  1. I know that most of the people that i chat to, is saying the same thing about ASG, sure we are not the Clippers but its getting close. I think they are close to Rankin Smith era for the Falcons close. Most excs and agents is seeing this and they are telling their clients to be very careful with dealing with us. I hope that the Hawks can be sold this summer but I think its going to be very hard to find a good buyer.

  2. I think that would be the biggest splash to ever hit the NBA.

    Hawks Female Majority Owner...

She's young and a bonafide Billionaire. I would want her surrounded by Basketball people though. Scratch the Laettner group. I would have her to be working with Stan Kasten's ownership group (that could include Laettner. Or maybe Her, Kasten, and Blank...

    as co-owners.

One thing I know about Blank.. if he's involved, he will put up good basketball people and let them work.

But Stan Kasten is with Dodgers ownership (he and Magic Johnson brought the Dodgers for 2B), so he isnt going to be in any other ownership.

But I think her, Cox Family, or anybody that doesnt want to move the Hawks is good for the team.

  3. Even though I hate all things Dukie... If Christian Laettner could get his group together again and try to buy a team, I would like her to be the majority owner in the investing team.Laettner would give a sound basketball mind. He could even add sorry Danny Ferry to the mix.

Christian Laettner?!? that is the first time I heard about this. i am trying to remember when the Trashers was still in town and they were about to get sold to TNSE, i think it was a former black hockey player want to buy the Trashers, Hawks and Phillips for 500 mil but it was turned down.Cox family could be good owners (they are local as well) and for Blakely, I dont think that they have any females owners in NBA but it will be eye-opener for real, plus she can work together with Dream Ownership as well.
  4. Nothing...but the city and its fans do not support the team anyway. It is has always been a running joke how bad the fans are in Atlanta.

capstone21,i can totally understand you and believe me I got some feeling like that from time to time but let me tell you thisSure you can blame the fans and city but you can blame the ownership more. Did the ownership did everything in their power to bring fans to Phillps every night? NODid the ownership make the right decisions (i.e. marketing, FA, draft) to make this team marketable? Heck NoThink about this cap, the Atlanta Falcons been in the playoff 2 of the last 3 years, getting beat by teams that actually win the Super Bowl and they are now in talks in bring a new stadium that is going to eclipse Phillps, Georgia Dome, and Turner field combined. How that? I let you thik about thatAlso, you have to remember that between 2008 to now, the team stay the same, mininal changes, bad decision, and etc etc etc. Leading into 1st and 2nd defeats. People like changes and upgrades and working hard to get to their goal of a championship, not filling up the pockets with money from us the fans. Plus you got the economy to deal with well. All in all, if the ownership became serious and wants to get ECF and Finals and that label off of them they would had made a effort but do you see it? Hawks is much better off in Atlanta then any where else.If the ownership pulls their head out of their butts
  5. One of the best things that could happen to the Hawks would be a move to a new city

and leave Atlanta with what?Same situation like Seattle. No thanks. Besides the NBA isnt going to walk out of Atlanta and its viewers. Also it will make the City of Atlanta worst because we would had three teams leave this city (Hawks, Thrashers, and Flames), do you think another team wants to come here.
  6. I was think 2024 or something like that and i know that owners has to pay heck alot of money to break the lease to Atlanta Fulton County Recreation Authority. So I bet your bottom dollar that David Stern isnt going to let Atlanta (#9 in TV viewers) without a NBA team but then again, he did allow Seattle to get moved and he know that NBA is becoming 3 or 4 fiddle in the city (College Football, NFL, MLB, NBA), i wont trust him at all.

  7. I think that Larry Ellison wants to buy a team then move it to the Bay Area. But since GS is moving to San Fran and David Stern and owners isnt going to approve any relocation to Anaheim (Good News for Kings fans). Everybody knows that, as well. So ASG wont sell it to him but this is the ASG we are talking about.

  8. I don't think you need a firesale to sell the team. A prospective owner has to see the profitability of the Hawks. It's very simple. We have a potentially large Market, we have a team that has been in the playoffs for the last six years. We are not in the LT and we have a 1 paper town. IF the new owner can influence the news paper and the radio people... and then make some good moves, he can make this team over and not have to do a firesale.

Firesale, hmm maybe. I know that they need a clean sweep from the top but from the bottom (players), it determine if those moves would keep the Hawks out of the playoffs. But let me added this on, and this is important. Now that Memphis is off the table and any team wont be moved to Anahaim(Good News, Sacto fans but Seattle is lurking), there isnt too many other teams that is for sell, so that means that potential buyers is going to try to pay more to get it done and that is bad news.
  9. One of the two biggest reason why ASG cant get the Hawks sold: Their Debts and who wants them.Like Memphis, NO, Charlotte, Philly and Brooklyn (NJ) debts doesnt even compare to what the Hawks have. It is very toxic when you deal with stuff like that. Also, most of the people that is wants to buy the team is the same ones that would move the team in a heartbeat to somewhere else (St. Louis, Anaheim, Las Vegas), We dont have any local billionaire that wants this team, Mr. Blank would be a good choice but he is working a new stadium for the Falcons. At the end of the day, until somebody steps up and buy this team and keep this team here, the team isnt going to be sold.

  10. Atlanta can't afford him is the problem. If you take into account that they have to resign Teague and other players.

Teague, Zaza, and Marvin Option (and we all know that they would execrise that one), so it will be no money and we will have to get more Vetmin.
  11. Diesel,Believe me, it is about 98% of us wants to have changes within this organization but you know that I left out 2% because that is the ones that saying that we can go far with this group next year.So what is the difference between next year and years gone passed, The East could be weaker or stronger (determine by draft and FA), teams dont stay pat. They make good and tough decisions but the Hawks is so determine to stuck to this core, its crazy. You got Josh Smith, you know that you can get good (great, maybe?) value in him in a trade but readin Lang chat, and that is telling me that they want to keep him until the All-Star, that doesnt make any sense what so ever. This organization is pulling my last nerves. They got Grandiose delusion, even Dallas knew that they have to do if they want to win a championship (having Dirk is a nice bouns). I dont know what can a excuse that ASG can tell us that is going to make us believe in this core to get to the next level. They will still be clowned by local, national sport media and nobody wants to give them any respect at all.I been a Hawks fans since 1984 (around the same time as a Sonics (my Dad favorite) fan) and I been supporting this team through everything, good and bad but this is could be the breaking point for me.

  12. Or are you undervaluing Josh Smith. Josh Smith game is out there like Rondo. You know he is extremely talented but fit matters. Unfortunately, that's not in Smith's favor. I think Toronto will be very interested especially if Steve Nash is a strong possibility to sign with the team. They can use three headed talent in Smith, Bargs, and Jonas.

Its not undervaluing, it is about the other team can resigned him, he can go anywhere after next season, so the team will trade for him, will only have him for a year. I think with our ongoing GM problems, I am thinking that Josh is going to be stay as a Hawks after the Draft. I hope I am sooo wronnnng about this.
  13. I starting to think that this team is totally Curse or something like that. I dont know why they want to wait until the trading deadline to move him, besides around that time, we will be in the playoff hurt and then they will decide it will be better if we keep him and try to sign him (we dont have the money to resign him and he does want to go to another place). I think that this team needs to trade him during the draft period.

  14. Yeah, we stay put and we get embassed again in the first round, then what you say.Right now, this team need changes and badly, TheLastDon, I understand that we might have a chance but Boston got better star, better role players and better coach then we do at this moment.

  15. Marshall will start day 1.Machado, probably not but does he need to if he is getting 24-28 mpg.Nash and Deron probably aren't coming.Curry and Rondo probably aren't coming. We don't get a PnR PG, we might as well say f it again, we don't have a shot in hell without one.

Marshall starts from Day 1??? You kidding right. You have to remember that this is going to be Coach Drew last year here for coaching and believe it or not, he would pull a "Woody" and give Teague all of the burn so he can keep his job safe. So if we did get Marshall (or a big man, that we need the most right now) he wont be starting from Day 1. Unless Teague is traded, would that happen.
  16. Marshall (Maybe if get another pick, but wont be starting in the beginning)Machado (Same as above)Nash (I dont think so, he wants to go to a championship team or Toronto)Deron (Pipe Dream, for sure)S. Curry (GS isnt going to give him up since Ellis was traded, Curry is staying there)Rondo even though he is not a PnR PG (Boston wouldnt give him up)So at the end of the day, the available of PnR PG is slim to none and dealing the ASG, the chance because even smaller.

  17. I agree. The only reason I thought they MIGHT is because they struggled so much in the playoffs at SG. They were getting almost 0 offense from that position. The Grizz are supposedly shopping Gay yet again. I would love to get that guy. He's a stud.A core of Gasol, Randolph, JJ, Conley is pretty darn good and it's a great spot for Joe to really utilize his strengths.

Now getting Gay would be a great idea but there is 2 questions about this1) Would be straight up deal or with other players, I know that Memphis might want a draft pick or Atlanta may want one.2) How that will translate with Josh and his upcoming F/A? That would make it easier to more Josh or have enough to keep himFor me, I think a straight deal would work here and I think that Gay and Teague would make a awesome backcourt with Horford and two wings (Williams, Smith or somebody else).
  18. Heck . . you might as well say that Smith is ALREADY playing SF.

Josh took a whopping 499 shots from 16+ feet during the regular season. 109 of those shots were 3 pointers. Under Drew, Josh has taken

    460 shots from 16+ feet in 2011

    499 shots from 16+ feet in 2012

If you add the regular season AND playoffs

    526 shots from 16+ feet in 2011

    543 shots from 16+ feet in 2012

LOL . . that's 1,069 shots from 16+ feet in 2 years . . with Josh playing the 4. What do you think will happen if he plays the 3? He's going to post up more . . or he's going to jack up more jumpers?

The ONLY way I would be content with Josh playing the 3, is if he accepted a "point forward" role on the team . . you bring in a PF that will crash the offensive boards and rebound missed jumpers . . and if you got Joe Johnson out of here.

Because there's no way we can continue to have Josh and Joe taking the same type of shots. That's why this team stays so out of balance. I just don't buy this notion that Josh is going to reform his game into this post up demon if he played the 3. Woody tried his best to purge the jumpshot from his game, but under Drew, he's shooting more jumpers than ever. I don't see him ( or Drew ), limiting the amount of jumpers he'll take, regardless of where he plays on the floor.

To added to this, those 2012 number would been very much higher if they played a full 82 games season, so Josh as a 3 no-no
  19. When I was reading about Rick Sund Q and A and Jeff Schultz piece and I was think that if they did trade J.J. then they will have to admit that giving that type of contract to JJ was crazy in the first place. For trade him for a lottery pick, right now I would say "Yes", I know that Toronto is thinking about trading that pick and added salary as well. That is a good start but sometimes we might have to make tough choices to improved this team. With Josh is almost out of the door and Joe contract starts is balloning as well. They might to get rid of both of them.
