  1. The Hawks were going to keep getting bounced out of the playoffs with Joe Johnson "leading" the way. Now that the two horrible contracts are gone, it allows the Hawks to stay within the rules of the new CBA money wise, and pursue players in the future that will increase our chances of putting a championship caliber team on the court.
  2. I called this yesterday....you're welcome
  3. The thing that I don't get is, if we trade Al+Teague+1st round picks, what puts us in a position to win now? Howard is great on the boards, but with Howard down in the block Smith will think that he can play further outside of the lane. Which will lead to him taking more jump shots. On top of that, Harris is serviceable, but we would essentially be mailing in the season HOPING that Howard re-signs with us in the off-season. I think either way you look at it, this season is a wash.
  4. I think everything is quiet because we can't sign anyone until the 11th anyways. Why let it be known who we are after?
  5. Fixed that for you. 2K sports has lost their luster in sports gaming. Basketball will tank just like the rest of the franchise. Especially after a disappointing showing in 2K12.
  6. Kidney Stones (twice)slamming my two year old sons hand in the car door
  7. I sincerely hope LD is run out of town with the ASG not far behind him, but i'm not holding my breath.
  8. I don't even think a complete meltdown in game 5 will get LD out of town. I think ASG will come out and "fully support LD and his staff. The strike and the loss of Horford really hurt this team. LD will remain with the team for the foreseeable future."
  9. I'd give my left nut to see all the "positive comments" that are being dished out in the chat room right now.
  10. They don't even belong on a D-league court right now. This is freaking pathetic. "keep this positive"....There ain't a damn positive thing to say about these lazy not caring stupid idiots. When they showed the bench shot about 2 minutes ago, the entire Hawks bench looked like they were defeated. There wasn't a person on the bench that could care less about this game anymore. They've mailed it in. The fans need to retaliate and not show up to Phillips Arena on Tuesday. Send the ASG a message.
  11. WOW! a 31 point deficit? There's so many positive things to talk about with this game..
  12. oh glorious dolfan, I promise to worship the Atlanta Hawks even though they don't even belong on a D-league court right now. Please let me back in the chat!
  13. - One of those pants loosening dumps. You know, where you have to crap so bad and for so long, that when you go to pull your pants up when you are finished, they fit better- Getting deployed to Iraq, missing my sons first words, steps, birthday, etc.- getting a fingernail ripped off by a dog
  14. If you think the Magic are a good team, I have some beach front property in North Dakota I would like to sell you

    Caption This....

Josh Smith: I think I can, I think I can, I think I can RIch & Howard: Is he ACTUALLY going to make that? Duhon: Oh man, i'm gonna faint if he misses this wide open lay-up Teague: NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  16. Are you kidding me? We didn't blow them out by 20, we beat them by 5. Josh Smith's stat line is once again skewed to make people think he did great. He was still a very anemic 8-22 on shot attempts. We didn't beat the Magic, the Magic beat themselves by not knocking down their shots. Make no mistake about it, a win is a win, but to say we deserve some sort of notoriety for a sloppy win like that is laughable.

What a damn shame that is. This team has become complacent, and lazy. They think they are incapable of being moved because of who they are and what they THINK they represent on this team.

A Panic move? We have the same mold of Josh Smith in a hungrier Ivan. The only difference(s) between the two are blocking ability, and Ivan actually has a jump shot. Moving Josh Smith would be anything but a Panic move.

I just don't see it. We acquire Dwight Howard, and give up everything that was mentioned and we become a poor mans "big 3" with less bench than Miami, Boston, and the Knicks.

There's no way I do that. Then you are hoping that Josh Smith develops some resemblance of a jump shot because you've just shipped off 3 decent shooters in Williams, Hinrich, and Horford. On top of that, you completely deplete our bench, and then rely on Tracy McGrady and Jerry Stackhouse to lead the bench, and they would be better served competing in a 30 and up rec league at this point in their careers. I'm not willing to do all of that for a 20 game rental player. Howard will not bring us a title this year. There are far too many issues with this team to think that one man of Howards caliber can push this team to the finals. If memory serves me correctly, Al Horford and company did just fine disposing of the Magic in last years playoffs.

I love how everyone thinks we should trade Al Horford. It's the most asinine thing I've read. Horford IS the team leader for the Hawks. He is our court general so to speak. I don't care WHO we would bring in, NOBODY could do what Horford does for the Hawks. With Horford last night, we could have gone to the post game more, and maybe Josh Smith wouldn't get the urge to shoot the damn ball 11 times. You give us 6 of those 11 shots and that's a 12 point swing in our favor. Josh Smith killed us last night, and if ANYONE gets put on the trade block, his name needs to be first.

    It's Time

What's up everyone. I just wanted to take time after sleeping on it to express my concerns with the players and staff of this team after last night's game.... I actually went last night with a buddy of mine who is a 76ers fan, and for the most part it was pretty fun. There was a marriage proposal on the kiss cam, the high flyers came in around mid 4th qtr, and a couple of average joes got a chance to win some money from SunTrust bank. As for the on court product, to say I was dissapointed would be an understatement... I don't know HOW we stick with Josh Smith, and how the staff or even the players don't come out and tell him to STOP TAKING JUMP SHOTS! He was 0-8 until he made a freaking layup midway through the 3rd. Hell, if i'm not mistaken, he missed like his first two free throws as well. The sad part is, I would say 90% of his jump shots he was WIDE OPEN on and he missed them with relative ease. Yet, when there was a stoppage in play, he would take a jump shot and make it. I even saw him drain a one handed shot from just inside the 3 PT line during halftime warm ups. The only reason why I believe he is still on this team is because of his blocking ability. Other than his blocking ability, there were countless times where he would take a jump shot, miss it, or drive the lane and miss and instead of getting back on defense he would cry to the refs leaving the team at a 5 on 4 disadvantage. I think the Hawks should do what they can to move on from Josh Smith and try and get a lottery pick for him at the All-Star Game. Forget the Dwight Howard dreams, forget getting our own "big 3", and just focus on getting guys that can shoot the J, since that seems to be what we want to do. We RARELY posted up down low and took it to the hoop. The 76ers are not a big team, and we should have at least made more of an attempt to get down in the paint. Ivan, Ivan, Ivan...I swear if he is not starting within the next 2 games, Larry Drew needs to take a hike (not that I don't think he needs to take a hike anyways)... Last night just pushed the envelope further with this young man. Every time Ivan would energize this team with his outstanding play, Larry Drew would sub him out for Zaza who played so incredibly soft last night. Why can't we have the Zaza from the Boston playoff series every game? But I digress... Ivan has done MORE than enough to earn more playing time. To see Drew basically pull Ivan out mid 1st qtr and not put him in until about 56 seconds left was just flat out embarassing. Ivan could EASILY supplant Josh Smith as our 4. He has a jumper, he gets down and dirty in the paint, and he grabs boards like crazy. The only thing he needs to work on is his shot blocking ability. However, given the offensive philosophy of this team, I would take Ivans jumpshot and lack of blocking, over Josh Smith's horrid jump shot and cry baby attitude any day. I would make my comments about Joe Johnson, but Joe Johnson seems to be the Matt Ryan of the Atlanta Hawks. He's the "saving grace" of this team, and anyone who criticizes him clearly "doesn't watch games close enough." He shows flashes of Brilliance at times, but regardless of that fact, he is not deserving of his current contract. He's not Lebron, Wade, Melo, Amare, or any other superstar. He's good, not great. I would say more, but I don't want to get flamed. I think it's time to blow this team up. We've hit our ceiling with this group of guys. Keep Teague and Horford, and let's shake this roster up. Sure we could do worse, but we've essentially been running with the same squad now for how long? The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result. We are teetering on insanity right now. Thanks for letting me rant, and if you made it through all of this congratulations lol... I think i'm done ranting. Flame away
  23. I just want that ridiculous contract removed, or restructured. It is insane that we are paying a role player that kind of money, and he isn't even CLOSE to playing at the level that the REAL superstars are at.
