  1. Are you kidding me? I will never leave the Hawks no matter what. Nobody should vote A, hawk fan for life baby!
  2. This was posted over on the ESPN Message Boards by someone who claims to have contacts in the DAL organization ... He claims it will go down on Aug 1st (Friday) A three-way BLOCKBUSTER about to happen between the Mavs, Blazers, & our Hawks Here is the Trade: DAL Trades: Nick Van Exel Raef LaFrentz Tariq Abdul-Wahad DAL Gets: Rasheed Wallace Ruben Patterson Jeff McInnis POR Trades: Rasheed Wallace Bonzi Wells Ruben Patterson Arvydas Sabonis (non-guaranteed contract) Jeff McInnis POR Gets: Shareef Abdur-Rahim Nick Van Exel Theo Ratliff Tariq Abdul-Wahad ATL Trades: Shareef Abdur-Rahim Theo Ratliff ATL Gets: Raef LaFrentz Bonzi Wells Arvydas Sabonis (non-guaranteed contract which can be dumped for capspace)
  3. I think if we sign some guys like Glover, DJ, and/or Stephen Jackson, along with resigning JT, we will be better than last year. With Big Dog gone, our team is better.
  4. I have no doubt that we will get him back. There is no way we are going to let him go. He is a Hawk. We WILL match.
  5. Get Dion, Jackson, and DJ I say. Atleast try to get all three of them. Dion and Jackson would be perfect. Adding DJ to that would be even better.
  6. Well, Big Dog and JT where in a rap video with eachother and are huge friends. I somewhat think it's because of JT.
  7. Good! Now McDavid can work his magic in a little bit. I think he is going to be a tight owner. We needed an owner who would care about our team, he is it.
  8. I see Reef having a much better year this year. The back injury was nagging him all last season. Don't be surprised if he averaged 22 and 9.5
  9. Diesel, I know you are still mad about this deal, but get over it. Theo is not going anywhere. What center could we get right now who could be better? I think we should focus on signing a Odom, Stephen Jackson, DerMarr, or Glover. Diesel, this trade will help us in the future.
  10. Yea, this year might not be so hot. Maybe it will. Looking at the future though, I am happy.
  11. I am some what 50/50 on this trade. We lose 20 points and 7 boards. We get the cap room in February of next year. At first I said I like this trade, but now I am 50/50. We get some space to sign a good free agent, that will be next year. If I were to trade Big Dog, I would try to trade him to the Pistons for Corliss Williamson. This would help our bench a ton. I see us going in the right direction, but we need to resign Glover and Johnson. We need some bench presents. McDavid WILL figure this all out. Reef got back surgery, so he should be better next year. Nazr is healthy. JT will keep growing. Right now we need some scoring off the bench. Resign DJ and Glover. Or go after Stephen Jackson. All in all I think this will pan out well. I have no doubt.
  12. I like it. Hey, Dog was cancer to this team, this frees cap space, and maybe Brandon will do well.
  13. In a game the Hawks had in hand until the closing minutes, the Hawks closed summer league with an 88-85 loss to the Reebok Pro Summer League champion San Antonio Spurs. Hansen Both teams struggled to get out of the gate for the 11 a.m. start, but the Spurs ended the first up three at 16-13. The Hawks played a solid offensive second quarter, outscoring San Antonio, 30-26, behind six points each from Travis Hansen, Tahj Holden, Damon Thornton and Charles Smith. Atlanta shot 57.1 percent in the period, and committed just two turnovers. The third quarter was a seesaw affair, with Tommy Adams heating up for Atlanta with a 13-point quarter (5-6 FGs, 3-3 3FGs). Atlanta went into the fourth quarter up four at 70-66. The Hawks held the led throughout the fourth, holding a seven-point advantage (85-78) with 3:34 to go in the game. But the Spurs mounted one last run, scoring the game's final 10 points, amidst numerous Hawks turnovers, to steal the win and finish summer league at a perfect 6-0. The Hawks did have one last shot to tie the game, but Hansen misfired on a three-point attempt as time expired. Charles Smith, who averaged a team-high 11.5 ppg during summer league, led the Hawks with 15 points in 20 minutes off the bench. Adams finished with 13, Hansen was next with 12 and Corey Benjamin put in 10 points in 11 minutes. Ernest Brown (22 points) paced San Antonio, followed by Nate Johnson (16), Damone Brown (14) and Kaspers Kambala (10). Atlanta finished summer league at 3-3.
  14. She's alright. I've seen many girls that look like her though.
  15. The Hawks summer league team topped the host team Celtics, 89-80, on Saturday at UMass-Boston, improving to 3-2 with just one contest left. The Hawks' bench was outstanding, notching 60 of the team's 89 points, led by Charles Smith's 16. Boston ran out to a 7-0 lead, and the Hawks didn't score until a Tahj Holden layup with 7:24 left in the first quarter. Atlanta slowly fought its way back, eventually taking a 21-19 lead at the end of one. The Hawks' Elton Tyler took two first quarter charges to help swing the momentum. The Celtics' Lenny Cooke, a former New York high school phenom, received a standing ovation upon entering the contest with 3:16 left in the first. Atlanta led throughout the second, extending the lead to seven by the half (41-34). Boris Diaw brought the crowd to its feet with a thundering reverse dunk at the 1:34 mark, then Tommy Adams stole the inbounds pass and dropped in a quick layup. However, the Hawks had reason to be concerned as shot blocking forward Jerry Holman entered the second half with four fouls. The Hawks kept the Celts at arm's length throughout the third, until late in the period when they scored the final six points to come within 57-53. But the fourth quarter belonged to Chris Porter (12 points) and Adams (10 points), who carried the Hawks' offensively in the period to the nine-point win. Cooke scored eight of his 10 in the fourth as well. "The bench saved us tonight," said Hawks assistant coach and summer league head coach Alex English. "The first team played well too, but the bench really came in and gave us a lift - Elton Tyler, Charles Smith, Chris Porter and Tommy Adams." Adams finished with 15, while Porter totalled 14 for the contest. Holman grabbed nine rebounds in his 20 foul-plagued minutes. Marcus Banks led the Celtics with a game-high 18 points, and Brandon Hunter followed with 16. Kornel David (12) also scored in double figures.
  16. Bron got a lot of help from the officials. All and all I think we did well against him. I mean, the Cavs have Miles, Boozer, Wagner, and LeBron starting in the summer league. These are 4 of their starters in the regular season. I think we did very well.
  17. We did not rebound well. Dickau is coming along. He will be solid.
  18. He is very confident. That impresses me. He will do well.
  19. Guys, this is going to work out. The max for the sale to go through is 2 weeks. That is the max! JT will be secured and remember Kastan said he will match any offer JT gets.
  20. Yea, I think Dickau is growing. I know he will be a solid player. I loved the way Diaw played today. He did the little things to help you win. He is going to be awesome. Hansen did well, and we had some sleepers. Adam and Thornton did very well.
  21. Kastan will match any offer JT gets. Keep that in mind.
  22. I personally have a very good feeling. I think this is all going to work out. I see McDavid doing very well here. It will turn out very well.
  23. In Chicago to visit with Bulls officials, free agent Ira Newble told reporters Wedesday he would like to stay with the Hawks, where he spent the past two seasons. But the uncertainty surrounding ownership and the front office has forced him to explore other options. "There's real chaos down there right now," Newble said in Chicago. "It's confusing." How confusing? When Newble walked into Bulls practice facility, guess who he bumped into in the hallway? Hawks coach Terry Stotts, in town to discuss an assistant coaching job with the Bulls. "I spoke to him three days ago and he didn't tell me he was coming," Newble said. "He doesn't know what his future is, so he has to do what he has to do and interview for jobs also." Stotts is under contract with the Hawks until Aug. 15, but he has a clause which allowed him to talk with teams after June 30. He was contacted by the New York Knicks for the assistant coaching job that was eventually taken by former Hawks head coach Lon Kruger. "These are very unusual times," Stotts said earlier this week. "It's going to be a tough decision for me, because I think [being head coach of the Hawks] is a good opportunity for me. But I don't want to go without a paycheck." After bouncing around for a few years, Newble would like to sign a three-year deal and have some stability. Known more for defense, he averaged 11.9 points in the Hawks' last 13 games. Outside of the holdups in David McDavid's bid to buy the team, the Hawks are limited in free-agent pursuits because they are in luxury-tax territory with more than $50 million tied up in the eight players under contract for next season. That figure doesn't include the guaranteed money slated for first-round pick Boris Diaw or the $2.93 qualifying offer tendered to restricted free agent Jason Terry. "I've spoken with Ira, and he said he'd still like to be in Atlanta," said Hawks director of basketball operations and interim general manager Billy Knight said Wednesday. "We certainly like him, and wouldn't be averse to bringing him him back, same thing with Dion [Glover]."
  24. That is exactly what I think, but Ira is pretty much a Bull now. Good luck to him. He was a good friend.
  25. Everybody right now is furious about the sale not going down at the end of June. I think different though. David McDavid is a professional and he knows how to handle this kind of situation. I know he is going to be a great improvement to this franchise. He WILL bring fans back to see the Hawks. He WILL correct our problems. He is the guy we have been waiting for, he is our savior. He knows what this franchise needs and he is excited about this team. He is studying Mark Cuban and Arthur Blank. That means he wants to make this a fun team. I think we got two gems in Diaw and Hansen, and I think they will help us a lot in the future. In fact, I think they can help us right away. I do not know what you guys think but McDavid is going to make all of these talented players we have fit together when he owns the team. GO HAWKS!!
