Salary matching with the pelicans will be challenging.
They’d either have to include Nance (yay another undersized C) or maybe they consider McCollum to a 3rd team with assets coming to ATL? McCollum has been great for them so idk if that’s something they want to entertain tho.
I’m betting this is clickbait and it’s not legit. On to the next rumor. Only ~1 day to go!
Sadly, I think the Pelicans interest was leaked as leverage.

Prioritize players over picks, Hawks!!!

The only thing I'd be leery about with the Pelicans report is that it was leaked as a leverage play for something else.

Fonteccio a restricted free agent after this season. Ownership would have to be willing to pay to keep him, especially if he performed well.

Some of the smoke out there is starting to stink. Murray is listed as questionable tonight with "low back tightness".

There really is no basketball need for the Hawks to rush to trade Murray. However, ownership will be making the call, so...cost cutting move incoming?

Congratulations to Trae! Well deserved!

Good effort, but just couldn't get the stops they needed. Jalen, bruh. I know he's young, but he's got to get stronger with the ball. Nice to Hunter feeling good and playing well. On to the next one !!!

It's probably worth it to see what opportunities open up in the offseason when the Hawks will have Capela's expiring contract and picks as assets along with DJ.

Soooo, is this the attempt to lower his value OR is it gonna be the excuse to move him for a spam sammich.

Most of us have been saying that should never be the goal so I still hope it isn’t. Some insider feedback has indicated that getting a bigger fish is the goal. TBD.
That would make the most basketball sense. Let's see how much ownership cares about basketball.

Within the context of a GM doing his job adequately, I agree. Landry has to do his best. But the fact that we're even talking about this being the goals of a return for Murray is embarrassing.

I'll say this, if the Hawks accept one of these salary dump deals for Murray (prior to the deadline or not) then it's not a basketball move. I won't be upset with Landry, Kyle, or Quin. All the heat should go to Ressler and ownership.

That's not counting resigning Bey and the two first round picks though.
They also have to start preparing to extend Jalen. I wonder, if they don't move Capela by the deadline will they ever move him? He becomes an expiring deal next season, right? I'm sure other teams would covet that, but so will the Hawks.

At this point, I don't think anything happens with Murray prior to the deadline. With all eyes on him, he's reminded the league of his true value and the Hawks know they would be seen as suckas if they accepted these trash offers. However, you can count on the Hawks making a cost cutting move to duck the luxury tax for next season ala John Collins and Kevin Huerter.

Murray just continues to show that he's a top player in this league. The trade offers from other teams have been embarrassing. This current win streak probably doesn't change Murray's desire to be somewhere where he has the ball in his hands more. But, it should expose how ridiculous the low balling has been and how stupid it would be to salary dump him to avoid the luxury tax next season. Murray is an All Star level player.

Meanwhile, the team with two All-Stars and being discussed for a third one (Celtics) are about to lose at home to a Laker team with no LeBron or Anthony Davis.

Hawks looking to trade

3 p.m. deadline tomorrow. Just my opinion, it doesn't make much sense for the Hawks to hold Murray out of tonight's game unless you think you get something done. But, the Hawks don't always follow conventional wisdom lol. Something tells me the Knicks and Lakers are still lingering in these trade talks.
