  1. I love Atlanta. Been here longer than Sap or Horford and I won't get us any closer to a ship either. Sign me.

Nor am I...This has been a problem with Jeff since the jump...Jeff had one great series against the Bulls and we all thought he would naturally be that way going forward. Nope didn't happen. Jeff has been inconsistent for the past 7 years. Sorry, we will just agree to disagree on this one,

Did you watch the series versus the Cavs?...Dennis outplayed Teague and Jeff is a poor on ball defender. Always has been. Bud certainly recognizes Teague's lack of aggression and basically says Dennis is the guy to come in and be a catalyst. Why is that? Why can't Jeff be consistently aggressive. When things don't go his way he doesn't recover. Opinions vary but when Jeff is bad....He is real bad. So you are OK with Jeff being passive in an elimination playoff game? Unacceptable.

There is good Jeff and then there is D League Teague...When he is off the rails he sulks, whines and is completely ineffective. When he is on he is a lot to handle. Unfortunately an All-star PG should not be riding the pine in the 4th quarter of an elimination game to the likes of Dennis. Dennis is the modern microwave. A shoot first guard that can rescue you or kill you. Dennis has more upside than Jeff but I am not convinced either are the long term answer. This conundrum must drive Bud completely insane. Certainly does me.
  5. Feels pretty damn awful sitting here on a Monday morning after my beloved Hawks were the only team to get swept in the second round. I appreciate everyone's opinion and really enjoyed hanging in the chat room with you all this year. That said I just can't understand anyone that would advocate with keeping this team together and just adding a piece here or there. The reason being is WE HAVE TO COME UP WITH A BONAFIDE SUPERSTAR. The Hawks had one back in the day and even his great talents weren't enough to get by the Celtics who had Larry and a boat load of other talented players...Those teams remind me of our current predicament against the Cavs although the 80's Hawks had enough talent to push the Celtics they just could never get by them. We will never get by the Cavs by keeping this team together and adding a piece here or there. Do you really care if we get eliminated First round, Second Round, ECF?? No one remembers nor cares if you are/were competitive. I want a roster that can compete for a title, don't care if we get there via free agency, don't care if we tank and rebuild. I am tired of being a good team...I want it all! Call me selfish but I hope the Ressler Hill gang can finally give us a blockbuster deal that will carry us over the HUMP (No pun intended). Time to put the big boy panties on and make some damn moves...The JSmoove, Joe Johnson, Horford/Sap eras are/were never going to bring us a title so why not at long last shake the hell out of this thing and see what happens. Enjoy the offseason brothers and sisters!
  6. Ask the Braves if they would prefer a passionate Owner or the status quo of not giving a damn by Liberty Media...I do agree that too much meddling is a bad thing but passion never hurts anything.
  7. So after last night...Anybody in favor of going into Frank the Tank mode? That was such a dreadful game...I have really enjoyed getting scoffed at for being a Hawks fan today!
  8. Bud is not a GM...That is also a big issue.
  9. The hawks are a good team. They are simply too flawed to ever be GREAT as constructed. We are 0-6 in OT games and we fall apart in the last 4-5 minutes of the game. We do not have a go to player and that just kills us. I was proud of the effort but we do not have a low post presence, a dominant wing player and you truly never know what your going to get out of Teague or Dennis. I hate Cleveland but they have a collection of guys that can flat out score. Seems as if we grind on every possession and we have too many stretches of sloppy play on both sides of the ball. I think Coach Bud even with his strange substitutions has gotten the most out of this bunch. I am hoping and praying we can claw out this series but I felt like we had to get Game 1. What say you Hawks' fans?
  10. HAHA! Damn I can't believe we didn't draft Chris Paul...So bad I listed him twice.
  11. As I am that Paul and Irving would qualify as an elite PG.
  12. Teague was the subject of the original post and I am saying that an elite point guard is part of the puzzle. No argument from me that we need an elite wing. By your logic...Are you saying you wouldn't want Durant cause he hasn't won a championship?
  13. Comes down to having an elite point guard...Good Teague is not as good as the following: Irving, Westbrook, Paul, Parker, Curry or Paul. Whether he is good or bad he is not near the player of any on this list. This is an Atlanta problem in not being able to get the great ones. Teague is a good player but he is never going to lead Atlanta to a title even at his best.
  14. Let's not act like the Hawks are a one seed that should be dismantling a team that is far inferior. Both teams entered the series with the same record. That being said after watching every game this season I just feel we have two players that are not legitimate starters in Bazemore and Korver. Bazemore is an offensive liability on most nights and while he tries to create his own shot he simply is not a good shooter. Korver is slow, can't defend and when he is off he really hurts us. KK tries but let's go ahead and call it what it is. I also think the rotations are a real headscratcher. The second unit is pitiful. Mid Range Seffy can't shoot and Mike Scott is a headcase that can't defend and don't even get me started on Dennis. Poor kid is a one trick pony. If he can't get to the basket he is a turnover machine that allows for too many empty possessions. Boston could win this series but I still like the Hawks chances and we really need to make some core roster changes next year. IF we truly want to bring a championship to Atlanta it is very clear that this is not the team that will do it. We are soft and can't shoot well enough to compete with the better teams in the NBA. We are good but as constituted will never be great. We have Zero shot against Cleveland. Zero.
  15. Al is softer than Drugstore cotton balls.
  16. This ultimately would be a very poor SMOOOOOVE on the Hawks part. Friends don't let friends do Mid-Range Shawty....
  17. They did look good tonight but these are not your Daddy's Boston Celtics either! The Hawks should handle this group handily and not a big deal. Much better effort and that was good to see!
  18. Very well said! Let's hope Bud can get these guys going.
  19. I agree with everyone's thoughts on Korver and his injuries as far as slowing him down but I believe there are deeper issues here. I watched the Nuggets play the Warriors last night and it was a foregone conclusion that the Warriors would win but the Nuggets were not laying down for a team that was clearly superior. They fought hard and played with great intensity until the onslaught of the warriors talent took them down. I believe the Hawks are a heck of a lot more skilled than the Nuggets but I am so sick of how soft we are...Softer than a jar of marshmellow fluff. I hate to seem like a premature whiner but some of you know I have been on and off this board for quite some time. I am glad we changed the regime and got rid of the AS, King and Woodson/Drew along with JSmoove and the lazy bunch but are we really that much better off. Regular season results are great, but we need a pack of wolves/mad dogs that want to WIN at whatever cost. Been a fan for 35+ years and still waiting for my Hawks to truly fly. Thanks for the thoughts and at least I can't vent here!
  20. Splitter makes Paul Mokeski look like Shaq.
  21. This team is very soft, can't rebound and really doesn't defend well enough to ever be a serious playoff contender. We certainly don't have that second gear that we had last year and we can't put anybody away early. Kyle has regressed, Dennis Schröder is not a starting point guard and I am beginning to wonder if he should be in the rotation at all. Bazemore is not a starter. Teague is very inconsistent but the only real dog out on the floor. The bigger factor for me is I don't feel the same intensity and hunger from the team. You have to want it to win it! Being 28th in the league in something as fundamental as rebounding tells me we aren't going anywhere. Millsap is not worth all the money we paid him and we simply do not have one single clutch go win us the game guy. Tell me I am crazy but having small forwards such as Kent Bazemore, Thabo and Lamar are not going to get us past the Cavs or any of the elite teams from the West. Al has decided he is three point specialist now and our biggest body is 20' + away from the basket. Bud looks lost and frustrated and for the life of me I am so sick of him stating that the Hawks have a lot of work to do at every news conference. The will to win can't be taught. You either have it or you don't. This team is softer than pharmacy cotton and I just wanted to call it like it is instead of listening to the mindless insider scoops of Jerome, Stinger, Andre and the gang. I would love to b able to ask Coach bud some "real questions". So frustrated with this current play and I certainly hope we have some answers but unfortunately I think we are what Barkley thought we were! LOL!
  22. John Jenkins would be a great NBA player if there was no opposing team. That way he wouldn't have to guard anybody and nobody would have to guard him. Might be the worst defender since Vinnie Johnson...Happy for him to find a home but just too many liabilities to ever be a starter in the league.
