  1. Diesel do you live in Atlanta, or even the state of Georgia? In the middle of downtown Atlanta, what major attractions are there? Georgia Aquarium, Coca-Cola Factory, CNN, etc. Also amongst those major attractions is something you seem to be forgetting about. That would be Georgia Tech. They are firmly entrenched in that city and the amount of young(18-24)people (not the 27-35 year old men (not racially specific as you so ignorantly put it) are all over that place. What do you get when you put together a shiny new dating app and a demographic of young and probably not as successful in high school as the jocks together? You get a PRIME opportunity to draw in a LARGE and YOUNG crowd. some may currently be Hawks fans, some may be going as a first time. Regardless of all that, this is a marketing strategy that is reaching out to the younger crowd to draw more interest in the team for the long run. I'm sorry that you are old and miserable and cannot see the beauty that this is going to turn out to be. Go swap your depends out and go to bed old man.
  2. I think even if we took out the first, giving up Millsap and Korver for McBuckets and Gibson would be heavily in favor of the Bulls. Maybe they could send us Derrick Rose as well
  3. Never say never. They now have Pau Gasol in at Center, which means they will most likely be pushing Noah to PF to slide in for Boozer. It's a solid lineup but I think they would be happier with a guy of Millsap's caliber at the 4 than playing a 5 out of position at 4. Especially when you look at potential matchups of putting LeBron at the 4 who would easily take Noah. They would also gain Korver who would be the immediate starter at the 3, sliding Dunleavy to the 6th man role. That gives the Bulls the following look: Starting 5: PG Rose SG Butler SF Korver PF Millsap C Gasol Bench: G Hinrich G Snell G Fredette F Dunleavy F Gibson F Nikola Mirotic C Cameron Bairstow --- Outside of the bottom two, that's a very deep lineup with tons of shooting potential.
  4. As we all know, the longer players play together the easier it is for them be on the same page over an extended period of time. It's part of what makes the Spurs the Spurs. They've held the same group of guys together for years now and it's paid off in the long run. Duncan is the "superstar" of the team, but he casts the praise onto his teammates like a true consummate professional. With that being said, I think this trade gives us everything we need to REALLY make a push into the ECF and possibly further, although I don't know how easy it would be because I am not familiar with the cap situation or how it truly works in the NBA: Chicago Bulls send: F Doug McDermott C Joakim Noah Atlanta Hawks send: F Kyle Korver F Paul Millsap Future 1st Round draft pick --------------------- Why Chicago does this - They get Korver back who loved playing in Chicago, and they also get an All-Star forward in Millsap who can play along side Pau Gasol and take the place of Boozer. Why the Hawks do it - Continuity. We reunite Noah and Horford together to form a tandem that wrecked the NCAA. We also get who I believe to be a younger better version of Korver in Mcdermott. Fantastic shooter (as we have seen in the summer league) and I am sure with the proper coaching, would easily fit into Bud's system. ------------------- What do you think?
  5. 1. How did you come to the decision that you wanted to play for the Atlanta Hawks? 2. Do you think you could recruit some future players to play in the Hawks organization?
  6. This is just one of those times of the year where you sort of want your team to make a move to be better, but you are on the fringe of potentially being a lottery team so you don't know if making any moves to get "better" would benefit you in the long run. Rock meet hard place
  7. Well I am just making my self sound more and more uneducated when it comes to basketball and contracts, so i'll leave you guys alone to debate and I'll go back to lurking haha
  8. Good god! What about trading for them both, and then using the amnesty on Lin and letting him go while keeping Asik next year?
  9. Wait, I thought they were both expiring contracts this year?
  10. We should trade Teague to the Rockets. Obviously they want an upgrade at PG with the rumors surfacing of their pursuit of Rondo. Celtics are asking for Parsons back and Houston I would imagine is laughing hysterically at that. So package together Teague, Elton brand, and Lou Williams as well as our 2014 1st round pick and get Lin and Asik back in the trade. This allows Shredder and Mack to see the court more and gives us our true Center that everyone has been begging for.
  11. What in your delusional mind thinks that the Hawks could do anything with Asik this season? The Hawks weren't going to win the East even with a healthy Horford. Much less win one while trading away a handful of our healthy 10 players to acquire a guy like Asik. The sooner you get over yourself and wanting to "win now" the better off you will be. This team is not built to win now.
  12. So sign Oden or Bynum to an incentive laden contract so they could take up a roster spot to sit on the bench? No thanks. Robin Lopez has never been a free agent, so we would have to make a trade to acquire him, and Ferry is more concerned with the future than the now. Lopez would not have made us NBA Championship contenders. Plumlee would have been a good pick, but Schröder was much more of a need than Plumlee. Next list of Centers please.
  13. Time to revisit this next 10 with the injuries to Horford, Demarre, and John Jenkins
  14. Oh.. I thought we had theirs plus ours. Oh well. Either way, we hold the option for their draft for this year AND next, so we can become a great team in the next two years. I don't personally believe we need a "true" Center, as those are being phased out of the game. You are starting to see more and more 6'9-6'11 guys playing Center than you are seeing 7 footers. Teams want Centers who can run the court and not have to be subbed in and out every 5 minutes. Horford is a fantastic Center because he can draw his defender out of the paint due to his ability to hit a jumper. If Horford takes his man with him, it could easily lead to a drive to the basket with Teague or another guard. What we need for the future is a SF. Korver is great, but he needs to be a spark plug 6th man.
  15. Here's why I think your thread has failed. Ferry came in with no expectations of fielding a winning team immediately. We were cap strapped with Joe Johnson and still had Josh Smith on our hands. Ferry's actions were clear from the get go. Rid ourselves of the huge caps and set ourselves up for the future (3-4 years from his initial hiring). So he went out and drafted European guys who can sit over in Europe gaining valuable playing time and when the Hawks are ready, we can call them over. On top of that, we've rid ourselves of the horrible contract of JJ and signed a much more all around F in Paul Milsap in probably the steal of free agency. Nobody expected the Hawks to contend for a title. Every reasonable and understanding Hawks fan knew that from the get go. We now have an incredible amount of cap room, with some insanely great draft picks (if we lose out and the Nets continue to lose),we could POTENTIALLY wind up with two top 5 draft picks in this years class if the season goes South for the Hawks with Horford out. As long as the Nets continue their losing ways, the Hawks will become instantly better after the draft.
  16. How can you not be at least a little bit upset over what has transpired this off-season. We were supposed to go from pretenders to contenders. Now we head into next season no better, if not worse, than we were when we got knocked out by the Pacers last year. There are teams in the East who missed the playoffs last year that got much better in the off-season. Meanwhile we are stuck running in place and possibly tripping over ourselves.
  17. I'm just trying to figure out where all of our cap space went. We had so much heading into free agency and we really have next to nothing to show for it. We can't win a championship with that team. Anyone who thinks otherwise is simply fooling themselves. The only thing we've done with the starting 5 you've listed is cement ourselves as 1st round knockouts yet again. Which in turn has eliminated us from lottery contention.
  18. What about Al Horford at the 3? I know that sounds crazy, but he's extremely athletic and has a decent jumper. His length on defense could make it hard for the other SFs in the East to shoot from outside which would force them inside to deal with Bynum and Millsap?
  19. Dwight will take out a 1 hour time slot around 6 PM Eastern time to announce that he just can't make up his mind at the moment. He will talk about the benefits of playing on every interested team, and then will exit the podium crying because he really has no idea what he wants....
  20. Houston won't move Parsons, and the Hawks aren't taking on Lin's contract. So who else are they going to put in to the deal to do a S&T that involves Josh Smith and Asik?
  21. No, I really don't think Ferry makes that deal. Rondo would command top dollar, Smith has already said that he wants a max contract (he's not a max player) and Howard would have a max contract. I know that we are trying to build our own big 3, but we have Horford for at least 3 more years at a very reasonable price. He's not going anywhere.
  22. If Horford was in any danger of going somewhere, they would not be using him as a big piece of the pie to lure Dwight Howard to Atlanta. Look at the roster... They JUST extended a qualifying offer to Teague making him a restricted free agent. They didn't re-sign Josh Smith. Who exactly do you think DF is building this team around if it's not Horford?
