checked some messages while I am laid up in bed recovering. Siakam is who we really want but that's probably not going to happen. KAT to ATL has been basically agreed to but it is the 3rd/4th teams that are hanging things up. I was told one of the Twolf owners was talked out of nixing this deal outright(both myself and @NBASupes have mentioned this possibility more than once) and that KAT's value is about to seriously decline because of his contract.

2nd apron fear is real. Don't even think of it as a 2nd apron in LT. Think of it as a hard cap which is what it really is. Minnesota simply cannot afford to keep him on the roster. Atlanta has outbid the Mavs for KAT. The only question is which young guy is moved with Bey in the deal.

Again was told to expect something mostly from the Rudy gay situation in the JC trade to resolve this one way or the other.

Not really? We can still move Capela or Bogi together or in a separate deal to make things work. We have the KAT main details agreed upon it is the 3rd/4th teams that are the hold up.

The reason I say that is because they are going to want a young point guard back in the deal and I think Kevin PorterJr. Fits the bill. Houston still wants Clint. Bey, KPJ, some of John’s trade exception, and Houston’s 1st will seal the deal. Maybe we throw in a pick swap. I guess they can do that deal separately but why when they can just combine it.  I think this two young guys from Houston would go to Minnesota too. They need depth.

Seriously, this is a salary dump. Salary matching vets and a draft pick. There you go.

The issue is it is not a salary dump for them this year. Minnesota is well below the tax, in fact, they are near the bottom of the league. They can ride this year out if they think they have a chance at competing.  Success for Minnesota is a competitive second round appearance. They are in good shape this year. So it is not quite a salary dump now. Next year it will be though. The year after that they will have to add first round picks to get rid of that contract. For us though, all we really care about is the next two years. If we can get KAT and we think that will make us a contender, we have to sacrifice. If we are not good after two years, we will have to blow it up anyway.

I'm not indicting anyone. But this ain't my first rodeo. No way a KAT trade was occurring without national media, or beat writers catching wind of it. Lo and behold, no KAT trade. We do this every summer and posters continue to be remarkably credulous.

I will say I expect two things to happen soon. In vegas when both teams are face to face things will heat up. Also, the JC trade officially takes place after that. I expect there to be an explosion of chatter over the next three days and execution by July 14th, if at all. In my opinion the only hold up is if Minnesota wants to wait until the trade deadline to execute the deal to give the Gobert/Towns one more try. If they are smart they will get off that contract as soon as possible, otherwise they will be stuck with him like they are Gobert. We are slightly ahead of them in terms of competing and KAT fits our team a little better, so it makes sense for us to take some risk now, but we are not stupid either, we will move on and they will miss the best opportunity they have. His contract will no doubt become an anchor for whatever franchise has him.

Star player - - - - Home team sells out because fans come to see him play!

Superstar player - - - You are the visiting team and they have a sell out because you, the superstar, will play!

I like this. Also when I think of superstar, it means their celebrity has reached beyond the basketball court and they resonate with casual fans, have commercial appeal, can move clothing and other products, has influence, and is can’t miss TV wether you like him or not. Early in Larry Birds career you could consider him a superstar even before he won anything in the nba and half the country hated him because they were Laker fans. Lol. Trae is a super star in my opinion. If he becomes a champion, he will be supernova.

The hold up so to speak is trying to finagle the other teams involved or dropping other trade partners/folding existing known trades into other deals.

If that were the case the national media would be leaking like a sieve.  If this goes down the new front office has tightened up their camp. Those leaks from last year must have been coming from the outgoing front office folks.

I'm telling everyone, I wanted that center from Duke.  Hawks didn't get him.  Instead, they got the consolation pick when they drafted Mohammed Gueye.  Almost took him at 15.  Then, traded up to get him when they found him still available.  Supes says he's a good offensive player who didn't play defense.  The best thing is, he can learn to play defense.  If you can't shoot, you can't shoot.  Not a problem.  He can!

Waiting for Summer League, then Pre-season.  Squawk posters want to see our three draft picks in action!

    🥰

I think his defensive upside is tremendous. He has great feet and a long wing span. Good lateral quickness and he has hops. He projects more as a power forward who will defend stretch 4s, has switching ability and will be a good help defender on the weak side of the defense.
