How? They aren't going to sign for the E10. They don't qualify for the two-way contract.
We have 10 players under contract + 2 rookies, Young, Wright, Cooper, Bogi, Huerter, Hunter, Reddish, Jalen Johnson, Collins, Gallo, Capela, Okongwu. You can sign 1 wing and 2 bigs, one to play significant minutes the other to develop. Then Knight and Mays as 2 way contracts.

Hartenstein, Tony Bradley, Harry Giles are big projects we could try to develop.

Finding bigs with legit size that could play at the pace and tempo of the NBA is extremely difficult and rarely do they go undrafted and if they do, they are raw like E.J. Onu.
Onu was one guy I wanted us to try on summer league, he is going to Dallas instead. Good teams always try that kind of players.

Good read Supes, thanks. I would like Hawks to add some big projects with legit size to develop on this team

TBH, my concern isn't with the salaries right now or the contract lengths, its with us not taking a center to develop this year for when after Clint's contract is up in 2 years. Either OO's your guy and you need his backup or OO's a F/C and you need a starter/backup. I'm wondering if in free agency we don't take one to develop and one to play.
That point is what I have been missing from Hawks since long time. Good teams always have good bigs developing. The young bigs we have are all small, Knight, Fernando, Okongwu... seems we always have problems to find a C with legit size.

Detroit just released Cory Joseph, that was one of my preferred options at PG.
Regarding Portis I would not be mad if we sign him but I rather sign Dieng, Cousins, Drummond, Whiteside, Mcgee, Noel...

Sorry Sabonis is 4 years 75m$, would you really pay Collins 5 years 120?

Because there is competition. He would get a max offer from another team anyway IMO. He's only 23, is an excellent finisher AND he spreads the floor. Still has upside, already had a 20/10 season and just came off a deep playoff run. There is zero doubt he would get a big offer elsewhere.
Well I don’t agree, I think he is slightly worse than Sabonis and he got 4 years 85m$ contract, I think the offer of 4 years 90m$ is more than fair to be honest. Which team is going to pay him a max contract? He was not even 2nd best player on the playoff run, Capela was and he makes 20 a year. You cannot have 4 max players on the team.

We gotta get Collins back either way. I mean if folks develop in the future and we wanna swing him that’s fine but we need him on our team for the upcoming season.
He’s in his early 20’s his value with only increase imo.
I agree, I want him back but I don't think we should pay more than what was offered last year. Which has been the best contract offer he has received? Why we should increase our offer by 30m$ with no competition?

His max is 126 for other teams. That's a max deal.
I mean I am not buying this contract of 120m$ until I see It.

JC making the max. Scust. TS already f***ing up. Can't trade Gallo. We need to get rid of him in 2022 for 5 mil
I don’t think JC will make the max at Atlanta, I need to see it before it happens

Try to sell hamburgers, hotdogs, roast beef, fish, chicken, corned beef, ribs... on buns, on flatbread, on wheat bread, in gyros, in flour tortillas, in taco shells... and with every veggie, every sauce on the planet.... sorta like my local Arby's has gravitated toward.
Or just sell the best damn cheeseburger and fries on the planet... sorta like my local Five Guys.
Swiss army knife approach? Be all things to all people?
Or pick a philosophy and do what you do better than anyone else, and so exceptionally that everyone else is trying to figure out how to match up with you.
Let's see what Schlenk seems to choose. Big butt, big thighs, and as tall as possible in the quest to match-up with the reigning champs (with a player who won't see the floor anyhow b/c he's not better than CC or OO).... or someone who looks a lot more like CC or OO.
Not betting on this one, but suffice it to say, given Schlenk's history, feeling pretty confident he has his eye on an asset more CC or OO than Lopez or Boban.
Well, we are not asking to change our game, we are asking to have some answers for some teams trying to minimize the weaknesses this team has. Capela is the starter, that is a fact and Capela is good vs 90% of the teams but there will be som nights and matchups where Capela is destroyed and that is happening vs big centers. What we are asking is that when coach looks at the bench looking for answers that he can find a guy with different game than Capela that can provide some rest to him and can match the size of big centers. We are not asking to sign a different center to start over Capela, we are looking for true depth at Center where we had problems on playoffs.

Excellent….Theis would fit perfectly with this team. I like him and Robin Lopez the best for us.
Theis would be able to play in space better defensively so our team wouldn’t miss a beat on that end when Capela is out the game but on the flip side Robin would give us more size to help matchup with vs the teams that play bigger traditional centers a lot of minutes throughout the game.
I can see both succeeding however with us so either would be a great signing.
No more undersized centers please, he is 6'8"

Solutions?
Simply complaining doesn't make much of a discussion.
Well there are a lot of players like that on FA this year, Cousins, Mcgee, Drummond, Whiteside, Noel... I agree is a weakness and should be easy to address on FA. Anyway I still think Dieng would provide more versatility due to his floor spacing although is an inch shorter but he is good enough on defense to help with big C.

I appreciate the work and game of Mays, but would like to see Cooper blow him out of the water. Cooper is the guy with more potential.
Mays is solid and steady, but honestly aren’t we expecting Cooper to be our eventual backup PG? Cooper was ranked #17 overall on ESPN’s board. He could/should be ahead of Mays on day 1.
Mays averaged 16 points and 3 assists his senior year at LSU. Cooper walks on the court and takes over his first game played against Alabama. 20 and 8 as a freshman. Give me Cooper.I think long term there is no doubt Cooper should be better
-
Dieng for me is perfect fit, he is listed as 6’10” but in some sites he is 6’11”, does not look small in the court to me, he looks big and defends well big centers, he looks bigger than Capela honestly. I would like him because we can also pair him with Okongwu and Capela as he can play on the perimeter playing PF.
As he probably is too expensive I think we could go with guys like Cousins, Whiteside, Drummond, McGee, Noel... there are plenty of options
-
So we lack a backup C and a wing, let’s see what Travis has prepared, I am in love with this trade

Been wanting Delon for a couple years I’m not gonna lie. He’s a solid backup point guard and he knows his role and plays it extremely well. High BBIQ, rarely takes bad shots. Plays within the flow of the offense and is a team player. Best years as a Raptor but can easily get it back.
Perfect backup to Trae. We our out of the TJ sweepstakes now
His advanced stats are awesome for a backup PG, he really impacts winning and he can also play SG. A SG that can defend.

Really fantastic addition for Atlanta, a step in the right direction

Kings had a problem with Fox, Halliburton, Davion Mitchell and Delon, they needed to create space for the rookie and we got a good player, best of all the players on the trade by far.

Wow, I was just talking with Sturt about this possibility an hour ago, he is really a very good fit for us. He provides what Trae lacks, size and defense while he is decent on offense, versatility, that is what good teams have and what I was claiming at C
