  1. So basically your saying that Woody is NBA head coach material because he was a part of the Detroit championship run and he (supposedly) is a good defensive coach (really only in your eyes and some random media report). Thats definetly not enough to support your agument even if it was and he is a "good defensive coach" thats still not NBA head coach material, you have to have the whole package as well as command a certain level of respect from your players which he does not (and you cant even argue that). This is the NBA where people make millions of dollars to put a winning product on the floor, Woody can take his little "good defense" to a AAU where im sure he can maybe string together a few wins. I give Woody NO credit for us making the playoffs, when you had the roster we had last year the 8th seed in a weak eastern conference is not a accomplishment. And I think our constant losing patterns over the last decade or so has blinded some people's expectations.
  2. Cmon Swish, what are you a high school student? Real kidish to rephrase what I said to make it look ignornant. What I said was that after being a main assistant for 2 years under Larry Brown, arguable the best defensive coach in the league, Woody must have picked up SOME defensive knowledge. I never said he is good defensively, I just stated that he must have some foundation after his Detroit stint. So keep the little kid games to yourself, buddy.
  3. Oh ok that about clears it up, but i think its highly doubtful that we make a move between now and camp with Bibby. Probably just trade Solo for a 2nd then sign a veteran backup forward.... Donyell Marshall?
  4. I still dont understand where in this article, does this mean Bibby maybe leaving. All I see is that Solo maybe dumped in a trade for like a 2nd rounder and then we will sign another (hopefully) better player to take his spot.
  5. By "Clear-up" a roster spot dont they mean they want to get rid of a player or two for no or less players? Or am I reading this wrong.
  6. Your hypothetical is definetly silly, it makes no sense to limit the NBA to having only two coaches(Larry, Pops) that can command the attention and effort out of theirs respective players. There are many other coaches in this league that do a great job at getting the most out of their players thats what a coach is for, they design the plays make the speeches and run the practices all in efforts to put their team in the best position to produce. Woody has problem in all of those aspects listed and thats the difference between him and a good coach. Now I have no doubts that Woody has some good defensive knowledge in that thick head of his, and who wouldnt after being a main assistant under Larry Brown for a couple of years. So he has a good defensive foundation in his head but to be a head coach in this league you need to have the WHOLE package. Here's a list that consists of all the tools one needs to be a good coach in this league (ofcourse maybe missing some) check off how many Woody qualities actually has on this list compared to how many he doesnt have. 1. Ability to command respect from players 2. Ability to motivate players 3. Ability to develop young player prospects 4. Ability to make keen in game decisions 5. Ability to make good pregame strategies 6. Ability to exploit matchups 7. Good defensive knowledge 8. Good offensive knowledge 9. Ability to create a communication flow with assisitants 10. Ability to create a communication flow with players
  7. The forums over at RealGM are so touchy and sensitive, it feels like I cant even show any kind of emotion or human nature over there because those damn moderators are so petty about things, my account over there just got waived because I was on the new Oklahoma board and said its nice how RealGM replaced the old Seattle board and gave OKC its own board. Then I was waived for taunting! Seattle fans! Mind you that I posted that on the OKC board NOT the Seattle board. There so damn touchy over there and the mods are control freaks. Im actually kind of happy that I'm done over there, now I can focus on my beloved hawksquawk lol. Anyone else has any displeasures or had problems with RealGM?
  8. True, even though the Mo aquisition along with Morris dont make up for what Chillz brought I think they can be great additions and fit like Childress. But It still hurts to this day knowing that Woody will be on the sidelines, instead of a coach that couldve took this team over the hump like Avery, or others that were out there.
  9. Which hurt our teams outlook more? 1. Resigning Woody instead of hiring one of the other Elite coaches that were on the market. 2. Losing Chillz our 6th man to the European League Vote and then state your decision as well as reasons to why.
  10. In the original I gave my concerns through the point of Josh personally, true. But when you think about it, it can vbe best for the team in the long run maybe a loss like this (even though i doubt it happens, and we match) would prompt the league or even the fans like us to do more about the ASG and run them out of town. They certainly are not doing there part to create a future for us, there plans seem to be to live in the lottery, keep trying to get gems like Horf and Smoove, keep them for cheap (unlikely), then hopefully have enough underpaid frustrated gems to compete in the East while having a low payroll (super unlikely) And the League, the fans (like us), the city seems to not have a problem with this. Well buddy, I do, and if losing Smith to the Grizzlies increases the chances of people actually doing something to get rid of the ASG, even slightly. Then I'm all for it. If the ASG just matches, the idiots will be patting themselves on the back for getting him a affordable price, even though they hurt the player's psyche, the fan base, the city, possibly team chemistry, all while creating loads of bad PR around the league making us the Clippers of the East (Im not even sure, if we can be called the Clippers, our ownership maybe WORSE)
  11. Do me a favor, take my balls thrust them down your throat, gargle, then rinse. Gargle Hard! like so:
  12. Its not the fact that Josh is leaving which will make people lose interest in the Hawks organization and leave, Its the fact that with the ASG here there's no hope for the future.
  13. Since there is NO REASON to why they shouldnt match the 5 yr 58mil offer, lets just move on to the next question... whats the next move to improve our roster because as it looks I wouldn't bet that we make the playoffs. P.S: ASG, you idiots better not make me look dumb for doubting that you are STUPID enough to not match this deal.
  14. Yup I agree with you, the Grizz look like a team that wants to win alot more than our and looks like they want to put a winning product on the floor that the fans can embrace unlike the DAMN ASG. I would happily be a Grizz fan, since Smoove is my favorite player and they look like they want to compete. Conley-Mayo-Gay-Smoove WHOA! :no-no: Parker-Kobe-Tmac-Amare
  15. Im a big Hawks fan, been since 2001 (ok im fairly new compared to alot of you). But I'm a huge Smith guy and think the kid deserves so much better. Face it guys the ASG/Woody has treated this guy like some crappy role player, and it not's right. I think he would actually do so much better as a Grizzly, and in a few years can make that team into a contender. With Smith they have a AMAZING core that is arguably better then Portlands. Josh has all the reason why to want to leave the ASG, I think it would better his potential and psyche, I have no problem with Smith being a Grizzly. He'll be better off. Go ahead people..... slay me :saythat:
  16. Josh smith signs offer sheet with Memphis uhhh ohhh....
  17. Thats a trade i would do if I'm the rockets, but only if i knew the Artest deal was coming along with it. The rockets would have been much more balanced, and with Mcgrady being the type of player his is and relying on atheticism alot, I dont see it being too soon until he makes a major decline from superstar to borderline star like Vince Carter did. Chauncey, Ron and Tayshaun could be perfect compliments to Yao, like Horry, Kenny smith, Cassell were to Olajuwon back in there championship days.
  18. This guy is not the type of player we want, and I said it from the beginning the rumored Prince-Amir package is much more beneficial for our team chemistry. Josh Howard arrested for street racing
  19. As crazy as Diesel sounds, I have to say I fully agree with him. Its the cliche thing to root for a guy who's getting his degree, and furthering his education thats something that this society endorses. But, when you think about it, Marvin is in the NBA making millions and is in a contract year where he can earn way more money than his current 5.5mil. He should be fully taking advantage of the NBA experience and set out to improve and earn as much money as he can so that he can still support himself after retirement. With the pay he is getting right now does he really need to focus on his degree? Or should he be worried about ceasing the opportunity to make the most he can in the NBA, I mean think about. If the kid worries about improving his game and motivation to become a player that commands 10mil a year in salaries and does just that, if he handles his money correctly which isnt too hard he can live off of just that and support his future family too. For a kid like marvin who has not been what many of us wanted coming out of UNC, I think he should worry about his game and reaching potential instead of a history degree.
  20. Here's the real deal we need to look at with Chicago almost in the sam position we are, and there open to trade. Hawks trade: Josh Smith (5yr 60mil) Marvin Williams Chicago trade: Luol Deng (5yr 55mil) Joakim Noah Thabo Sefolosha Our new Lineup: Bibby/Law/Clax Johnson/Evans Deng/Thabo Horford/Zaza Noah/Morris/Jones Im not sure if we would have to add Speedy's contract in for cap purposes because of the BYU but if so im sure thats nothing but a plus. Deng is a perfect fit next to JJ, a very good defender who can relieve pressure of JJ on D everynight. Having the class act Deng over hear bodes well for the lockeroom and chemistry. But I like the idea of reuniting Horf with Noah as we all know they have great chemistry and success together with those florida championships, with their game developing together hopefully those wins and success translate over. Then the addition of Thabo Sefolosha strengthens the bench from all wing areas, he's versatile, agressive, and is a great finisher much like Chillz was for us. We would still have around 3mil to add another strong big if need be.
  21. Well if thats the way you guys want to look at we might as well trade Josh for anything, because as you said (and I dont really disagree with you) even if the players we aquire turn out good, ASG will lowball them and force them out during contract time. So this means we have a much greater problem at hand, not to find out what Smith trade has the best return value for us but instead how can we get rid of the main root to our problems, the ASG.
  22. Yea I think the fact that Noah and Horf have a winning history together can really translate when their both fully developed in the NBA.
  23. No thats what were saying he's ready to get minutes now, heck. Part of the reason why Saunders got canned is because Amir didn't get enough time in his 3rd year for a title contending team in the Pistons. Now for us I think he maybe a starter this year, and hopefully he does live up to that potential.
