  1. Alright we have our chillz replacement, and I must say Mo Evans was a good and cheap rebound from the Childress Europe fiasco. So lets say Smith is resigned and we also sign a nice big (Kwame or Morris) with the remainder or the mle. That means we will go going back next season with no major lineup differences, and I think in the vastly improved East getting back into the playoffs will be highly unlikely. But can we be missing a golden opportunity? Would a JR Smith/Marvin Williams swap really improve the starting line-up or would we just be trading away Marvin for a character issue waiting to happen? Talent/Skill wise there is nothing that Marvin posesses that JR doesn't but Marvin doesn't bring the coaching headaches that JR does bring. If we had a coach that was better with dealing with player personalities I would be all for a Marvin/JR swap. Thoughts
  2. i would be happy to have Luke on this team. The kid is hungry to get back after his injury plagued career and make some things happen. I can really see him playing a big role for us, and hopefully make Marvin expendable, getting us a good piece back. Sign him, he's exaclty what we want.
  3. My fault about not putting this idea in the right forum Dolfan... still trying to get used to the new rule.
  4. As long as Meagan Good is off this list Im fine. But i dont know too much about you're kim kardashian pick, she is sexy as hell with a nice face and a DIME body she must be rated pretty damn high to be overrated. (DID YOU SEE THE TAPE).
  5. Both the Hawks and the Bulls are in a predicament pertaining to their RFA's. With Deng threatning to take the one-year deal and leave if a agreement isn't reached by aug. 4. Then Childress threatning to bolt to Europe if a SnT isnt reached. Why not swap? Hawks trade: Josh Childress (4yr/26mil) Marvin Williams Bulls trade: Luol Deng (4yr/45mil) Thabo Sefolosha Our new line-up: Bibby/Law/Claxton Joe/Law/Thabo Deng/Thabo Smith/Zaza Horford/Zaza/Jones Hawks: I think this instantly makes us a serious playoff threat in the East. The Hawks get a perfect complement to JJ's game and a efficient and reliable second scoring option behind JJ. Deng is young and pretty durable, he's a class act whom we would all love. He plays hard and plays to win. With Law/Joe/Deng/Smith/Horford we have a starting lineup that can really grow and compete together for years to come. Bulls: This is definetly a trade paxson looks at the idea of giving a young learning pg like a Rose one of the best cutters maybe in the league (chillz) is something that can really help Rose throughout his first season. Then you get a Marvin williams who still has potential to be a good player and can probably be a starter next to Ben Gordan next year. I think this trades helps the team move on, because with such a class act like Deng is for him to start to be nuisance must mean the relationship is pretty damaged.
  6. Trade-ML-330326-ML- Moved to Trade Central
  7. Quote: First game for a while for some of these players. Acie Law was certainly disappointing. I was getting excited about hearing all this hype about him putting in the work in the offseason, but let's give him a couple more games to prove himself before we start considering him a failure in the summer league. He was disappointing, but look for him to bounce back. The same goes for most of the players actually. It's just one game. I want to see them play a couple more. I'm surprised to see that Jeremy Richardson isn't on your list of 'Positives'. He led the team in scoring, and he showed many of us that he certainly should of gotten more burn last year. I definetly thought J-rich was a positive but was a little lazy to put him up there. But yeah I think he should take over Mario West spot on the team as Luke should take Jeremy's old spot. I'm really high on what Luke can potentially bring us... I can really see him coming here with something to prove, after basically being written off from his 2004 lottery pick status
  8. Quote: the issue for Speedy is playing back to back games to see what happens with his knee. By the end of SL we should know something. Definetly. Hopefully speedy shows his knee can with stand a long strech of games in a short period of time ala the nba schedule
  9. There were some positive's and negatives that we can take from this first game (Don't want to take too much since it is only game 1) Positives: Luke Jackson- Was a huge positive for me, we've been looking for a shooter, and Luke showed being a shooter was why he was a lottery pick in 2004. His shooting off the bench is something that we can really use on our team next year, hopefully with more showings like yesterday (20 pts, 5-7 on 3pt fg) he'll stick. The kid has been derailed by injuries throughout his career could we have found a gem? Speedy- showed us great steps in his recovery and played like a real veteran out there. I think he may become relevant again for this team next year and maybe the back-up pg unless Acie steps it up. Negatives: Acie, Acie, Acie- after hearing such high praise for the work acie has been putting in this offseason. To see none of that in game action yesterday was really disheartning and was a big let down. Hopefully he will bounce back and show the consistence and efficiency he has lacked all last season. Feel free to add what you guys thought from the game.
  10. Quote: I haven't played baseball in one year, but I really miss the sport, and I see some of the players I've played with in the past make it real big in some of these high school teams and legion teams. I'm just wondering what kind of workouts you guys know that can get me back in top shape for baseball season this fall. When I played, I was average and very streaky, but I think it was mainly confidence. I usually got startled and intimidated by hard ground balls, but that's because I was making an adjustment in third base which is where the ball comes at you a lot faster, and it comes at you at a weird angle. I wasn't fast, and I wasn't that strong, but when I made contact with the ball, I usually got a solid hit. I think I really need to improve on arm accuracy, consistency with ground balls and especially pop ups, strength in swings, and speed on the bases. Any help? These are the kind of posts I hate. Here you go Dolfan posts like these are the ones that gotta stop.
  11. Quote: D you know better than to think it was my "intent" to do anything. Have I ever gone after you specifically for anything? Of course not. Has the moderation of where posts are posted gotten a bit out of hand? Yes. Do you really think I like moving posts around? If it hadn't been for other people bringing it up I wouldn't waste my time with it, but as you know there isn't a forum called "Hawks Trade Forum", it's the "Trade Forum" and that implies that any "trade" thread should be posted there. It's my (and Chillz, Kudzu)'s fault that wasn't moderately more heavily in the past but you shouldn't try and make it seem like some personal attack on you now. I dont know if you are responding to my post our if your doing your usual arguing with diesel. But if your'e post is in response to me, I never mentioned that you have been big on moving things around in the past, I was just saying you should start keeping a keener eye out to get rid of these stupid frequent post about nothingness.
  12. The clear cut answer for me is NO. Face it, its very convienent to be able to see basically every thread about the hawks upon entering the site. I just thikn some of us should do a better job of determining what really needs to be posted and what doesn't some topics are not thread worthy. I think Dolfan should use his judgement to decide whether to move it off of the homecourt and into one of the other forums not as featured. But then again, I wouldnt want to turn him into super mod where he's moving around everything lol.
  13. Can we change this into "Petition to remove this Basketballguy idiot off of this site"+1 if you sign... lol
  14. The MLE does nothing for us in our pursuit of Maggette, what makes our MLE any better than a contenders like the spurs or celtics are. We have to present a little more than the MLE if we want Corey over the Spurs or Celts.
  15. Thats a good point but I think they would use Marvinin a backup SF/PF role, maybe we can change that trade, to a deal something like this; Zaza and Speedy for Maggette 4year/40 mil
  16. Maggette is surely out of LAC, but he's not getting the big money offers from anywhere as he imagined when he first opted out. Alot of us wouldn't mind having a upgrade at the SF position over marvin, and alot of us were furious when we didn't pounce on the opportunity to aquire Richard Jefferson as Milwaukee stole them. Well it looks like were doing again, missing a golden opportunity upgrade or team offensively and defensively. Maggette will bring that efficient 2nd option JJ needs every night, he shoots a good FG% and his game is the perfect complement to JJ's as RJ's was. As JJ is a finesse guy who loves to hit pullup jumpers and three's, Maggette is a power player who slashes hard and gets the other team in foul trouble. And that quick foul trouble can really help our Bigs smoove and Horford get to the line more often. Here's my trade scenarios that will surely beat all the title contender who are just offering the mid-level. Trade 1: Marvin williams and Speedy Claxton for SnT Corey Maggette 4year/40mil Trade 2: SnT Josh Childress 3year/24mil for SnT Corey Maggette 4year/34mil
  17. Some news after Smoove's visit with the Sixers: Quote: Hawks' free agent forward Josh Smith is reportedly impressed with the Sixers after visiting with the team on Wednesday, according to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. "We had a great meeting and a great time visiting with everyone here, and we'll continue to talk tomorrow," Brian Dyke, one of Smith's agents, said Wednesday night. "What I can tell you is that we're very impressed with 76ers' organization and the city of the Philadelphia." Philadelphia took Smith around the city in a limo and scheduled a meeting with major Michael Nutter, as well. The 76ers are armed with more than $11 million in available cap space. Via The Atlanta Journal-Constitution Is this something to be worried about? Or maybe it's just his agent playing the agent game and using the sixers as leverage on the Hawks extension talks.
  18. Quote: Uhm. Gord. If we exchange a 10 Million dollar contract for a 10 million dollar contract and in the process make the team better, the ownership would be really happy. Right now, their focus should be on the gate and not the divorce. Also agreed, dur to the cap you have to trade 10 mil for 10 mil so its not like theres a huge difference, and it makes our team much better even if RJ holds a longer contract.
  19. Quote: Quote: He can shoot over anyone and isn't a finesse player like Bargnani. Yi is as soft as Charmin. He can't take contact at all. I have never seen a 7 footer shoot so poorly inside or get his shot blocked so often. http://www.82games.com/0708/07MIL10A.HTM He's young, making the transition from International to NBA, was a rookie, and his body is still weak and developing. The kid is gona be a player
  20. Ok I understand and agree that Bibby should stay, but not if that means we pass up the chance to really improve our team, RJ would have really improved out team in every aspect. He brings that dependable and efficient 2nd scorer for JJ and is everything we hoped Marvin will turn out to be. So from a basketball standpoint, there is no doubt we should have atleast attempted a Marvin/Speedy swap which is looking like it could of very well happened, based on what NJ got from this deal. Now looking at that deal financially, after we resign Smith/Chill that would of had us with 4 10+ mil players in the starting line-up which I admit is alot, but that number is very temporary as Bibby is just a expensive stop gap for Acie, and having those 4 players would of had us winning and then maybe the ASG would of had more than 100 people in Philips Arena on game nights. Unlike you I am dis-satisfied with mediocrity, and will not tolerate the cheapness of the ASG, look at the Celtics and they're payroll, hard to win without money
  21. Maybe this is our vet shooter, i recall him being little expensive though. Probably too expensive for the ASG idiots.
  22. Im ashamed to call Rick Sund our GM, and ASG our ownership. WE WANT BILLY BACK! lol I don't know about all that, but maybe he would of been smart enough to go for a guy that can improve us tremendously offensively and defensively like RJ can. RJ is everything we wanted Marvin to be, and everything Marvin wont become, what a shame to see our chances of getting him crumble away. Official Sund hater.
  23. The thing that I hate is that it seems Sund is not even looking into possibilities to improve our roster. I have not heard 1 thing or even got the vibes from him and his interviews that he is even looking into possibilities to improve our roster during this draft day. I'm officially done with this guy, call it early if you want but after living through all the crap BK brought here I have no tolerance for any GM's brought in by the good fellows of the ASG. Im pissed!
  24. Still being worked out but is a close deal according SI.com: Quote: By Ian Thomsen, SI.com The Milwaukee Bucks have agreed in principle to trade Yi Jianlian to the New Jersey Nets for Richard Jefferson, two league sources told SI.com. The Bucks also are sending Bobby Simmons to the Nets. He has $20.5 million left on a contract that expires in the summer of 2010, when LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh could become free agents. Yi's camp was said to be ecstatic about going to the rebuilding Nets and playing in a major market, which was one of the original concerns when he was drafted by the Bucks last year. Yi threatened to not sign with Milwaukee in hopes of forcing a trade to another team. The Bucks get out from under Simmons' contract while providing new coach Scott Skiles with a veteran player who can help him win now. The Bucks also retain their No. 8 pick in the draft to further revamp their team. The Nets hold the No. 10 pick in the draft. WHYYYYYYY!!!!!! He couldv'e easily been had in a Marvin/Speedy/future pick trade. STRIKE 2 for SUND!!
  25. Draft Night coming up thursday and I thought we should have some fun with possible trade ideas that pertain to the draft. Here my idea, feel free to give your feedback. Hawks Trade: Marvin Williams, Mike Bibby for Nets Trade: Richard Jefferson, Trenton Hassel, #10 pick Then with the #10 pick we draft: PG DJ Augustin from Texas Our line-up 08 (Joshes signed): Horford/Zaza/Jones Smith/Horford/Zaza Jefferson/Hassel J.Johnson/ Chillz Law IV vs Augustin This line-up would is posied for a deep playoff run, with Jefferson bringing everything Marvin was supposed to have and more. RJ brings a efficient and dependable 2nd scoring option behind JJ every night as well as being a good perimeter defender and shooter. Then with the selection of DJ Augustin, to battle Law for that starting PG position it would amke great competition between them both and both of them will get better because of it. We let them battle it out in training camp and in the summer league and whoever comes out on top is our starter. Hopefully if they both pan out very well in a few years, we can have a two guard offense like Toronto ran with Ford/Calderon. Hassel brings more vet leadership, depth, and can be our poor mans bruce bowen off the bench. Would you do this trade as a hawk fan? Do you think NJ does it, knowing how they want to have capspace for 2010, and this trade provides that? Who would you select at #10 if you dont like augustin?
