  1. I think Williams is a valuable part of the Hawks team who will only get better so I think the contract was good for both parties. Now, hopefully, the Hawks can work on extending Joe Johnson's contract and signing Garrett Siler and/or Joe Smith (hopefully, Both!)!
  2. Stupid Question! Now that Siler has accepted the Hawks offer to attend their September camp where does that put him in regards to free agency? Am I wrong that my understanding is that Siler has accepted to attend the Hawks camp but he has not signed a contract with them? Can he still sign with any other team and if the answer is yes will the Hawks try to sign him before the camp begins or will they wait to see how he performs at the camp?
  3. What are your opinions on whether or not the Hawks can sign both Garrett Siler and Joe Smith? And, if they could sign both these players how much of an improvement (if any) do you see the Hawks making next season? Personally, I would be thrilled to see the Hawks sign these players and I do think this would improve their team although you might not see a big improvement in their record since many teams in the East seem to be getting stronger as well. But, I do think the addition of these players would make them stronger in the playoffs (especially with Smith thanks to his playoff experience).
  4. I agree that I am glad that Siler has agreed to attend the Hawks training camp in September. I think he really could be that "Diamond in the Rough" type player and it seems to me that the Hawks could use a player with his size to mix it up when they play some of the bigger centers in the league. Hopefully, Siler will be one of those late bloomers and he will develop into a quality center for the Hawks and have a long career in Atlanta!
  5. Does anyone have any information on how Cenk Akyol and Sergiy Gladyr looked in this past week's mini-camp? Will one or both these players have a chance on making the Hawks team this year or in the near future?
  6. After reading a lot of information (a lot from this message board) about Garret Siler I am surprised the Hawks haven't already signed him to a contract. Does anyone know if the Hawks are even considering making him an offer? He sure seems to be that BIG BODY that they could use when they some of the bigger centers in the league.
  7. Now, that Childress has decided to go back to Greece and Andersen has been traded to Houston are there any chances we will see the Hawks make some moves to bring in some size (Center, Power Forward)? There seems to still be some players available but they might not be there long so hopefully the Hawks will make some moves (Free Agents, Trades, etc.) to bring some size and muscle to the team.
  8. I still can't figure out why the Hawks keep drafting foreign players when it does not seem to me that they ever make it to Atlanta.
  9. Can someone tell me how long the Hawks own the rights to Childress and Andersen? I have heard everything from one more year to forever (as long as the Hawks keep making them qualifying offers?).
  10. With the July 15th Deadline quickly approaching it looks like one (Childress) of the two players the Hawks were hoping to sign (or Sign & Trade) before tomorrow has decided to go back to Europe. Has anyone heard any updates on Andersen? I know nobody knows what he can do in the NBA but he sure looks like he has some skills that could help some NBA Teams (including the Hawks).
  11. So, can we assume that Andersen is out of the picture for the Hawks?
  12. I admit I still don't understand all the restrictions put on a Childress trade but since the salary cap seems to be such an obstacle can the Hawks just trade Childress for a Draft pick(s) (preferably a 1st Round Pick!) and not worry about the getting equal value (however they figure that out?) from the other team?
  13. I thought I read somewhere that Andersen has signed with the Hawks but I have not read that anywhere else. Can someone tell me if he has indeed signed or if not does it look like he will be signing with the Hawks anytime soon? Thanks!

    Zaza

Can you briefly explain what "Bird Rights" are? Thanks
  15. Just curious on which FA's (Williams, Pachulia, Murray, Jones, etc.) other Hawks fans think the Hawks will want to and be able to resign. I am happy that the Hawks did resign Bibby and now I hope they can resign Williams, Pachulia and Jones and get Andersen to agree to come to Atlanta.
  16. Am I in the minority thinking that ZaZa has been really underrated/underappreciated player these past few years and it will be a huge loss if the Hawks lose him? He probably now for the 1st time is getting the recognitition he deserves. As much as I would like to see the Hawks sign more great FA's I am thinking it is more important to be resigning their own FA's (ZaZa, Bibby, Williams, Jones, Murray, etc.). It would be nice to see the Hawks sign a 7' Center who can rebound and block shots but I am not sure that players exists in this FA group?
  17. Thanks for the clarification! Can teams announce that they have come to terms with their free agents or do they have to wait until they officially sign?
  18. Did signing day for Free Agents begin today or do I have my dates wrong? If it is today there sure seems to be a lot less action than I thought there would be. If it is not today can someone tell me when it officially begins? And, is there any news or rumors of the Hawks targeting any of the Free Agents?
  19. hawkman, Thanks for the clarification! I get a little (OK, a lot!) confused with the Free Agent scenarios. Do you think we can expect a busy day for the Hawks tomorrow and do you have any ideas on what Free Agents the Hawks might be targeting?
  20. Does this mean they are not interested in resigning Bibby?
  21. I keep reading that this player wants to play for the Lakers and this player wants to play for the Knicks and this player wants to play for the Spurs but I have not seen any news on any players stating that they want to play for the Hawks. Am I just missing something or are there really no players that are hoping/wanting to sign with the Hawks? I know (hope!) the money issue will help pursuade some players to sign with the Hawks but it would be nice if some players just WANTED to come play for them!
  22. I was also wondering about Cenk Aykol. What are the chances any or all of these players (Aykol, Gladyr and Anderson) ever get to Atlanta? And, another stupid question - If it is so hard (for whatever reason) to get these foreign players to the states (especially Atlanta) why do the Hawks keep drafting them? Why not just draft US player (a Bird in the Hand is Worth Two In The Bush?)?
  23. STUPID QUESTION! So, if the Hawks don't participate in the Summer League then will that make it that much harder for them to compete for some of the better Undrafted College Free Agents? I am assuming that if an Undrafted Player signs with an NBA Team to play in a Summer League that player can't sign with another team to get on their roster? If this is true then this sure would seem to hurt the Hawks chances at signing any of the quality players that went undrafted.
  24. Out of that group I would take Anderson. I love his energy and I think he would definately be a crowd favorite!
  25. I know this is a mute point since the draft has already taken place but I am just curious. Do you think the Hawks still would have selected Teague if Lawson was still available? I will admit I know very little about Teague but I was really hoping that Lawson would fall to the Hawks. I will also admit that I was hoping the Hawks would select BJ Mullins IF the Hawks could not get one of the true PG's in the draft (and, I am still not sure if Teague is a pure PG or more of a combo Guard). Anyway, now that the draft is over and Teague is a Hawk I am a huge fan of his and I hope he has many great years for the Hawks!
