This ain't that complicated to me. You do the same plan as you were going to do with the 10 pick only now you get a better player to do it with.
You were never going to significantly alter the team in 25 through the draft. So do the trades and use the tpe amd add the No 1 now for exactly what No 10 was supposed to be....depth.
Draft Sarr and start him in CP or start him on the bench. But you still gotta make trades and change the roster. How the heck does a gift like winning the lotto result in a drastic paradigm shift like tanking? Craziness
This, this, this.

Imo, the Hawks should be looking to make changes that will help them win next year as they don’t own/control their first round picks for the next three years. However, the 2024 pick should be about getting the best player longterm, not next season. Rookies don’t typically drive winning at a high level anyway.

I'm not interested in picks 4 and 8 and whatever for Trae. Did San Antonio also beat the odds in getting two lottery picks?

Quin would absolutely revolt if the Hawks traded either Trae or Dejounte for picks. He didn't come here to rebuild.

Yup...already seeing interwebs crawling with SAS has 4 and 8 and Hawks picks.
That combined with radio silence from Trae makes me a bit nervous.

The only trade down I would be remotely interested in from SAS would be for #4 and our 2025 pick back. That's it.
But then who would be the target at 4 with the top 3 gone?
I suspect if the Spurs come calling, it won't be for the pick. It will be them asking for Trae which I'm NOT down with.

Which player do you want to trade the pick for?
I don't see the value in trading down for MORE picks in this draft.
Agreed. My anticipation is that any offers for the 1st pick are going to be subpar.

No reaction from Trae yet. It's a bit puzzling.
Agreed. I hope this isn't a situation where he wants the Hawks to trade the pick for veteran help because he wants to win now.

I'm thinking getting the 1st pick probably throws some cold water on the Ingram trade chatter. If Sarr is who they take, hopefully they hang on to OO. On another note, still no peep from Trae. Is he happy about this outcome or not?

When it comes to bigs especially, what kind of motor do they display? With bigs, the intagibles matter ALOT.

Waiting to hear from Trae. I want to hear his thoughts on getting the # 1 pick.

Just going out on a limb, I don't think anybody is going to trade a star player to the Hawks for the 1st pick. The Hawks will get offers, but I doubt they will be good ones.

Lol, are they trying nudge the Hawks into trading Trae by giving them the number one pick like they did with New Orleans and Anthony Davis? Just kidding...congrats Hawks.

I would prefer the Hawks not trade OO (in this alleged deal).

If ownership actually put as much energy and effort into the Hawks winning as they do in finding ways to operate on the cheap, we wouldn't be having this conversation. If only they worked as hard as Trae does on the floor to help this team win.

Or weeeelll Trae wanted this guy and we got him but then e erything they did was bad. It's all connected ppl all of this stems from letting a younger player dictate your direction, and when a fo guy finally say nah we ain't doing that that person gets ousted. Could we spend more money yes but who are we getting NBA isn't a grocery store where u can go just build teams. And Trae knows that which is why he needs to say if he wants to go now because we actually may be forced to do more of a rebuild than a retool here, weren't in a great position now.
I disagree with all of this. It doesn't really matter who Trae said he wanted. At the end of the day, that's not his responsibility. That's not his job. That's on ownership and management. It's their job to build a competent team and they have yet to do that, period. So, let me be clear. The mess the Hawks find themselves in is not on Trae although the talking heads have pushed that narrative for obvious reasons.

Help is not losing/giving away on court talent/production for 2 straight years with no replacement. Help is not having zero depth. Help is not being reactionary but rather proactive in planning.
This, this, this. Which is why I fear Trae will ask for a trade at some point this offseason. If he does, I won't blame him. He gets all the heat and criticism nationally, while Ressler and company are the real issue with why the team can't win.

I think I got the winner of the worst Trae trades possible. This one features the site favorite PeliCan'ts.
Dude on bleacher report posited a 'Trae for McCollum, Daniels, and a pick' deal.
And wondered if that'd be enough for Atlanta.
It's gonna be a long summer, baybee.
It would be awfully nice if the move to squash this kind of nonsense happens sooner than later. The agenda driven devaluing of Trae is nauseating.

Trae voted 3rd most overrated player in the NBA.
I wonder if these things are pushed to bring down potential value...
It absolutely is.

You guys still trying to make murray and trae working is one of the funniest things ever. all the information is right in front of you on how that pairing doesn't work yet people still saying keep them because they don't understand what they gave up for murray doesn't matter anymore. It is the worst two man lineup on the team. They have a better win percentage and better net rating when one sits. Murray is gone
!!!
I agree that the pairing doesn't work and the likely outcome this offseason is one is traded. It will likely be Murray as that is what they've already tried to do. Murray absolutely increased his value after the deadline for everyone to see. So, hopefully the Hawks don't get anymore spam sammich offers.

Trae clearly wasn't ready and it's unfortunate because he was bound to be blamed. I'm disappointed Quin didn't give a little more run to Mo and didn't give any run at all to Kobe. The young guys would benefit from this experience even in a loss. The veterans are who they are at this point.

Hunter is reverting back to his old approach for some reason and it's not working.

For a guy who's 7'1, that handle and fluidity look like a solid foundation to work for his offense imo.
