Nah, DJ's deal is not negative value. You don't salary dump him and the Lakers don't get everything they want in this. We'll see what happens. I'll tell you now, if the Hawks accept the deal you're proposing, Trae will soon be asking out.
Multiple reports have already indicated that the Hawks would require Reaves in any deal. Yes, Reaves is a bad defender, but he's more valuable than D'Lo's expiring contract. If they want D'Lo's expiring deal to get off salary, then send Capela or Hunter along. But, you have to get positive value for Murray.
I wonder if the Hawks will ask for Gabe Vincent in this deal. I know he's injured right now, but he would help with shooting and defense in the backcourt when healthy.
Okay, I guess I misunderstood. Maybe they see him fitting well with IQ in the backcourt. Probably doesn't happen since Siakam doesn't want to come to Atlanta (allegedly).
The only problem with this is Reaves is not good defensively. I watched some of the Suns/Lakers game last night and the Suns were targeting him on defense.
The part about the Lakers, smh. Austin Reeves is a good player, but he's not as good as Dejounte Murray. The idea that the Hawks would have to give more in a deal with the Lakers is unserious.
I'd imagine JJ, Bam, and Jimmy Butler are all off limits. That would leave Kyle Lowry, Duncan Robinson, Tyler Herro, and Caleb Martin. Not sure what draft compensation they have.
"And at this juncture, to varying degrees, the Lakers, Knicks, Sixers, Heat and Pistons are five suitors expected to engage Atlanta about acquiring Murray over the coming days and weeks before Feb 8"
What would the Heat offer for Murray?
