Just spitballing and not advocating any of this because I want Trae in the ATL. I think it would be the 25 through 27 picks back plus Devin Vassell. If they say no to Vassell (they will), it would be the Hawks picks back plus Keldon Johnson and the 4th pick. Adding Trae to Vassell and Wemby would make the Spurs formidable immediately.
If/when Trae asks out, I agree the Hawks should do their due diligence. I just get the feeling that the league made sure the most compelling offer would end up being the SAS.
The suggested trade would definitely work. However, assuming it's Giannis, how realistic is that he's asking out of Milwaukee right now? Also, I don't think the Bucks are looking to take a step back at this point.
Theoretically, the Hawks could give up that haul for a star and then trade Murray to further balance out the roster. The problem is (looks around league), who's actually going to trade their star for a package centered around the 1st pick in this draft? I don't see it.
I won't ask who, but if true, I would guess Giannis. At any rate, I don't see any team who has an established star trading them, especially if they aren't asking out. Lol, this whole thing seems kinda convenient for the Spurs, huh?
I agree. I wouldn't trade the pick. I'll also add that should Trae ask out, I wouldn't trade directly with San Antonio. I don't care if they offered all the picks back (they won't). Trae is a star and he shouldn't be traded for some discount offer just so the NBA can get their Wemby dynasty. Keep Trae and build a functional team for now and the future.
My thought exactly. If you told me that they were going to get a star level player in return, I could see trading it. But, that's just not going happen in all likelihood. I still believe the offers for the pick aren't going to be worth it.
