  1. The thing that these novice writers from Bleacher Report don't understand is that we already have 2 2nd round picks this year (BKN and MIA's - MIA is protected 31-40 though). We don't need more 2nd round picks....

We actually coukd have 3. The Hawks pick traded to SA is top 55 protected. In the current standings, it would not transfer.

  2. I could see why Al didn't resign. He would likely be traded this week for a player like George and we would be loaded right now. Say what you want but he made the best decision for his career now looking at it. Maybe he didn't like Dwight, who knows.

I hope he realizes that at some point Boston will trade him before his contract expires.

I'd prefer Gallo but he's always injured, is a FA so we'll have him for 26 games without knowing if he's interested in resigning.

The Cavs pick is lottery protected. I read today that we can now add addt'l protections to other teams owed picks  (new CBA). So if he resigns the Cavs protection stands if he doesn't pick is additionally protectected 1-24 ( or something like that)

Gallinari would fit right in.  He can score from anywhere.  But, as you said, he's going to demand a lot of attention this summer so who knows what will happen.

I like Chandler as well but he's more of a slasher and plays around the basket.  Not ideal with D8 in the post.

I wish ATL had somebody who played with the confidence he has.

I don't know man.  I think Dennis is that guy for us.  Timmy is also becoming that type of player although he isn't as efficient just yet.

Thomas puts up big scores but he also takes 27%more shots than Dennis and plays 14% more minutes.  Given the green light, Dennis could get pretty close to the numbers Thomas puts up, but that's not really Hawks ball.

The one when a site is "partially" secure? If so that seems to be related to what you allow in Chrome for Hawksquawk. One of my Chrome browsers shows that but others show secured and Firefox shows secured.

It is working fine today.  My phone rebooted yesterday so maybe that's all it needed.

  6. Back on topic.  I like that the current regime realizes there is more to being "NBA ready" than shooting statistics or past performances in college.  They recognized the impact Timny would have if he just put in the work to be a step quicker and just a bit more explosive.

Im sure they see the same thing when it comes to our rookies, but also realize the rooks arent quite physically ready for big minutes in the NBA, which is a big step up from colllege ball.

I went ahead and added an SSL certificate to the site. You should be able to access it via https://www.hawksquawk.net now. Will have to transition images over to using https instead of simple http and then it will be "fully secure" but you can be assured that the site is secure.

    Dolf, thank you for this.

Just a heads up; I'm still getting the "exclamation point" warning at the top of Chrome on Android.  Tried logging out and back in, closed and reopened the site.

In the playoffs, you need people who can take and make their own shot outside of an offensive system.  Melo can do both . . . play within Bud's system, and score in ISO situations.

Keep in mind that the BIG complaint about Millsap, is his lack of clutchness down the stretch of games.  He's a good offensive player, but not necessarily a closer at the end of games.

Matter of fact . . . who is currently the closer for the Hawks?   Millsap?  Schröder?  THJ?

For my 2 cents our closer is Schröder.  The kid is cold blooded.

  9. Loved the balanced offence.  Totally slayed the two headed monster of Wade and Butler.

Boy do I wish Butler was a free agent this summer because the Hawks would stand a good chance of getting him after taking the Bulls lunch for 3 games this seson.

Believe their plan in the offseason was to improve rebounding and rim protection first and foremost. Think that was a legitimate strategy.

Yup.  Our defense is good as well. Need a couple pieces to improve our offense.

I wouldn't expect the Hawks to do much before the trade deadline but the draft and free agency are going to be very interesting.

I will give you Irving, Wall, and Lowry. After that I thinks its more subjective. Dennis is only 23 and he has really surprised me with his shooting efficiency this season; which is something I thought he would struggle mightily with.

I think he is a year or two away from making the all-star game but he is our version of Tony Parker in Bud's system. I like what he has done in his first season starting; I like it a lot. He has really helped shoulder the scoring load and Dennis is only going to get better.

I couldn't  agree more.   I'm sure Dennis will make the All Star team at some point in his career.

It's a little late to start voting now. Ballot is already open 4 a while. You should also use as many ways as possible to vote (NBA.com, twitter...) several times a day.

But after last years' results I'm quite sure ATL will never get a starter. Since Dennis isn't everybody's darling in Germany don't expect anything like Zaza's country men were trying to do for him...

All I know is; if you don't vote then Atlanta will never* get a starter.

*I know media and player votes count for more now so this isn't  entirely true.  Work with me here.
