  1. We didn't play absolutely horrible against Philly. Take away the first quarter and things might be different.
  2. This could be a VERY close game or a breakout game for Lebron. Keys to it being very close: Both team's Points Score and Points Allowed are around 1 point apart. Zaza and Smoove staying out of foul trouble. Speedy and Lue getting into the paint. Lebron is coming off a poor showing against Charlotte, he's going to be looking for a big game. Everyone should know that he is going to get his against Smoove, but Joe is also going to get his against ANY of the Cavs' guards. We may actually see more Childress (possibly even Joe) on Lebron and Smoove playing Gooden. I'm hoping and praying that we win tonight, but it's going to be tough. My preditions (see sig) are on track and this is one that...
  3. Quote: Quote: They are really trying to get that 'cool' nickname to stick. I think its a great point that this year its clear where the offense runs. This is Joe's team. We haven't had that in a while. It took them one horrible game to realize they weren't playing the way they should. Last year it would have taken 10. that "cool" nickname starts getting on my nerves about half way through the article. If I'm not mistaken, that's the nickname used in the team's intro vid. I'm not to thrilled either... Joe Johnson linked to a debunked cig character. That just seems wrong.
  4. Quote: Quote: Smoove looks like a crappy version of Antonie Walker. ouch! I don't know what crawled up Hot's *ss and died, but he's statement is completely false. Josh played decidedly better in this game than the first two. I actually thought he did really well in the times he had to guard Howard. And he drove to the hoop a couple times. Everyone that is stressing over his three 3-point attempts a game need to get over it because he's going to average that throughout. And Woody seems to be fine with that seeing as though that was the play he called to finish out the half (in which Josh connected). As an aside: The Orlando announcers mentioned at some point that Woodson said Smoove was really "feeling" the PF position and was looking forward to playing it this year. They also mentioned that with Marvin down it has forced him back to the 3. Doesn't say a lot, but it does in some ways.
  5. Quote: The only thing Shelden has done well is rebound. Everything else he has sucked at doing, he got abused by Webber and Lee last night. Smoove will not be losing his starting job anytime soon. I would have to disagree. Webber really wasn't a factor after those first few positions. After that Sheldon did well. Last night against the Knicks he played much better. The stats may speak differently, but I think Sheldon and Lee played pretty evenly. I'm actually beginning to think that Smoove is missing Marvin being in the lineup with him. I think they were beginning to get a connection (already had one) and now that Marvin is out, Smoove has to re-adjust. Never fear, Smoove has started out slow each year and improved throughout the year. I think we all were hoping this year would be different, but the truth is that Smoove is still young. Needless to say, I believe he will come around much quicker this year than in the past two. I have a feeling that in one of the next three games he'll have a huge game and then go from there.
  6. Quote: Quote: He has been one of our best players on the defensive end so far. Best defensive player? Smoove was getting lost all last night on defense trying to guard Q. Richardson. You see this is the kind of bias that gets to me. Everyone will say that Zaza played poorly on defense and needs to improve then turn around and say that Smoove was great on defense when it was clear that his man continued to beat him underneath. Oh well believe what you want to believe. Honestly, those Q.Rich scores down low weren't all Smoove's fault. The Knicks where running a screen on him along the baseline and no one was switching. This isn't to say that benching Smoove might not be for the best. If his poor shot selection continues then I could see it, especially with Chillz playing so well. Then again, Woodson probably wants Chillz to continue coming off the bench with the energy he supplies. Honestly, I think we're pretty close to having a half-court offense. Joe/Chillz/Sheldon/Zaza have seemed pretty solid. Hopefully Speedy comes along in the next couple games.
  7. And don't forget The VPP backing up the PF/C positions. I'm sure The VPP will get extra minutes behind Sheldon if he continues fouling at the rate he did this game.
  8. I guess I may need to be a little more quiet about Glyniadakis being cut.
  9. Quote: Apparently the Hawks like Jones because they gave him a two year deal. Two things: athleticism and defense. When Jones fills in, he's going to be really good.
  10. It was Lue, Johnson, Childress, Jones and Pachulia, right?
  11. NBA.com, then go to a game in progress, click the League Pass logo, then Atlanta.
  12. Someone get a defensive rebound, please.
  13. Quote: Quote: why? freije costs less than glyn? I shall dub him Matt Fre-stiff LOL!!
  14. Quote: i woulda personally taken bozeman/glyn and cut andre/freije, but i didn't see the practices/scrimmages/preseason games, so what do i know Agreed completely.
  15. ...you'll see that I'm predicting a 13-16 start. This was before the injury, but it's definitely still possible.
  16. Arg, where were you this morning. Oh well, still it was intersting discovering these averages on my own. Thanks.
  17. Since I couldn't find Pre-Season Averages for our players anywhere I went ahead and figured them out. Joe is PHENOMENAL! He is averaging 22.2 PPG in 30.2 MPG at 52% (45-86) from the field, 50% (17-34) from behind the arch. He's also shooting 81% (26-32) from the stripe. The rest of his numbers go like this: 4.3 APG, 3.7 RBG, 1.2 SPG. The exception is 3.5 TOs PG. Smoove is about where he was in December of last year. He's averaging 12.3 PPG in 34.5 MPG at 44% (27-62), 42% (11-26) from behind the arch. He's shooting 90% (9-10) from the line. The rest: 6.3 RPG, 2.8 APG, 1.3 BPG, 1.2 SPG. Again, the exception is 3.8 TOs. Marvin (arg, the hand) was also doing very well, averaging 11.9 PPG in 35.2 MPG at 44% (27-62), 50% (2-4) three --crazy how he and Smoove shot the same number of shots, but Marvin also had an extra game. He was also shooting 75% (27-36) from the line. The rest of the numbers: 5.8 RPG, 2.0 APG, 1.0 SPG, .7 BPG. Exception: 2.4 TOs. I didn't do Chillz because, honestly, nothing was standing out about his numbers. Sheldon on the other hand... He's averaging 8.4 PPG in 22.3 MPG at 43% (20-47, 0-1 from the arch). He's shooting 83% (19-23) from the line, 83%! The rest: 6.3 RPG, 1.0 BPG, .9 APG, .3 SPG. The exception to the exception, only 1.4 TOs PG. Now, to explain the exceptions. These numbers are WITHOUT Speedy. No knock on Lue, but he's never really been known as a true blue distributor. Again I'll say, I cannot wait to see how we play with Speedy in the lineup. And, since I'm at it, I believe Sheldon SHOULD start. He gives us the extra inside presence to go along with Smoove in covering up Zaza's defensive deficiencies. I hate to say it, because I was looking forward to Marvin starting, but I think Sheldon may have the starting role locked by the time he recovers. Marvin may be coming off the bench for another year (possibly longer if Smoove AND Sheldon blow-up).
  18. What bull! Glyniadakis should have been in.
  19. Yeah! I'm so excited for the season to start. I may have to pony-up and get League Pass so I can watch these freakin' games.
  20. Found this over on the RealGM boards and thought it was sort of interesting. Bucks vs. Hawks I think both teams may be pretty even this year. I believe Milwaukee may fall a bit; they'll definitely miss TJ. Either way, I think both teams are one the upswing (even if the Bucks tumble a little this year). What I really found interesting is the link to the Milwaukee board where they debate who is better, Redd or Joe. It's funny cause the Bucks are all saying Redd while some poster's are trying to explain Joe's all-around game. It then goes to the General Board where most other posters state that they would rather have Joe. Just sort of interesting. Sorry if it's been posted previously.
  21. Quote: Quote: Quote: Who will stay and who will go ??? Find out next time in "As the Highlight Reel Turns" Ha ha, ha... uhm, yeah. That was kind of corny. Hopefully all the guys are staying focused about the job at hand and not looking ahead...Woody needs to tell them: "Like sands through the hourglass...these are the 'Days of Our Lives'".....sorry-gag Ha, glad I'm not the only one who remembers that stuff. Hell, I'm sure it's still around. I just remember my mom's being big on soaps so I was always drawn into the one way or another.
