  1. Can I just add Amir Johnson was the pistons 2nd leading shotblocker in just 13min of action  :Hypnotized:
  2. There is really a big difference between Solo and Amir. Amir is 4 years younger and is straight out of high school so him being on the bench for a title contending team while he was still developing is a normal thing. High Schooler's are known for being brought along slowly and developing, Solo is 25 and rides the bench for barely a playoff team, us. When Amir gets in the game he produces and shows his development and potential while only being 21. When Solo gets in he does nearly as much, most of the time he looks lost! In these years as Amir was still a teenager, his game has taken huge strides as he has been practicing against the top notch Pistons every day while dominating the D-leagues at just 19! Not only has his game been in the works throughout his early stages in the league, but apparently his body has been developing the kid came in at 6'9 and now he's nearing 7 feet and has been bulking up (Amir bulking up article) he has potential Center written all over him and next to Horf who will be now featured in his more comfortable role PF we can make some noise. The kid has been learning the game in Detroit and has extreme potential because he is about 7feet, very long, quick, can put the ball on the floor, superb shot blocker, and is almost Smoove athletic! If he can put it together like how all the Piston fans and Piston writers say he can, he will be a Steal
  3. To be honest I don't think that its so much of Sund just messing up alot this off-season as it is the ASG not caring about anything besides for running a cheap franchise. Thats a big reason to why Knight left, it was the ASG handcuffing him from making the best possible team he can.
  4. Lol thats cause your looking at it wrong, now like at it sideways. :P

  6. Does this look like another Soloman Jones to you? <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value=" name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><embed src=" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
  7. ">" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"> From the looks of it the Kid about 7 feet SUPER athletic, can put the ball on the floor, awesome shotblocker, and super potential (ala Jermaine Oneal?!?!) I think he may have some serious potential guys.
  8. Hawks Trade: Josh Smith (5 year 65mil) Marvin Williams Chicago Trades: Luol Deng (5year 60mil) Joakim Noah Thabo Sefolosha Hawks new lineup: Bibby/Law/Claxton Johnson/Evans Deng/Thabo Horford/Zaza Noah/Morris
  9. Ehh no I think it would have a chance to work because its fair on all sides but with the ASG as our ownership I dont see them being able to pull such a good trade like this is.
  10. This trade I think is a HUGE win for ALL teams and it works under the cap. Hawks trade: Josh Smith (5 year 65mil) Marvin Williams 2nd rnd pick Hawks get: Andrew Bynum Tayshaun Prince Amir Johnson Lakers trade: Andrew Bynum Derek Fisher Trevor Ariza Lakers Gets: Chauncey Billups 2nd rnd pick (ATL) Detroit trade: Tayshaun Prince Chauncey Billups Amir Johnson Detroit gets: Josh Smith Marvin Williams Derek Fisher Trevor Ariza I think this trade helps every team out and accomplishes what they want. Hawks new lineup: Bibby/Law/Claxton Johnson/Evans Prince/Evans/Richardson Horford/Zaza Bynum/Amir/Morris    Lakers new lineup: Billups/Farmar/Karl Kobe/Vujacic Radmanovic/Walton Odom/Newble Pau/Mihm/Mbenga  Pistons new lineup: D.Fisher or Stuckey Hamilton/Afflalo Marvin/Hermann J.Smith/Maxiell Rasheed/Mcdyess/Samb
  11. And for the record I'm not contemplating giving my allegiance to Portland because there on the way up, because if that was the case then why would I have became a hawks fan in 02'?
  12. Everybody obviously includingyou, wants to be the loyal dedicated fan in hopes of never being labeled as a "bandwagoner", its cliche to hate the bandwagon and say your a loyal fan. I have been a loyal fan to this team through many of the repetitive and seemingly obvious mistakes the management has made over these long and hard 7 years. Like most of us, I was sitting at those horrible drafts screaming at the TV, watching the same empty stadium every home game, and marveling at the despicable coaching tendencies of Woody. But like crimedog said its hard to put out time and money for a organization that doesnt care about its fans. As a Hawk fan I feel a bond to this team and like you all put myself through the constant crap that comes with being a Hawks, why? For the love of the team. And with the constant, avoidable mishaps the organization always engages in I FEEL DOWNRIGHT DISRESPECTED like as if all my time, dedication, and money invested in this team were just being ripped away by the ownership and kept in their pockets without showing us the fan any kind of loyalty back. So go ahead Hate me and call me the bandwagoner but I know that I put in just as much as you did into this team, and maybe you can tolerate being disrespected just so that you can have the "loyal" tag but not me, no one disrespects me.
  13. A milli remix for the Hawk Fan. Very funny but sadly true.
  14. As a proud Hawks fan since 2003, I've suffered through many repetitive slip ups by the ASG and always seemed to suck it up (like many of us fans) and keep supporting the team that I have been happy to call my own. But like many of us this horrible offseason has taken a toll and as much as I love the Hawks seeing a young hometown star with immense potential go without even wanting to, is the last straw. It if is for you as well, then the question is where to next? Personally, Im probably going to be a Portland fan with a soft spot for ATL and wherever Smoove lands.
  15. He was talking about the Dirk for smoove trade. :Silly: :Loser:
  16. It does kinda make sense because even with the mo signing we still can use anothe back up swing guy, because at 6-5 mo is more of a SG. Bibby/Law/Clax Joe/Evans Marvin/D.Brown Smith/Zaza Horford/Jones
  17. Yeah, I wasn't too impressed with Acie's performance. Back to the gym Acie!
  18. Sorry if this was already posted: Hawks interested in Devin Brown
  19. Quote: If everything that atown says about JR Smith is true, then George Karl is BY FAR the worst coach in the NBA. He's limiting the minutes of a future star, just to play AI at the 2 and Carter at the 1? ( edited ) Why not play AI at the 1, Smith at the 2, and Melo at the 3 most of the game? There has to be a reason why he doesn't do it, even though Iverson easily led that team in assists. So if he's not playing a potential "all-star" like JR, Karl is a HORRIBLE COACH. Worse than Woody. Maybe Karl isnt HORRIBLE. But alot of Denver fans do want him out because of his lack of stability in the rotation. And you ask why not play AI at the 1, JR at the 2 and melo at the 3? Because that rotation with AI at the 1 was not working for them as AI showed he wasnt comfortable running Karls system at the point, which expelled JR to the bench. Karl wasn't too happy with putting JR at the bench so he even experimented with JR playing the PG at times just to have the three best talents on the court but that failed so JR was reduced to a 6th man role. As I said Im also a nuggets fan, so i watch alot of the games (when the hawks were off).
  20. Quote: I don't understand you can irrationally praise a player like JR Smith, who is solid, but claim a player who has had a better career is worse and has no star potential. Marvin's defense is above average for a SF, and JR Smith's defense is below average for a SG. If JR Smith was the player you claim him to be, he would have started instead of come off the bench. He's a solid shooter, but he does nothing to deserve the hype you're giving him. To say J.R. Smith, a player who has played for like 3 teams in his 4 years in the NBA, can be a star and reply Marvin can't be a star makes it seems like you don't watch the team. I'm not taking anything away from JR Smith, but his 12 ppg and 2 rpg averages, coupled with the fact that he could not get over 20 minutes on a team that isn't necessarily loaded with talent makes me believe that he isn't a future star. Marvin, who came into the league a year later, averages 15 and 6 and is a good defender, and he has NO star potential ? I don't understand your logic. All the things that you've stated right there have nothing to do with why JR can be a star. In your post I just saw alot of the reasons as to why JR is a risk vs reward type player. The kid is still immature, which is his biggest problem and explains why he's been to 3 teams in 4 years and couldnt get over 20 min per game. But on the court theres no denying he's a stud. I say he has star potential because even though in his career up till now he has had many maturity problems (like smoove) which comes with young players, the talent he possesses if channeled right can be used to make him a all-star (which he was being considered as before the A.I trade in 07). Woody has dealt with Smith's personality and imaturity problems nicely and Smith is playing like a star for us and is arguable the fac of our franchise (to the casual fan). Imagine if JR's talent is chanelled the right way and woody got him on the same page as everyone else, theres no doubt JR would help the team make HUGE offensive strides, not hurt us defensively, and help our future financially. Marvin does nothing special for us that a guy like recently signed Mo evans would do for us if given the mintues and opportunity Marvin has had. I don't understand the Marvin hype to be honest he's a average player that has jus gotten more expectations and and more opportunity because he was the 2nd overall pick in 2004 (and wrongfully so). Im by no means a Marvin hater, I just think he should be utilized in a trade soon before his potential and value is exposed for what it is.
  21. Quote: Oh boy, If Woody is cool with JR, I'm trading. I'm starting Zaza/Kwame at 5, JSmith at 3 and bring in Speedy and JR for Bibs and Zaza/Kwame at the 7minute break. We scoring 30 points in the first every game. If the guy has matured or wants to mature he is an upgrade by athleticism, skills and heart. Oh yeah I make that trade, if the guy's head is straight. Lets just say good thing your'e not the coach Bibby/Law/Speedy Joe/Evans J.R./Evans/Richarson Smith/Zaza Horford/Kwame/Jones
  22. Quote: Quote: You cannot be serious, how is marvin a above average defender to be above average you must have something that seperates you from the group and marvin isnt anything spectacular defensively. The guy is average at best. . Williams is stronger at the defensive end, where he is quick enough to switch out against guards and has the size to bother opposing shooters. He does a solid job against most small forwards and can even play bigger shooting guards; the Hawks sometimes used him as a defensive stopper against A-list scorers, but this usually didn't work out well. It might turn out better in another year or two when he has more experience checking smaller players. And this is from Hollinger 2 years ago. after the 2006-07 season. All you really said there is that he is tall and quick, not that he's a good defender. You cant go around reading to find out if he's a good defender especially from a guy like Hollinger who like many ESPN writers dont give a damn to watch the hawks. Watch the games and its easy to see Marvin is nothing special defensively.
  23. Quote: Marvin is an above average defender and JR is a terrible defender. JR is not a good rebounder, and never will be. JR is not the better scorer. Marvin scored more points last year and got to the FT line much more. JR can shoot better, but Marvin puts more points on the scoreboard. JR is just about as good as he's going to be now, while Marvin still has plenty of tools to grow into a potent scorer (Mid-range game/ability to get to the FT line). If you really think JR is as good as or better than Marvin Williams, you've got something against Marv. You cannot be serious, how is marvin a above average defender to be above average you must have something that seperates you from the group and marvin isnt anything spectacular defensively. The guy is average at best. You sayd JR is not a good rebounder, JR has played the SG his whole life as opposed to Marvin who has played the SF/PF position and has is much closer to the basket and rebounding action. JR got only 20 min per game last season due to George Karls rotation flip flop tendencies and because of A.I commanding at least 30 min a game from the 2 guard spot. But even in that 19.2 min per game Smith got about half the amount of rebounds from the SG spot. For you to say that Marvin is a better scorer than JR and has more potential than JR must mean you don't know a lick about the NBA and your'e just a homer talking out of your ass. Cmon we all agree that JR is a much better offensive player as he almost average the same points as marvin in HALF the minutes while shooting the same percentage from the field. With JR being only 9 months and ten days older than Marvin for you to talk about there being a substantial difference in potential is not adequate. JR has the full package in talent and skills if he can just be developed correctly and begin to learn the right way to play the game the kid can be a STAR. Marvin has NO star potential.
  24. Wait quick stats for you guys: JR Smith MPG FG% 3p% FT% OFF DEF RPG APG SPG BPG TO PF PPG 19.2 0.461 0.403 0.719 0.6 1.5 2.1 1.7 0.8 0.2 1.51 1.90 12.3 Marvin MPG FG% 3p% FT% OFF DEF RPG APG SPG BPG TO PF PPG 34.6 0.462 0.100 0.822 1.5 4.2 5.7 1.7 1.0 0.4 1.59 2.80 14.8
  25. Quote: Quote: Alright we have our chillz replacement, and I must say Mo Evans was a good and cheap rebound from the Childress Europe fiasco. So lets say Smith is resigned and we also sign a nice big (Kwame or Morris) with the remainder or the mle. That means we will go going back next season with no major lineup differences, and I think in the vastly improved East getting back into the playoffs will be highly unlikely. But can we be missing a golden opportunity? Would a JR Smith/Marvin Williams swap really improve the starting line-up or would we just be trading away Marvin for a character issue waiting to happen? Talent/Skill wise there is nothing that Marvin posesses that JR doesn't but Marvin doesn't bring the coaching headaches that JR does bring. If we had a coach that was better with dealing with player personalities I would be all for a Marvin/JR swap. Thoughts No, and Hell no. JR Smith might be the better shooter and probably the better athlete. However, Marvin is a better scorer, defender, and rebounder. He's much more coachable than Smith, and is the all around better player. I think you're overrating JR Smith a little, don't let everyone around here hype you up too much.. Its not that I am being hyped by others, I just think that JR has some serious All-star potential. before the Iverson trade in 07' he and Carmelo we really leading the Nuggets to the best record in the West. The kid was getting all-star looks and made everyone happy when he was getting the playing time and opportunity to showcase his talent next to carmelo. But because of Iverson coming over and demanding the ball more along with that injury he had that hampered him the whole remainder of the season he was put in the infamous George Karl doghouse (which is known to be a easy doghouse to get into, but hard to come out). You talk about marvin being a better defender, scorer, and rebounder. Marvin is no elite defender he's average at best, with Smoove covering up alot of his defensive mistakes. JR was a decent defender when motivated with playing time, I am also a nuggets fan and watch alot of their games when im not watching the hawks. Late in the 07' season JR was fighting to get back into Karls everchanging rotation, and in early april he did by focusing on defense. Hands down the better scorer is JR, his 3pt shooting is much better than marvin and with him in the line-up next year when Acie is hopefully ready to take over as a mature pg we will still have a good shooting team with Acie/Joe/JR vs a dismal Acie/Joe/Marv lineup witth only one real perimeter threat. JR is very aggressive and loves to attack, which has been the problem with Marvin his whole career, also JR provides us with a much better complement to JJ's game than Marv is. He can really help Joe take on the offense load. You must be happy if your Joe in this trade having Bibby/JR/Smoove/Horford as your supporting cast is perfect. JR's athleticism if harnested the right way can make him a very respectable rebounder, plus the expected signing of a big like Kwame can help make up the small rebounding stats Marvin leaves. Plus this trade helps us financially with Marvin in a contract year and sure to demand around a 8mil per long term deal. Getting JR to come for a 4yr 26mil (6.5 yearly) deal would save us alot of potential money when its time to resign Al and JJ
