  1. Here are some other Drew quotes about Josh playing on the perimeter:

Whatever Drew says, it is a failing that he hasn't gotten Josh to play the way Drew says he wants him to play. Woodson took years too long and allowed a lot bad habits to form, but at least he got Josh much closer to the way he wanted him to play in his 6th year in the league. (Yes, that is damning Woodson with faint praise.)

I agree. Everyone including LD knows that Josh need to limit his jump shot and be in the post more, but I guess it's easier said than done.

On a side note, I didn't mean to -1 the post.... clicked the wrong side.

  2. Well, we all called for less minutes for JJ in the past couple of years under Woodson. Now we got it and hopefully it shows in the playoffs.

IMO, It's just that Joe's not making the shots he used to make, especially the three pointers.

  3. Science Experiment 101:

Only thing that changed in this experiment was larry drew:

    results: Hawks play worse

conclusion: Larry Drew at head coach made the hawks worse

LD is disappointing me, but not all variables are held constant in this experiment. JJ got worsed, Jamal got worsed, Smoove got worsed, and the east has gotten better somewhat.

  4. If you follow the Hawks (watch them on a nightly basis instead of seeing box scores) for the last 5-6 years, there's no way in hell you'd want Woody back. It's too frustrating to even thinking about it.

LD has made it a bit more bearable in terms of in game adjustments goes and disposing most of the inexplicable asinine systems from Woody, but still leaves a lot on the table. The only transparent problem that I'm seeing with LD that carries over from Woody is that he doesn't realize Crawford is not a PG (hence no playing time for Teague) and over use of Zaza.

  5. al got bogus 2nd foul in 1st and then LD has the annoying habit of following Woody's annoying rule of "2 fouls means you are done for the half"

There's a difference between LD and Woody in regard to 2 fouls.

With Woody, it's an automatic sit in the 2nd quarter.

With LD, I'm noticing that if the team is in need of the player to stay in the game or if the Hawks don't have a comfortable lead, then he will play them.

  6. When you have Zaza playing off the bench, it's not good.

This is why I think it make sense to start Teague and Collins for long term. This way Hinrich and Marvin can come off the bench. Marvin, Hinrich, Crawford, Wilkins, Powell/Armstrong. That's pretty good 2nd unit scoring wise and defense. You got 3 capable starters on the bench at all times. And on the first unit, you have Al, JJ, and Josh doing the scoring mostly.

  7. I find it funny that some said the Hawks shouldn't run and gun. Haven't people screaming that the Hawks be a running team for a while now?

Now that we have a couple of PG that can do it, you don't want them to?
