  1. That was a SLOW 4 mins. It didn't sound like we were running at all.
  2. What an awkward lineup... Law AJ Childress Horford Williams ???
  3. Quote: That's awesome. What quarter is it, how much time left? 3rd @ 4:04
  4. Smoove to Horford on fast break. Oh, this season is going to be fun. Horford is for real.
  5. Marvin being a little aggressive...
  6. White Team - PG - Law SG - Childress SF - Marvin PF - Smith C - Shelden 6th - Stoudamire Blue Team - PG - Speedy SG - Lue SF - Johnson PF - Horford C - Pachulia 6th - Jones I must say that I am intrigued by our line-ups. I would trade Stoudamire for Jones and either team would be respectable; though I would roll with White over Blue. Smith, Childress, Marvin, & Shelden > Johnson, Horford, & Pachulia (you'll have to excuse me for not adding PGs in that equation, that's still to be determined) This truly shows how deep we are; I sometimes fear too deep...
  7. I got to say, after watching that I'm majorly hyped. Why must it take so long for the season to begin?
  8. Quote: This board has alway been about josh Smith! He is the only player on the team that doesn't have heaters because of his athleticism. He is the main reason we are calling for a quick point guard to in theory set Josh Smith up for fast break dunks. This is not entirely true. Josh is a very special player who can do many things on the court very well and few badly. I'll admit that I didn't get to see a lot of the games this year, but one of the things I liked most about his game in the ones I did see is how he forced the ball up the court creating fastbreaks much like a PG would. I think the biggest issue with Josh (again, from what I saw) is movement; he doesn't move enough without the ball. Though, in saying this I have to wonder if Woody's schemes don't attribute to this bad habit in the slightest. Movement also applies to rebounding, though not every player can be like Wallace or Rodman in this regard. Quote: He is also the reason people hated the Shelden Williams pick is because Williams might be a better power forward than josh Smith. I won't go into whom I thought we should have picked instead because that arguement has been beaten to death. I will say that I was completely fine with Williams selection because I thought he would be a solid backup and, best case, could play a little C. Not sure about C, but I do believe he will be our best PF this coming year. Quote: This is also the reason bringing in a good shooting point guard is frowned upon because he might hit shots instead of setting up Josh Smith. I honestly wish for a shooting PG. As another mentioned above, having a shooting PG would force defenders to be honest. Let me finish by stating that if we had to enter next season with the exact players we had at the end of the season minus the ones we will not be resigning, I'd be fine with it. Reason I say this is because I believe we are a lot better than what our record showed. I do buy into the injury excuse (though BK's deals were a little of base on Claxton). Going off of what was stated by previous posters in this thread, the following lineup is quite decent. Not world beaters, but good enough to get into the playoffs (just need to remain healthy). A.Johnson | Claxton | Lue J.Johnson | Stoudamire Smith | Childress S.Williams | M.Williams Pachulia | Jones | Wright
  9. I'd take on bad contracts if we could get Oden. If not, I keep it and take Conley at three. Screw trading down, he's worthy of a top 3 pick.
  10. I usually follow draftexpress.com, though they don't really have much on team needs and such (which nbadraft.net usually does leading up to the draft).
  11. Time to get over it. BK and Woody WILL BE here another year. Honestly, it's not that bad.
  12. My top five after Oden/Durant and short reasonings to why: 1. Oden 2. Durant (sorry to say, M.Williams would have to go. Actually, a scary thought would be BK moving Smoove instead of Williams for a star PG or C) 3. Horford: He's 6'10, 235 lbs. and I can see him building his body. He'll be a very good PF/C in the league and I'd like to see a lineup consisting of Claxton, Johnson, Smith, S.Williams, & Horford. I think that's a strond defensive unit which won't have difficulty scoring. 4. Conley: I think everyone's given him enough play, so I won't really discuss other than to say he may not have an impact at the beginning of the season, but he'll be SOLID on his way to star in time for the playoffs. 5. Law: I have a feeling that he may struggle for he's first few seasons, but as he matures in the NBA he will become a star ala Billups. He may actually work out better than Conley for the Hawks (working in combination with and learning the ropes from Claxton). 6. Brewer: This kid is going to be a freakin' stud in the league. I don't care if he does have to develop behind Johnson. I'd send Salim and Childress packing to allow him grow. 7. Hibbert: I honestly haven't watched a lot of his play, so I can't give a fair judgement here, though I can't believe Georgetown's newest product will be a failure. I even like how he doesn't necessarily 'want' to come out, but certain conditions are forcing him to. Shows character.

    Ouch

We should have gone after Marcus Banks or Jannero Pargo. Darn hindsight crap...
  14. I've been reviewing PG options this coming off-season and have come down to three FA's I really think would put us over the top (or at least get us to the Playoffs). Those three are Billups (of course), Mo Williams, and Steve Blake. Billups (6'-3") Approx. Averages 18p 8a 3r 1s in 37m ...is a given; best veteran PG free agent there will be. Though, I have to wonder how many more years does he got in him, he's already played been in the league for ten. Even if he is at his prime, I wonder how exactly he would far in a different setting (see Big Ben), especially with a team so young. Mo Williams (6'-1") 18p 6a 5r 1s in 37m Why have I never realized how much he does for Milwaukee? We're talking stats equal to what Billups produces. Of course, Billups has a solid 'mature' rotation to work with whereas Williams IS young and plays with other youthful 'potentials'. Still, I was shocked. Steve Blake (6'-3") since in DEN 9p 7a 3r 1s in 34m I was never really sure about him, but he is putting up some solid numbers for Denver. Out of the three, I think Blake is much more the PG we need (i.e. pass first). Other than that, there's also Jeff McInnis, though I'm a little leary of his recent issues. So, the question is which route do we go?
  15. Quote: Quote: I already expected Orlando to fall out of the playoffs(their schedule gets tough) and New York replacing them at the 8th seed. Now I think New York may end up 7th, allowing the battle for 8th to be fought by Miami (they still have Shaq), New Jersey (doubt it), Orlando (again tough schedule and erratic play) or Atlanta (we NEED to win at home). Why do you think NY is so much better team than us? Mainly because of the skill level and depth on their team. Say what you want about almost all of their players, but they definitely have skills. Plus, Isiah's got them playing at a high level and their having fun. I am a bit surprised that they didn't move Francis, but that's a different story.

  17. An interesting little tidbit I looked at the other day is that we are actually AHEAD in comparison to the last four seasons... 02/03: 14 - 28 03/04: 12 - 30 04/05: 08 - 34 05/06: 11 - 31 06/07: 15 - 27
  18. Was there anything mentioned about the logo, jersey and color scheme change for next year?
  19. It's becoming quite clear that Smoove and Marvin are our future at the forward positions. Again, they play well off of each other.
  20. Let me preface by saying that I would not want AI at the expense of "several" of our young players, or even a couple for that matter. Still, after this trade Iverson is going to go on one hell of a tirade and could quite possibly end up being in the running for league MVP. He's going to have something to prove, and he will do it. I honestly can't see Iverson in another jersey. It'll look SO odd. Still, it's too bad the Nets wouldn't be up for trading Carter to Philly for him. A Kidd/Iverson backcourt would be insane...
  21. Quote: Another stupid play call but JJ is clearly not 100% JJ definitely looked winded but Claxton looked awesome late. I wish they would have gone to Marvin more in the fourth, but so it goes. I'm still excited about where we're heading as a team.
  22. Quote: But lately he hasn't settled for as many jumpers, he's attacked the basket, and he's hit more jumpers when he takes them...and he hasn't turned it over in transition after getting rebounds as much. All of that has combined to make him a much better player lately after that huge funk he went through. I really think it might be about the comfort level he has when playing with Marvin. It's like they were meant to play together...
