Trae Young and the Hawks have now unfollowed each other on Instagram.
It appears to be a joke, Soth.

Ya know it would not shock me if Mitchell was open to coming to Atlanta to reunite with Synder and play with Trae.
wouldn’t shock me at all.

Probably gonna take Bogi, Jalen, and OO
then find a PF and/or SF for DJ
Whew, that's a high price. But, if you can convince him to sign an extension, you might have to pull the trigger.

What would a deal for Mitchell look like?

Fields is likely speaking to an audience of one...Tony Ressler.

No way the Spurs are offering 5 picks for Trae. And not just any bullshit picks, but a #4, an #8, and YOUR OWN picks which you have some control about how good (or bad) they are. Of course that is not being offered. But if it was there is NO WAY you don't take it.
Just spitballing and not advocating any of this because I want Trae in the ATL. I think it would be the 25 through 27 picks back plus Devin Vassell. If they say no to Vassell (they will), it would be the Hawks picks back plus Keldon Johnson and the 4th pick. Adding Trae to Vassell and Wemby would make the Spurs formidable immediately.

I'm not against trading Trae if he doesn't want to be here. I'm just against sending him to the Spurs or for draft picks. Trade him for another star and move DJ to the point if we have to trade Trae.
...and keep our pick.
In the event that it is the Spurs, they're going to have to part with more than the Hawks draft picks they own.

I tend to agree. I have mixed feelings about all of this.
also, I’d be curious to know how Trae is defining “contender”. We’d definitely be competitive if we keep #1 pick and trade Murray for another star or to round out the roster. But I don’t know if he would agree.
secondly, if Trae is asking to be traded (because we can’t get said superstar) then he needs to go to the team offering the best deal. I appreciate everything Trae has done but there’s no way I’d send him to the spurs just because that’s his preference. Absolutely not.
if the spurs have the most compelling offer - then sure. But ideally we should get a star in return for Trae and we should do our due diligence if we’re going to let him go.
If/when Trae asks out, I agree the Hawks should do their due diligence. I just get the feeling that the league made sure the most compelling offer would end up being the SAS.

This was DJ's reaction to the lottery results. He definitely knows some things lol.

Hell, keep Murray in this case. To quote Nacho Libre, "I wanna win".

The suggested trade would definitely work. However, assuming it's Giannis, how realistic is that he's asking out of Milwaukee right now? Also, I don't think the Bucks are looking to take a step back at this point.

Theoretically, the Hawks could give up that haul for a star and then trade Murray to further balance out the roster. The problem is (looks around league), who's actually going to trade their star for a package centered around the 1st pick in this draft? I don't see it.

yeah that might be worth it. We'd need hella shooters everywhere else, but it would certainly make up for our lack of defense. I'm drooling over the potential lineup of Giannis and Sarr manning the paint. Good luck scoring there.
That would be great. Unfortunately, I think the Hawks would have to trade the 1st pick to Milwaukee in that scenario if I'm not mistaken.

I was told the Spurs are offering 4, 8 and all our picks back for Trae. I was told this is the most likely scenario because Tony Ressler doesn't want to give up our first ever #1 pick and wants to use it.
Trae hasn't talked about the #1 pick because he wants it used to get a superstar player, I've heard a name twice once from my source and once from @NBASupes but I don't want to repeat it out loud just yet until my source is cool with it. It would cost us the #1 pick, Jalen and two additional firsts and I think Capela to make it work.
IMO that's too rich. I'd rather blow this up and start over than depend on two or three guys carrying a roster. Look at the Suns or Nets and how well that turned out for them.
I won't ask who, but if true, I would guess Giannis. At any rate, I don't see any team who has an established star trading them, especially if they aren't asking out. Lol, this whole thing seems kinda convenient for the Spurs, huh?

Heard from a guy that works with the team Trae went in and met with the front office yesterday to discuss the future. Will be interesting to see what comes out in the coming weeks.
Interesting. I believe Shams alluded to this taking place also. Anybody think Trae will ask them to trade the pick for veteran help?

DJ can guard his position and he costs less. I think ultimately it might be challenging to build a winner around Trae. Not saying we have to trade him. But if an offer is there that is acceptable for a player of his caliber, I would take it.
Trae is a proven star, the only one on this team. Picks 4 and 8 is not enough for him imo. If the Hawks trade Trae, you should be getting a star.

What if Trae told the FA “Get me KD, or trade me”?
Who here would rather have:
Trae + KD
or
Sarr + DJM?
The Hawks can make win now transactions that don't involve the number 1 pick. Getting KD won't be the only avenue.

What would you (the collective “you”) think if instead of trading DJM and parts to NOP for 26yo BI looking for close to $50mil, they send DJM, CC, #1 pick and parts to PHX for 36yo KD at $48mil?
KD most likely to get moved of their big three, they have no point guard, and no picks through 2030.
Trae
Bogi
KD
JJ
OO
I'm not saying I’m in favor of it, but just throwing it out there that it could be possible. 35yo KD scares me, but that’s a star for Trae.
If KD were 27, I would be okay with that. But at 35? Big picture, that's not good for the franchise.

If it were me, I'm not trading this pick.
I think Trae, some shooters, some defenders, and tweaks to the roster WITHOUT dealing DJ can get us into the playoffs. I think replacing DJ with the right player at a different position could get us deep into the playoffs. I would select Sarr, retool around Trae, JJ, OO and be done with it.
If I'm Landry, unless Trae has expressed some discontent, I'd make a definitive statement telling the press and rival GM's to f-off. If by some chance Trae was unhappy, I'd shut the circus down and just make a deal.
I agree. I wouldn't trade the pick. I'll also add that should Trae ask out, I wouldn't trade directly with San Antonio. I don't care if they offered all the picks back (they won't). Trae is a star and he shouldn't be traded for some discount offer just so the NBA can get their Wemby dynasty. Keep Trae and build a functional team for now and the future.

Who are we trading the pick for?
My thought exactly. If you told me that they were going to get a star level player in return, I could see trading it. But, that's just not going happen in all likelihood. I still believe the offers for the pick aren't going to be worth it.
