Hubie always seemed like a good guy; but he needs to be carefull with quotes like "I could have made the playoffs last year with last seasons Hawks roster". Makes him sound a little senile if you ask me. Does he remember, or even know, that our starting five were only healthy and all on the floor at the same time for less than 25% of the season last year; and we were borderline good at best with them all on the floor... I have a hard time thinking any coach ever could have got us into the playoffs with all the injuries we had last year... Come on now if Woody got as 30 wins last season, i am sure that coach like Hubie would get us in the playoffs. He would have gotten at least 5 extra wins. I don't agree with that at all. The Hawks weren't ready to make the playoffs last year. They were a bunch of NBA babies. Heck they still are. Brown wouldn't have done any better considering the shortcomings on the roster. They seem to have been adressed through the draft along with another year of "growing up." The Hawks are built for the long haul as is. The Hawks underachieved last year they should of won 35 games at least. We barely won 30, and i am not sure how did we win 4 in a row with JJ out. Everyone on the board expected a playoff push and there was some people like myself that expected 40 wins. We beat some sorry ass teams at the end of the season that were missing key players. We might of been only 4.5 games out of the playoffs at one point late in the season, but there was no REAL playoff push which we expected even with JJ playing. the was is just that, the was. the is you are seeing on the court. If the Hawks had won the games you are suggesting they likely would have with Brown as the coach they would have wound up with no picks in this year's draft. instead they wound up with Acie Law and Al Horford. I don't buy into that though. I'll take that over a 9 seed. sometimes you can't see the forest because the trees are blocking your view. I understand, but we got lucky anyways. That's not the point though. Point is that we would actualy compete for a playoff spot under Hubie unlike with Woody.

  4. Quote: I can tell you 1 thing with certainty I've learned from the business I am in. If an old person catches you and gets you cornered they're going go talk your ear off. It's 100% accurate. Don't be shy in saying you have a previous appointment. That's true, but he was the one that left. He did most of the talking though.
  5. I was in this small restaurant called Mikes chichago hot dogs. My friend works there so i get a hookup. I was talking to my friend when some old guy came in. I knew it was Hubie, so i asked him when he ordered his food and he said "yea that's me" how you doing?. I asked him if he hwould coach the Hawks and he was like i already did in late 70's , but he said if he was at least 10 years younger that he would love to. He also said that Hawks have a great group of young guys which is pretty rare in Nba this days. He thinks that our GM did a great job and also said that if you build through the draft you will make some mistakes. He thinks that Woody is a wrong coach for this team and he said he would of made the playoffs with the Hawks last season. He also said that he couldn't believe when the Grizzlies traded Shane Battier for a prospect like Rudy Gay. He said he loved Battier and the way he played. He told me that he is broadcasting Nba on Abc this season so i asked him, How come the Hawks have no nationally televised games this season? He was surprised also and said i really thought that espn or TNT would pick up some of their games this season. He said that the Hawks need to win the games to get on TV because they don't have one player who is well known except Joe Johsnon whose game he likes, but he is not a player that WOWS the people. He is a really nice old man, i ve talked to him for about 30-45 min.

    Did......

Yea Diesel it did set us back 5 years, can you not talk about it no more cause it makes me sick to my stomach. I think it set us back more like 10 years because NOrleans has made the playoffs and we are not gonna make it in the next 10 years. Just give it a rest it's old..
  7. Quote: this thread needs to be deleted and a warning given...starting a thread with the sole purpose to bash people is ridiculous....if anything it should be in a different forum.. sounds like a debate team for kindergartners. Agree, Chillz or Kudzu need to lock this before it gets out of hand.
  8. Quote: Because last time I checked preseason doesnt count for jack when the season starts we will see who is the better option. Smith proved last year he can carry a team just look at his numbers the last two months esp. when Joe Johnson was out. He avged nearly 20 points a game with awesome numbers across the board you wanna give Marvin the 2nd scorer job based on what 6 preseason games that dont count sounds a little silly to me. Haha, gay lover!
  9. Quote: There is a Marvin billboard on International downtown. Is that the one that says "It's not how you start, It's how you finish"?
  10. Realgm Golden State What a bunch of douchebags!!
  11. Quote: Not happening, ATLANTA has more to lose by trading Smoove than they do by keeping him... What will we lose? Biedrinis is a better rebounder, good shotblocker and a better man to man defnder than Smoove. What are going to lose? That 16 points a game he scores on 43%fg? I rather have Biedrinis with 10ppg with a 60fg% than Smooves 16ppg with a sub 40fg%. Biedrinis fits the need, Smoove is a tweener. I can't believe you guys wouldn't trade Smoove for AB+Barnes who is a good defender and shooter which we need. If AB was older than SMoove i would understand, but they are the same age.
  12. Smoove to GS for Biedrinis and Barnes. What do you guys think of this lineup? pg-LAw/speedy/lue sg- Joe/chill/salim SF- Marvin/barnes/chill PF- Horford/shelden/solomon C - Biedrinis/zaza We can also throw in Salim if they want.
  13. I agree as well because Smoove is too inconsistent. I would like for him to do what he did in Decembar, when he avg..13pts but his fg% was high. I want to see these shooting numbers: 4-8, 5-10, 6-11..rather than this: 5-20, 4-14 and then a great shooting game like 8-12. That plus his all around game. I want him to average 14-17pts 9-11 reb with a 48%+ from the field this season. If he does that and Marvin keeps playin like he has in the preseason than look out.
  14. I just hope Mario "THE TANK" West makes the team. We need that kind of a player so baaad. ALL hustle baby, that's what wins the games. He will be my new favorite player if he makes the team.
  15. Quote: Stats for the 4 preseason games so far: J. Johnson: 18 - 39 M. Williams: 10 - 21 Horford: 4 - 9 S. Williams: 1 - 3 Childress: 1 - 3 Pachulia: 3- 10 J. Smith: 6- 20 Law IV : 1 - 7 I hope Smoove realizes that he needs to attack the rim and shoot more from inside before the season starts. I don't want to see 3-15, 0-7 type of performences every 2nd or 3rd game. That's why Smoove is not a good fit at SF with this team. I see some folks want this rotation: pg- Speedy Sg- joe sf-smoove pf- horford c- zaza How do we score with this lineup?? Teams will let us shoot all game, except JJ of course. This is the lineup i like: pg- Law Sg- Joe sf- Marvin pf- Horford c- Shelden No way teams will let us shoot the ball like they let Smoove.
  16. Quote: Interesting....but all signs would show that he is working hard. I find it hard to believe that all these off-season stories about him working on his game each summer are fake...I also find it so hard that he has improved so much each season if he doesn't work hard. That's what i thought especially after working out in Houston with you know who. I mean if his coach says that about him it's a big deal i guess, cause he is always around him.
  17. My working buddy is a good friend of David Fizdale. He asked David Fizdale this ofseason. "Be honest with me is Josh Smith a worker"? and he said NO, we are trying to make him into one. He also said that he gets distraced easily, maybe that's why he is so inconsistent.
  18. Let's face the fact here, Marvin is the only player on our team that can get you 15fta in a game. He needs to be consistent though.
  19. Quote: Quote: Darn Howard is BIG!!!! I hate that we didn't get him!! [/indent]
  20. Quote: Quote: 6. Claxton played well and didn't get injured tonight. Amen to that. Knock on the wood.
  21. Quote: I don't consider this a good victory. Howard went out of the game with 7 1/2 minutes left on the clock... Orlando was up by 9. He had dominated the post all game long. If we're going to be contenders, we got to do better! I agree if Orlando wanted to win as bad as we did they would have won. Marvin getting agressive in the 4th Qtr against the SL squad again.
  22. pg- Anthony J sg- Law sf- Joe pf- Chill c - Horf rigth now on the floor. Zaza comes back in, Horf coudn't guard Howard.
  23. End of the first quarter, Orlando is up 22-21. Smoove- 5 points Marvin- 4 pts Horford- 4pts
