  1. Even if Joe Johnson doesn't help us. we get our draft picks back. The only way we lose those picks will be if we make the playoffs, and since no one sees that happening this year, we will probably end up getting at least one of those picks back. But you gotta get over it, we arent a winner yet, we will have to overpay to get more talent to come to Atlanta for a while. ~Peace
  2. Personally, I dont think so. Regardless of what he did this past summer, I feel that many teams may be wary of the fact that he has been rather injury prone. He wont be cheap to whoever signs him, but I dont feel that any team will offer him a max contract. He has had a "major" injury in almost every year that he has been a pro. It concerns me that he has missed major time during his entire career. I still hope we land him, but not for max money, and I pray that he stays healthy, because when hes healthy he can fill it up like the best of them. But this wont happen, because the only way we will land him is by giving him max money, Unfotunately....... ~Peace
  3. NO supposedly wanted him badly. And was offering an unhappy Magloire and the number 4 pick for 2. This would be a great move for us if we intend to draft D Will. It would help us fill our 2 biggest needs with a PG and All-star caliber C. ~Peace
  4. Quote: shut up dumbass you are probably one of those comet crazies. if you could read, i said he does have a good shot but he doesnt elevate which makes it a set shoot. that doesnt work in the nba. secondly i have played vs him in aau and high school and locked him up as we beat them in high school his jr yr and aau his soph and jr years so dont question my knowledge. your the idiot for saying he has pg abilites. it is more than being able to pass the ball dumbass. he cannot see the court like a pg should and he doesnt know how to run an offense. if you were at or saw the mcdonalds gm and heard about the practices you would know that. all you need to know about his atttitude is he and his coach are famous for the quote practice is ove that they put in the ajc after the oak hill gm. get outta here w/ ur weak tt He's right. Ive also played against him at Lenora in Gwinnett. But this is basically the same thing we hear in alot of NBA circles about PGs. I think court vision comes from being confortable with the ball in your hands and being confident to make the plays and passes neccessary to win. But to be honest we dont need him to be our PG, I remember someone saying that we should be looking to gather talent on this team now. What better way to gather talent than by using a second round pick on a player full of it. True, it is hard to make the transition from PG to SG. But if he works hard enough at it (and I believe he will and is) then I dont see why picking him in the second is a problem. He can grow an inch or two or put on 15-20 lbs in the NBA. You cant teach the talent to put the ball in the basket. He still hasn't hired an agent so he still has the option of going to college (which i also think he could benefit from) But I seriously think you need to chill out with the Louis bashing. It's really not needed and I feel that there is no place for that here. He's a good kid, who is taking the risk of skipping college to immediately improve his life now. He has a ton of potential and he has good work ethic. He's trying to learn how to do something new, give him some time. Using a second rounder would give him the chance to sit on the bench a year or two and improve his overall game. BTW,I dont know what you are talking about when you say he shoots a "set" shot. When I've seen him play it looks like he gets plenty off the ground on his jump shot? ~Peace
  5. When I said that Billups and Williams were comparable, I wasn't talking about foot speed. Williams is quick enough to get by. He and Chauncey are very physical for PG, and they have good size. Andre Miller just might be quicker than Billups, why don't we just say that he's a quicker Mark Jackson with a better shot? ~Peace
  6. I think getting the number 2 pick was a blessing in disguise. If we got the number 1, it was almost a no brainer that Bogut would be our pick. At number 2 it gives us more options. Depending on how desperate the Bobcats are in nabbing their hometown hero (Paul) they may be willing to do a deal of both their lottery picks for the number 2 pick. Without us having to give up Harrington. That would be great. We could also trade down one spot wiht Portland. I dont like Paul's game. He's too small, not very physical, and not as good a defender that we need at the PG spot. He sometimes loses agression as a scorer, but I still rate him ahead of Felton. I really dont like Feltons game. He seemed to always underachieve, he lacks a mid-range game, and his 3pt shot was not consistent and dependable. He also gets out of control and dribbles too high sometimes which results in alot of turnovers. Right now, I rate Felton as the bust of this draft. Deron Williams is my choice as our lottery PG. He is an EXCELLENT,PHYSICAL defender who can shoot with consistency and distribute. He has great court vision and dependable ball handling. I think a very fair comparison would be Chauncey Billups in his Minnesota and Detroit days. So now we've got plenty of choices. Instead of just taking Bogut at number 1. ~Peace
  7. 1.Milwaukee has alot of needs. But I wholeheartedly feel that Bogut will be there pick. They do need an athletic swingman who can score, but a talented big-man is much more rare. And if you look at the guys they have had occupying the middle for the last couple years, you would see why Bogut is their pick. 2.We are in an odd position. We dont need another Swingman in Williams. And the consensus is that Paul would not be a good fit here. So that basically leaves us with Deron Williams, who most Hawks fans and their coach and GM adore. Some feel that 2 is too high too pick him,but I say whats the difference between taking him at 2 and at 5? We could do a deal with Charlotte for both of their first rounders for the #2 pick so that they could take their hometown hero Paul. Or we could trade down with Portland, who will be looking for a athletic swingman with potential to replace Darius Miles. We have alot of options, maybe getting the number 2 pick wasn't so bad afterall. Instead of being pressed into picking Bogut, now we are in position to make a deal for 2 first round lottery picks without giving up Al. Hmm? 3. Portland needs another Swing player. Their eyes will probably be set on Williams somehow falling another pick. It is unknown of exactly who they want. They dont need a PG, or a big man. So that leaves their only need as athletic 2s and 3s. ~Peace
  8. Knight said it when he first came here. I didn't purposefully leave Diaw and Donta out the rotation. I just didn't completely fill it out. I never said that we BADLY need a SG,because Chill can survive at the 2. But he can also play and be successful at the 3, just as Joe Johnson can. They would be interchangeable. Johnson gives us some badly needed outside shooting and another steady ball handler. He's young and still developing with potential. Hughes is injury prone, look it up, he's always been good. But it seems that hes had some injury that kept him out an extended period of time every year he's been in the league. And I doubt that Redd would leave one loser to go to us when Cleveland appears to be just around the corner from contending. I'd stay away from Hughes unless we can get him pretty cheap and thats not going to happen. Bogut is going to be a solid contributor for whatever team he plays on. He plays steady defense and is a great passer and good rebounder. ~Peace
  9. So Bogut would be his choice. The Kings thrived off the passing of their big men, and good passing big men are VERY hard to find. Bogut I think will be a mix between Miller and Divac. Good passer, Miller-like Rebounder and defensive player, Divac like scorer. That sounds good to me. I'm almost positive that We will go after a young SG (Joe Johnson) and possible another Big man in FAcy and trade Al for another 1st. Then we would have PG-Jack/Lue/Louis Williams SG-Joe Johnson/Salim Stoudamire?/Chill SF-Chilldress/Johnson/SF PF-Smoove/Dalembert C-Bogut/Dalembert Thoughts? ~Peace
  10. Quote: what are you talking about felton doesnt have a 3 point game. i think hes a great 3 point shooter, considering he hardly ever is wide open, he has to shoot off the dribble. I wouldn't say he has a great 3pt shot. Its decent, not the most consistent. But he can shoot Fts and has no mud range game, that spells trouble there. I agree that the upside is there, but Deron Williams is too good to pass up on now and there is a huge potential to be a bust in Felton. ~Peace
  11. He cant shoot consistently from outside of mid range. He cant shoot free throws. He gets out of control. And with that team he's playing with, he should be averaging close to 10 Assist because he almosty always has the ball in his hands in their offense. He throws the ball away constantly, and he makes alot of bad mistakes. And they say Jack is turnover prone? Jarrett Jack is usually the only real ball handler on the court for his team. Elder isn't bad,but hes a shooter, not a ball handler. The more a PG has to handle the ball the more TOs he will make if he doesn't have other ball handlers on the court. Felton has 3 steady ball-handlers with Manuel and McCants. Jawad and Marvin Williams aren't bad ball handlers either. Any Thoughts? ~Peace
  12. I'm not talking about work ethic in basketball, he's young and he's going to make alot of big mistakes if he's not mature enough to make the jump. There's no doubt about his basketball ability, but why would you want a guy who has all the talent but possibly an off court distraction. If he wants to make it on the next level he knows what he needs to do to be successful on the court, the big question is what he will be like off the court. I believe it was an ESPN Insider, someone posted it here a couple weeks ago. ~Peace
  13. He's not only Raw, but immature. Insider's scouting report is that the main reason he thinks about NBAover college is because he doesn't have the grades to get into college and is fairly immature. He doesn't put for the work ethic in college, and that almost surely translates to immaturity. Look at Smoove (3.0 GPA at Oak Hill), Dwight Howard, Al Harrington (was about to commit to Ga.Tech before deciding on the NBA) and even Louis Williams. I'm not saying that you have to be a brain to succeed, but if you aren't even willing to do enough to get by, what does thatsay about you as a person. With anattitude assesment like this, it makesyou wonder if he is really serious, or if he's just some kid trying to live his childhood hoop dreams. Everyone wants to draft him based on potential, but based on history, immature HSers jumping to the NBA has proven to be a big mistake for most and a leap that many weren't ready to take(Leon Smith) ~Peace
  14. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2005/writ...mith/index.html SI has an article all about him. They tab him as the most exciting playr that you have never seen. ~Peace
  15. I agree with what you said about Smith and Walker, but I disagree with you saying that Harrington forced too many shots. Tonight he let his offense come to him,and stopped deferring his shots to Walker. We need to play this way every night, solid offense, good defense. I though Iverson was going for 60 in the first quarter. ~Peace
  16. We need a PG. We have been trying to become a perimeter, transition game type team. We are scoring more points now that we have gotten into more transition. The problem is that we aren't getting back on defense. This is in NO WAY Woodson's fault, actually,I like his stand on it. He simply said that he is not here to teach effort, and effort is something that his guys aren't giving. We can't stop the transition game because we can't stop the dribble. This is the number one rule in defending the transition game. Kenny Anderson is simply too old,Delk is simply not laterally quick enough yet.Ivey is the only one who can defend a PG one on one worth a flip. Walker's actions are the ones of someone who is getting desperate. He's lost faith in his teammates and is trying to do it all himself.Sad to say,Harrington is never going to play up to his level with him around, because Al has lost confidence is his offensive ability. Regardless of what anyone says,Walker cost us that Knicks game. He forced 2 BAD shots in the last couple minutes in both Regulation and Overtime.Instead of passing to the open man,he tried to run the clock himself and ended up forcing up an airball with 3 seconds left. After which Marbury scored in regulation and Crawford his his 3 in OT. He single handedly lost it by missing a clutch free throw and making the one he should've missed. He is hurting the team right now, because he isn't playing team ball, when he starts playing team ball,we will become more competitive. Harrington has began making a habit of deferring his shots to Walker. Childress did the same while he was starting. We need both these guys to get more aggressive. Its good to see Boris getting more aggressive and being productive. Kenny Anderson needs to be benched and I suspect he will tonight. He may possibly go on the IL when Ivey gets healthy again. Smoove has impressed me,its safe to say that he could but up Amare Stoudemire type # if he were starting. Jon Barry hasn't been playing, thats a concern and he's another guy who could go on the IL when Ivey gets back. I still wonder what happened to Troy Bell, all interest in him has cooled. Maybe he really stunk up his workout. I wanted us to try to bring back Mike Wilks when he was cut too,but we let him get away. ~Peace
  17. WE need a qucik PG who can defend. He still hasn't signed with anyone. I agree that right now we need a PG more than a C. ~Peace
  18. Try to post them by what he ^ said. He knows how to post pics. ~Peace
  19. I can't help you. I do know how to post a link, but not a pic. What do they look like? ~Peace
  20. Against the Heat. Anybody know what they look like? They cant be any worse than those lime gren throwbacks, can they? ~Peace
  21. They aren't "new". But I see the new color scheme. I wonder what Phillips is gonna look like now. ~Peace
  22. everyone else is wearing last year's jersey. Is Josh wearing his HS jersey, cleaned up to look like a Hawks jersey? Or is it a new jersey? Had anyone ever varified whether or not we were getting new jerseys?
  23. I'm sad to see him go as well. As are alot of Hawks fans. JT was the only recognizable face we had left. My Mom and sister couldn't believe that they traded JT. All I can do now is wish JT the best, and go find someone elses Hawks jersey to wear. Believe it or not, outside of the 'Squwak,JT was very popular with the fans. ~Peace
  24. Isn't he just like JT. Big deal that he lacks consistent aggressivness. Gordon is 1 inch taller & not as good a ball handler. He's never played the Point consistently at UCONN(maybe a short stint here or there) unlike JT who was a PG for his entired career at Arizona. But I hear the same guys who called for JT's head, for us to try to get Ben Gordon? Doesn't make sense to me...... ~Peace
  25. Geez I hope not. If new management wants to make an impression on the fans, they will bring back the pacman and some black alternate jerseys. ~Peace
