass and move on brother.
  13. Quote: Wow. He is playing hurt and playing poorly yet Woody still plays him 41 minutes. Woody's stupidity is leaving me at a loss for words. Not just 41 minutes, but key moments when we need a stop. Like the last few seconds of the half. Stoppage of play, JJ picks up foul number two, in comes West. Perfect opportunity to put in Acie or anyone really, but instead leaves possibly our biggest defensive liability in the game. Freakin brilliant.
  14. Quote: You are a season ticket holder like I ama flocking Astronaut....a word you couldn't spell if I didn't give it to you - still, new posters are good to have. So unless you can spell Astronaut you're not a season ticket holder? Not sure I get the attack in this one JJ. I love how people on message boards are discredited simply because of their post count. Sorry, minor annoyance of mine. Now back to the OP... I think JJ is having an off year but trading him? We can trade till the cows come home but without a decent coach it won't matter much. I'd rather keep JJ as he's one of the few guys we have that can shoot the rock. And as we all know (Childress haters), the rest of the teams shooting percentage drops when we don't have a shooter in the lineup. Whatever the hell that means.

Quote: Quote: Ahh yes. Now I remember why I usually don't respond to your posts. Read your own post directed towards me and ask yourself whether and why you deserve any better. Quote: Why would you take the top five from each conference to prove the 10 best teams? If THAT'S your big argument then you ARE pathetic. Call it what you want, the average top 2 player Roland Rating of the top 5 teams from each conference for a total of 10 teams (snicker), the average of the remaining teams with winning records, AND the average of the remaining teams with a record better than our are ALL greater than the Hawks' top two players. In the entirety of my post the ONLY complaint you have is that I call top 5 in each conference "top 10". What a lame response. Do you even disagree with me? [censored] NO! You can't even post a disagreement, just a petty complaint. W It's simple really. There is no point in arguing with you Walter. I simply don't have the time to debate a 50 post long thread with someone who thinks including any eastern team in a discussion that includes "top 10 teams" makes sense. I never said I disagreed with you. I said your posts annoy the living hell out of me. So now you're simply arguing with yourself. Again with the name calling. I'm pathetic huh? What are you like 12 or something?

Quote: Quote: I guess Utah and Houston aren't top 10 teams. What's the pillepalle for except to demonstrate you didn't read the initial post of this thread. Neither Utah or Houston are top 10 teams when you take 5 from each conference as I did. Ahh yes. Now I remember why I usually don't respond to your posts. You have got to be kidding with the above. Why would you take the top five from each conference to prove the 10 best teams? That alone tells me you are a complete....(not going to give you the satisfaction of returning the name calling). Which reminds me, how are you not banned again?

Quote: Quote: Thank God someone disproved his ranting about our top two players...blah...blah...blah... crap. Hopefully I won't have to read the the words "Roland Rating" in another post of his. It's quite annoying. Although I should know better. That's a funny little pathetic comeback DSinner. Emotionally driven drivel. You don't like me, fine. I couldn't give a d@mn about you. But, you simply do not address a single point of the argument. I guess you have no point except ad hominem bullshit. Regardless, and I'll make this simple, name me a HSer that has UNDERestimated the Hawks' win total for the last for years. Just ONE. If you can I will accept that HSers aren't universally better at OVERestimating the Hawks and their talent. However, if over the last 2-3 years, a vast majority, perhaps even EACH and EVERY HSer including myself has OVERestimated the Hawks' win total for that year, then a reasonable man, a betting man can only assume that we too as a whole similarly OVERestimate our talent especially in the face of statistically overwhelming evidence that our top two players are not nearly (+5.35 vs +9.7) as talented at the league's top ten team's such players. I will also offer you a chance to prove yourself in another means. If you don't like the Roland Rating, fine pick ANY overall statistic. PER, TENDEX per48, other. I'll do the work for you if you're too lazy. Just name your "method". Certainly, if we are so talented then it will demonstrate itself somewhere and not just in the universally OVERestimating minds of HSers. Please, do something besides be a dumbass. Offer something of substance please. I've offered two opportunities to show up. W I'm being a dumbass with MY emotionaly driven drible? It must be your time of month because your response was full of Aunt Flows emotional goodness. I never said I didn't like you Walter (I don't even know you), I simply get tired of reading the exact same crap over and over in your posts. You've heard this before I believe. I for one agree with you that the Hawks are simply not that good of a team. Not because of some statistical site but because I watch nearly every game. It's obvious really. So obvious that it needs not be posted a million times that Mr. Roland himself claims that our two best players...blah....blah....blah... It's funny how you don't believe in th stat Ex is throwing out about Childress, yet you worship the stat that proves your point. Which even a rambling idiot like you should be able to see that stats are only what you make of them. And are only going to prove a point if the reader chooses to read the stat the way you want them too. Unfortunatly for you, your reputation isn't going to get many readers to see a stat the way you want them too. LIke I stated above, I'm not big on stats because no matter what method I throw out you will surely take it and prove it meaningless as ANYONE can with nearly any stat. I'd rather watch the game and make my own mind up. Oh, 2 times to show up? Please elaborate, I get confused on how many times I get tired of your posts I must have missed an instance. Cheers.

Quote: Just so you know, players like Kidd (+2.9), Carmelo (+3.3), Deron (+3.4), Wade (+6.4), Roy (+4.5), Kevin Martin (+4.7), Redd (+6.3), Deng (+1.1), Ray Allen (+2.3), Tmac (+6.3), Yao (+6.3), Jermaine (+0.4), Iggy (+3.6), Arenas (+2.4) ALL don't have impressive Roland Ratings. It's a skewed stat and definitely not an end all means of evaluating a player. I guess those players just aren't talented enough? *crickets* Thank God someone disproved his ranting about our top two players...blah...blah...blah... crap. Hopefully I won't have to read the the words "Roland Rating" in another post of his. It's quite annoying. Although I should know better.
  19. The point a lot of people seem to miss is the actual connection of his crimes to that of humans. What kind of person can put his hands around a dog (or any animal, for Diesel) and choke it to death? I won't even get into the other ways they killed them. You can argue the point that he never did anything to a human all you want but it still takes one messed up individual to be able to do that. No matter if you are an animal lover or not you have at least one screw loose if you have the mental ability to do it without remorse.
  20. I play a good bit. I agree it is the best b-ball game ever made. tag= bloodyurenus
  21. Don't worry he will sneeze in the wrong key and go back to Woody's doghouse soon.
  22. Quote: At first, I thought he was Horford. King Solomon has definitely gotten a lot bigger and stronger. He could be our defensive big that know his role offensively. Woody has got to use him more often. I'm glad he's getting a chance. He looked very promising last year, and can only get better with minutes. With ZaZa and co. struggling, why not play him? I simply don't understand Woody's doghouse. What could Solo possibly have done between the last game and today to get this PT? I'm sure it's very hard for players to understand exactly how to earn PT in coaches "system".
  23. Quote: this thread is bringing people out of the woodwork I don't even remember seeing post here before Not out of the woodwork, more like out of normal life. Sorry, don't have the time to post as much as some of you. But it does happen from time to time. Didn't you play Fantasy FBall? Maybe you remember the name ToeTaggers a little better.
  24. Quote: Well in all fairness Woodson's only been here three and a half years. You can't expect a coach to figure out his strategy / identity in that little time. On the plus side it should make it nearly impossible for the opposition to figure out our/his "strategy".
