I'd do it. I think part of the reason BD used to be hurt so much because he was always so BIG. He's slimmed down from his normal 225, and has made it through an entire season.

Hahahahaha!! Joe was non-existant enough to make his way to the All Star game. Not to mention he's on the short list for the USA Olympic team.

The '03 draft was pretty deep at the SF position with Lebron, Carmelo, Josh Howard. You could also throw Diaw's name in there, too. Kapono, while not super talented, has a ring and still is in the league. The '04 draft was really deep at the SF position too. Josh Childress, Luol Deng, Andre Iguodala (he's played SF for the sixers, I believe), and Josh Smith (has played SF for us). Last year's draft wasn't too bad either with Kevin Durant, Jeff Green, Al Thornton, and Thaddeus Young. Rush is good, he might play SG as well. The draft isn't really weak, I was wrong. It's just I have my doubts about foreign players making the transition to the NBA. This years SF crop compares well to last years, really. You've got your bonafide star (Beasley), a few do-it-all type SFs (Gallinari/Randolph), and a few scorers (Green). Who knows how these guys'll really turn out ?

I wouldn't be upset with all that except for the resigning Salim part. I'd rather go after Chris Duhon than a player like Salim. He really doesn't have a role on this team, because when he comes in the game as a "shooter" he doesn't hit shots. His ball-handling skills are OK, but he's court vision is NOT. He will never be a PG in this league, and if someone gives him PT, I see him being a Eddie House type player at best.

I really like this trade because we are getting someone who can play center next to Al Horford. Only thing is (if we could pull it off)..I'd swap Blake for Jack, and LaFrenz for their second round draft pick for monetary purposes. I think Raef has a huge contract, and for someone who probably wont make his way into our rotation, we shouldn't take on that contract.

This is actually a fairly weak draft at the SF position. Depending on whether or not you think Beasley is a SF, I'd say that only 2 or 3 of those guys will ever amount to anything in the league. Also, I think most consider Chris Douglas-Roberts to be a SG.

Oh, Joe existed alright. The thing is..teams could get away with double/triple teaming Joe because we have no consistent shooters. Around the time we got Bibby, Marvin's jumpshot was somewhat broke. After a few weeks, Bibby's jumpshot was broke, too. I think unless we get a legitimate second option (a la Michael Redd etc.) that teams will respect, most coaches are going to double team Joe and make the rest of our team beat them. I always thought playing like Joe Johnson and Marvin Williams could be ran off screens much more than they are. I always thought you could run a pick-and-roll with Al and Josh Smith much more often. Everytime I watch Josh Smith, I think 'If this guy learns to move without the basketball, instead of hanging at the 3 point line, he'd be tough.' Right now, I think we have too many athletes and not enough basketball players. Although we had a good showing in the playoffs, I'm worried if we're going to make the right moves to be competitive next year. Believe me, the Eastern Conference is going to be significantly better next year. Are we going to make the right moves to keep up ? or are we going to rest on our asses and hope the players we have make drastic leaps ?

The other BK isn't looking so bad now, huh ?

You can also add Ron Artest and Gerald Wallace to that list, too. You could ALMOST add Corey Maggette, but he blew up in year 5.

You never stipulated MPG in your original post. Irregardless, Hedo has had just as much PT as Marvin has had since 2005. The point I'm making is that more than one All-Star caliber has taken more than 6 years to develop. I honestly don't even think Marvin will take 6 years, because he's really a handle and some conditioning away from atleast being on Hedo's level. He is a player who had no basketball experience (if I recall correctly) before playing at UNC, and who was considered to be a 3-5 year project. As far as I'm concerned, I'm not particularly impressed by his progress, but because he plays good man-to-man defense and has good form on his jumpshot, I believe he'll be good.

You might as well go to QuikTrip and trade Marvin for a bag of chips and a 2 liter. The only way I would do that trade is if a first round draft pick was included, but even then I would have to think long and hard about it.
