  1. Thanks for reminding me about Vince Carter..he is on the same plane with Wilkins. Vince seems to be injured way to much so perhaps I was thinking of Dominque has a player who played all the time and was a human highlight film. I hope the new owner asks Nique what can this franchise do for you so we can make you an important part of the team in management? While the decision made to trade Nique cannot be overturned the hawk's could still find a way to make him a priority after all he put the Atlanta Hawks on the map and is one of the top players ever.Show him some respect. I think Nique probably feels he is an average joe with the Hawks and some one the Hawk's can decide to get rid of any time since he is dispensable. Mcdavid has alot to do to bring some repsect back to the days when Nique was here.
  2. I saw about half of the show and am ticked I could not see the other half. Does anyone know if this show will air again with Nique? It is truly sad seeing the best player of the Atlanta franchise traded away and not much appreciation. I hope the Hawk's have a Dominquie Wilkins day for him every year since he was special to the franchise. When new management finally takes over I hope they plan on giving Wilkins an important role.Besides a GM,coach and scouting staff Wilkins needs to be part of the Hawk's plans. If he could not win a championship being a player maybe he can while being in managment. It seems like a fantasy thinking the Hawk's ould win a championship.Maybe a assistant GM job for Nique? I will tell you that the first time he played in the NBA Dominuque would throw in the face duinks and everyone the announcers and fans could not believe this guy.His feet would practically be in your face and he just embarassed other players. No one including Jordan had the excitement he brought on the offensive side of the ball since you could imagine at any time he would throw one in your face.We may never see another player with the leaping ability as Nique.I know the new kid Lebron James is a spectacular dunker but Nique had such tremendous power in his dunking I have never seen it since. My favorite was when Nique would take off after missing a free throw and flying high over everyone and and dunk in your face.you just shook your head not believing it. I miss those days of Nique and the one time in Atlanta history the team had a chance to win a championship.Ever since it has been down hill!
  3. One thing to remember is to get a coach that is not a retread who doesn't have the ability to communicate with today's player. Look at Magic johnson and a few of the other coaches who failed. They could not deal with the work ethic of today's players.Back in the day of Magic,Bird,Jordan these players lived and breathed basketball. I think a youger coach is needed.Alex English would be a good choice! Just think of how many assistant coaches never get an opportunity and retreads are always hired. I also think Dominque Wilikins needs a position with the new regime. Every club needs an ambassador or important position for a player who means alot to the franchise.Right now the Hawks have no image except a losing tradition. The draft is around the corner so I assume things will be up in the air by then which means who do the hawk's draft. This is an important pick even though it is in the later first round. I do not by the fact that all the good players are gone at this point in the draft. Good teams find ways to get talented players. It is hard to have faith in this team since looking at there past track record in drafts it is pitiful.I wish the ownership issue would hurry up and get done.
  4. If Mcdavid wants to make an impact he better start doing the things it takes to be successful. 1.Get a quality GM 2.Pay for quality scouts 3.Decide who the coach will be Then eventually get a superstar to not only bring in the fans but build around him .Right now there is nothing to get excited about. No one on this roster is top 10 in the league or 15. Until Mcdavid takes over the team the Hawk's are in limbo.
  5. While watching ESPN with David Aldrige they went around the league with coaching rumors the only team not mentioned were the Hawk's.Just another diss by ESPN not respecting the Hawk's.I guess the NBA doesn't give a hoot about what the Hawks do.Even Cleveland gets more respect than the Hawk's. I hope this new owner makes some major changes. top of the list is a top GM which I would not mind Billy Knight. Then a scouting staff. I did here that Alex English deserves a chance and has a great baketball mind. Until the Hawk's get there act together the rest of the league falls asleep when they talk about the mighty Hawk's. -
  6. After reading up on Chris Bosh there is no way I would pass on him for a small guard like TJ Ford. Bosh looks to have potetnial to be one of the best in the league. At this point the Hawks need a player like him not only to attract fans but finally find a potetnail dominate big man at power forward. In addtion the Hawks may get another player and keep there 21 st pick....I hope this deal goes down the hawk's franchise needs something major to happen to get excited about. The Falcon's got Vick and are selling out the Hawk's,the jury is still out!
  7. I would trade Reef for the No 5 pick .If Eddie Jones were offered in the deal which I doubt then it is an absolute steal.I could see if the Hawks got Grant and the 5th pick the Hawk's drafting TJ Ford. A speed player that could create some excitement which the hawk's have not had in a while. With the 21st pick if he is available I would take Michael West. For some reason(probably size) he is not among the top 10 players but the guy dominated at Xavier. You would have 2 impact rookies and Grant to fill in for loss of Reef. If the Hawks got Eddie jones and no 5 I would draft Bosh, not sure who at no 21but it would be a nice problem to fill another need.Either the way the Hawks improve from a boring team with Reef to a more athletic team by adding mulitple players. The Hawks have to do something.Carrying the same team may not even qualify you for the playoffs. At least try something new worse case scenario you end up with a high draft pick to rebuild.I hate the word rebuild but lets face it the hawks have been rebuilding for how many years.Let's it the right way.Get the solid core players in the next few years then when 2005 hits sign a big free agent who can take you to the top...for now Hawk's fans have nothing to cheer about with this team. I hope whoever is GM has some imagination and knows talent so,ething the Hawk's have lacked for years thanks to Babcock!
  8. Although David was a minority owner of the dallas mavericks what worries me is before Mark Cuban the Mavericks were a run of the mill team.Does that mean the Hawks will continue to be mediocre? I sure hope not....however a change needs to be made and just maybe finally the Hawks will have an owner who will clean house and hire scouts that know what they are doing.
  9. Would Jerry Krause be a good GM for the Hawks? He was forced out probably becasue of the team struggles after Jordan left but still was executive of year for 2 yrs.Of course having the greatest player in the world with Scott Pippen and other role players helps. Most teams don't seem to give a shot to a new GM and the recylcing of GM's occurs time in and time again. I bet Babs ends up some where which he has proven he is incompetent. Yes he may turn it around with a good scouting staff but I would not take the chance if I were an owner. My vote is for Doc Rivers as GM or even Fratello. No way do I give both the GM and coaching job to one person.Look at the falcon's and Dan Reeve's. Reeve's proved he couldn't do it and ruined the franchise for years.
  10. I just saw the score against the Warriors. What in the world is happening getting blown out by the Golden State Warriors.I know they have talent but for the most part they get blown out against most competitive teams. The defense is atrocious and the Hawks will never win anything without better defensive players. Lets see do I have this right about the Hawks. No fan base because they don't have athletic exciting players, no ability to play defense, lack the right talented players to win,no leader, a GM who has had more than enough time to fix things. The Hawks are like puttng a square peg in a round whole. They just don't have the right players. A major overhall is needed if the Hawks hope to do something in the future. One team that would be a good match is the Clippers.Andre Miller,Lamar Odom,Brand for starters! not sure about the contract status but with the combination of Hawks players and Clips there could be a deal done. Both franchises struggle and for the Hawks they need players that are young, athletic and can be star players. NBA players love the city of atlanta but no one wants to play there.Losing has to be the main reason since if you win generally fans will show up.If you win with exciting players that will take your team to another level.Alot of questions with this organization and few answers.
  11. I know we have saidf this over and over as I read the post on this board but here are my thoughts. The biggest problem with this team is no talent evaluator at the top. There are to few scouts a GM that doesn't know squat about talent and is not accountable for his actions. If the Hawks franchise were serious about getting better here is what they do: 1.Fire Babs, he has had how many years at the GM position? Hew came from Denver another horrible place. Some people in life just seem to slide thorugh year after year without meeting there responsibilities. Get a talent evaluator in here who ever that is but fire Babs. 2.every player is up for trade and as far as the free agents let Terry walk and Ratlif. I am not up on all the free agen stuff but while Terry can score he is just to small to be guarding the Kobe Bryant's of the league.Ratliff is to injury prone and not afigure to build around. 3.Get a point guard Andre Miller would be a great addtion.Championship teams have a qulaity point guard and a big man plus role players. The Hawks have role players,no big man like a Garnett and no point guard.I do not know what the hawks have to do to get a front line ahtletic big man since they are hard to come by. Stars out there who may bolt there teams would be Tracy Mcgrady, I think Garnett in a few years. The Hawks must get a top 5 player or maybe even a top 10 player in the league. Then you get a big man that is at least average in the middle and has size the rest can be role players. Until the following is done the Hawks are spinning there wheels. No leader, no chemistry and nothing from the top in guiding the Hawks to acquire these players. Also a better coach is needed.
  12. The deal is only good to get rid of contracts of Terry and Ratliff. I do not know about the contracts of the lakers players being sent to hawks but Kareem Rsuh would be an answer at shooting guard.I think the hawks are looking to free salary to make moves in free agency. This also could be the start of the house cleanng since Henderson,SAR have big contracts.I hate giving up SAR but he is not one of the superstars to lead a team to the championship. He is a very good player .
  13. I thought the first round pick the hawks have this year goes to Memphis? If the hawks have one of the 3 worse records they keep there pick,is that right? What a terrible year ot give up your no 1,just another sign of the ridculous moves Babcock has made over the years.
  14. There are a few things that have to be addresed by the Hawks to get this team finally liuve up to its potential. 1. A talented point guard -- ever since Blaylock left the Hawks have had numerous point guards that just do not know how to distribute the basketball. Preferably a big point guard in stead of the small players the Hawks have typically tried at the position. Andre Miller would be a good fit! 2.This team has no identity - the hawks have a collection of players that are good but not great. In order to be a consistent elite team the Hawks need bonafide elite players.Look at the top teams in the NBA,(lakers have Shaq,Bryant,)(Mavericks(Novinski,Finley)Kings(Weber, the guard who may not be a top star but certainly a great player during big games).....then there are the teams that have good players,no superstars but the chemistry is good and they play like a team(Pacers, boston) and teams that have one superstar(Portland,Timberwolves-last I looked they were 11 games over 500,San Antonio, houston) Where do the Hawks fit? They have no superstar, the collection of players stinks as far as chemistry. The end result a losing basketball team that the fans do not want to see. The solution: Go out and get a superstar! It will not solve all the problems and certainly getting one would cause alot of good players to be moved but do the hawks have a choice? At least people will come and see a superstar then you build around the star.As it now stands the hawks are not even close to being an elite team and how many years have they been rebuilding? 3.Get rid of Babcock -- the main reason the chemsitry isn't there is lack of judgement from the GM on which players have the talent and chemistry to win.Babs has proved beyond a doubt that he does not know how to build a team. How many years has he had? didn't he come from the Nuggets a team even worse than the Hawks. How does a person keep his job for so long without producing results.A top talent evaluator is needed. All teams rely on the main person of the organization the GM who is repsonsible to build a team or destroy. The Hawks have many new players, new coaches and the one constant factor is Babs who must be fired or quit. 4.Will AOL continue to put money in a losing organization since AOL is having a difficult time financially.Maybe they should sell the team? 5.Are the hawks strapped to much to get rid of players to finally rebuild with the right players. The solution seems obvious,I would gut this team and hopefuly land a star like a Garnett to build around. Can someone answer this question if the hawks do not finish in the top 3 worse records don't they give up there first rounder this year? If so another pitiful move by Babs setting this franchise back.Watch that pick which Memphis owns become Lebron James.now that would make everyone pissed. Terry is a nice player but depending on SAR,and Terry plus robinson to build the dynasty just isn't going to happen. If the Hawks were unable to get a superstar it would be interesting if they just got an Andre Miller to see what the collection could do. Teams that win championships have a quality point guard, and another superstar.I think it takes 2 superstars to win championships which is why the Nets,Spurs,Timberwolves probably will never get to the next level. The Hawks do not have any superstars wish is going to be the downful for years until management finally makes the choice that good players don't win championships but role players do with superstars. The lakers have the big 2 Bryant and O Neal and the rest probably could not start for many teams.Reminds me of the Bulls in there championship years having Jordan and Pippen.
