I feel like with their decision to not do the second PRP, things might be going well. My guess is he comes back April 4th after the long road trip.

I agree. I just hope he is able to get back into basketball shape pretty quickly.

    What?

No, he had surgery Feb 8th - Monday coming  will be 4 weeks since the surgery. Which will be halfway to the minimum 8 week mark for his return.

True, but he was out about two weeks before that.  Your Kirschner update provided some of what I was looking for though which is that he is actively on his feet working out.

Lol, this makes no sense - all rehabs are different. And you definitely don't want him traveling on a plane.

You guys do realize he has been out for 6 weeks right?  Something is not right.

Bogi and Cam didn't have surgery, Dunn's surgery was since January. Hunter’s was more recent.

Which leads me to believe he is in a cast somewhere laying in bed if he can’t even walk around with the team.

On a long road trip, players going thru rehab without a xhance of playing don't typically travel.

Yeah, but Bogi, Cam, Dunn are all with the team. What gives.

Thank you for being the leader and man you are. We live in a world where tough decisions have to be made. Regardless,  thank you for being the coach of my Atlanta Hawks. Keep your head up and continue to prepare for your next head coaching gig.

He definitely was doing what he was brought here to do and thats develop players.  I think the owners wanted to speed up the process and pressed Schlenk a bit and Loyd couldn't rise to the challenge with some of the injuries.  He was not adding value when everything wasn't perfect.

I don't blame him personally for the lack of success but I don't think he was good enough to overcome the challenges we have this season.

Too bad we couldn't see what he could do with a full squad.

Haven’t been on this site in a long time and honestly this is the first season I’ve actually had time to watch in awhile. I wanted LP to grow with our young players but when I watched him coach (this season specifically) I didn’t even know what I was looking at... dude was completely inept. What was our identity? What plays did he draw up? How did he play to our players strengths? No clue. Now he wasn’t solely to blame due to a lot of the injuries and some questionable signings but he failed to adjust at all. Every single team in the league has been dealing with injuries and COVID and their coaches made the proper adjustments. Glad he’s gone because the constant crunch time meltdowns were had me foaming at the mouth. Carlisle’s issue with him being fired is irrelevant as hell. Pierce is a great person and has done a lot of amazing work for the community down there but he was bad at his job, which is why he got fired from his job. I don’t give a damn if the timing looked bad, he sucked. If he can’t get on as an assistant somewhere else he should seriously consider getting into politics. He could a lot of great things.

Lastly, Schlenk should be on the hot seat next...

Before Schlenk, it should be the medical staff. They are way too conservative with these players. Bogi is practically auditioning to play and they wont let him. Dre being out 10 weeks for what he had is ridiculous. Don't get me started on Dunn and Rondo. Why would the medical staff allow these players to be signed if they weren't healthy? Clint was ready to play a week after we traded for him. They made him suffer watching the team when he could help. I was ok with this two years ago and last year because it allowed our young guys to develop while staying in contention for high draft picks but we are not in that mode any more.

It doesn't matter who they think they are.  The only thing that matters is who they are when healthy.  Even what they are now is of less importance unless you think they'll always be without Hunter, Bogi, etc...

They were a top 10 NBA team that didn't know how to close out games.  They were still learning that.  I'll not argue that point.  They were 9-8 in games where Trae and Hunter both played and probably should have been 12-5 in those games.  So?  Young teams blow leads while they are learning how to win.  They were still winning enough to be above .500 which would put them as a Top 4 seed today in the East.

That's my point.  Trae IS a winning player and it's not Trae that's causing them to lose as much as they are.  So I'm a bit baffled with all the "move on from Trae" and "he's not a winner" and "worst team in the NBA with him" talk.  There's an actual reason for their play of late and it coincides exactly with Hunter getting hurt.

    Closet trolls?

Look, I’ve always been on the Luka side of "the trade" but the fallout of not getting Luka is just beginning..

Heads will roll trying to make Trae work here. LP will be fired, Collins will likely be traded, and probably some other dire consequence (maxing Trae early) before we accept that he's just not a plausible (not impossible I guess…) best player for a contender. That's my stance..Again, I hope Im wrong..

I hope you are wrong too. The worst thing you can do now though is to pull the plug on your whole plan out of fear. I always knew Loyd wouldn't be the coach that took us all the way unless he did something extraordinary. Schlenk is following the golden state blue print all the way.  Loyd was a development coach like Mark Jackson and they cut their ties as soon as all the players they drafted were developed. This is just the next step in the plan that came a little early.

We all love Trae. It's just reality is finally hitting "US". Sure, NBA fans been saying what we are now saying but it's taking us more time because we are so invested into this team and we are more passionate and we see when Trae looks amazing too. But the reality is, is he becoming more of a D'Angelo Russell type impact wise or is he getting close to Iverson. We know Iverson was single handedly winning games and a lot of them. LeBron as a 2nd year player was carrying the Cavs. Maybe we don't got what we thought we had after his rookie year. It's not the end of the world, shit, we didn't trade our future lottery picks, thank goodness. But it makes us think what is this that we really have in Atlanta?

Depending on how the Falcons draft and choose at #4, we could move to the 3rd brightness future in Atlanta behind the Braves and the Falcons. Land of those 4 primetime QBs, the Falcons could be looking extra sweet in 2022.

Hang in there brother. Trae is an amazing, unique all world talent and he has that has fiery competitive spirit which can’t easily be replaced. He will make everyone eat crow sooner or later. I am with Trae til the end and wont turn on him even if we don't win. I still love the Hawks first and foremost but Trae is special. He will get it done.

LP reminds me of Steve Kerr but with worse coaching skills. He's creative, maybe even more creative than Kerr. He develops talent well and he has a good eye which is critical for any coach who wants to be able to develop players. He is smart and a fighter. He has an unique style of play and he knows what wins in this league. He's far from rigid, in fact, he's too loose. But he doesn't manage well. His teams run cold far too long. He doesn't have a feel for sub patterns. Poor TO usage. Doesn't put players in position to succeed. He puts player in position to perform which may work on occasion, especially with an experienced team but not with youngins. LP knows what winning Basketball looks like, I don't know if he understands how to implement it. I know he's a worker. I know he's smart. I know he's passionate. I don't doubt that at all.

Agree 100%. I hope he can turn it around fast or it is about to get ugly.

Iso Joe is better than Trae . . . . I loved Joe, but this is a lie

Horford is way better than Trae . . . . Double Lie

    Smoove is as impactful as Trae . . . . Trae's offense > Smoove's defense

Teague is as impactful as Trae. Trae is a million times more talented but Jeff was consistent and became a pretty good two way PG in his prime.  . . . . Lighting strike Lie

Sap is better than Trae . . . Sap had few weaknesses

Smitty is better than Trae . . . smoother than Trae

Deke is better than Trae . . OK

Mookie is better than Trae . . Mookie Sellout? I don't know about that

Nique is WAY better than Trae . . Obviously

Doc is as impactful as Trae . . Not as impactful, but knew how to play with superstars

Pistol and Trae are similar . . entertainment wise, yes

Hudson is better than Trae . .  pure scoring guard

Lenny is better than Trae. . . . hall of famer

Supes has gone over the rails trying to prove his point. Lol. We are all mad right now, no need to burn down the best thing we have going for us. That post wont age well.

He was playing ok minus the turnovers up until that point.  He was going downhill and getting fouled which got us back into the game and then those two plays happened.  Don't get it.

Again, that’s where the coaching comes in. DESIGN plays to go inside the paint. Every shot needs to be in the paint looking for fouls. Only shoot threes if it is the best shot after the ball has touched 3 hands and the shooter is wide open. If any player cant do that, including Trae down the stretch, their a** should be on the bench.

He led College in scoring and assists too..Didnt amount to winning..

It does amount to winning. He had that team in contention when it hadn't been for ages.  It didn't come crashing down until teams double and triple teamed him EVERY time down and he still had a chance to take that team to the tourney. I understand people are mad at the losing but you have to remember we are coming off rebuilding mode. When the GM of the team says he doesn't think we will win more than 31 games, you cant blame Trae for the record.

can someone explain what is wrong with this team, we have the players , collins is back from suspension, we have capela. and some nice role players. why are we playing like the worst team in the nba. we are 2-8 on our last 10 games.

Im watching but i cant tell WHAT IS WRONG WITH THIS TEAM THEY PISS ME OFF SO MUCH

There is no consistent offense for our second team and role players to play. They aren't coached hard and don’t scare other teams. If you go back and look at all our losses, you will see big nights from a bunch of bench and role players on the other teams. They simply dont respect us and play hard every minute they are on the court and when our team relaxes, which they always do, they go on big runs. Our team only has a plan for the starters and HOPE our bench doesn't cause too much damage when they are out there.  Meanwhile people like Nunn, Dort, Windler, etc. have career games against us.

Trae does not have the bbiq y'all think he does I get it your invested, when we get another coach which will be sooner than later ur not going to see a change really for a bit till teams adjust, it'd.not just his bbiq also his size , yes we need other players around him but we just apparently won free agency and made most improvements to our team but it's not that tangible even without injuries your going to see trae do what he does

There is no point hating on Trae. He is probably the best player the Hawks will ever have. We need to find a way to make it work. This game is entirely on Pierce.   I want Pierce to succeed because he deserves a shot to coach a team expected to win, but he is not adding value right now.

I am with ya'll, if LP is replaced by McMillian by ASB. I don't have an issue with it. I just know, Trae being our it guy is also on the line as well. If we can land a top 5 pick, I think I would simply run it back but I am no longer looking at Trae like I look at him. He's moving into D. Russell lane for me. No longer is he looking like a kid with legit star potential.

Stop it bro. The man is doing things that hardly has been done throughout NBA history. We need to quit acting like these guys grow on trees. We haven't had a player like this since Nique.

Which is yet another reason we need to move on

Stop it. Trae ain't going no where. What more can you ask of that man. We need some better coaching and better role play. Also, Schlenk and the medical staff does not get a pass either. They are ultra conservative with these players injuries. Bogi is begging to come back and Dre had a knee scope and they want to keep him out for 10 weeks.   They are sabotaging the team.
