  1. I still think we honestly have the best shot. Howard said he wanted 3 superstars in Houston.. Harden, Himself, and who else? They don't exactly have the cap space to bring in that 3rd player, at least not to my knowledge. They would have to move some contracts in a sign and trade, and I can't see the Hawks taking Lin back in a S&T deal for Josh Smith.
  2. We should be less than 24 hours away from Dwight coming to Atlanta :-)
  3. That one trick pony sure did that one trick very well in the clutch in more than a few games last year. The reason we hate Josh Smith is because we all recognize that he could be a SUPERSTAR if he just played to his strengths. He IS a low post high energy guy. However, he thinks he has this amazing jumpshot and defensively takes himself out of so many plays because he wants to defend on the wing. Josh Smith realistically should be playing the 4 instead of the 3. I would rather see Horford playing the 3 than Smith. Korver knows his role, and doesn't try to play outside of that role. That is why we are happy with this signing.
  4. Howard has stated that he wants the Rockets to go out and get another superstar but they won't be able to sign another superstar because they had to unload multiple veterans via trade or out right releases just to clear the space to sign Howard. If Howard goes to Houston, he won't have a snowball's chance in **** of winning a championship. The Rockets released Aaron Brooks, Carlos Delfino, and have traded Thomas Robinson. Again, this was necessary to JUST sign Howard to a max contract. They won't have any room to sign another superstar..Atlanta on the other hand WILL have the money to sign another superstar to go with Howard and Horford. I don't know who that superstar would be, but if it's Josh Smith, then I would like to see Howard not in a Hawks uniform. I don't want Josh Smith in a Hawks uniform unless he changes his game up. With Howard at 5, Horford at 4, and Smith at 3, we would be looking at one of, if not the best defensive team in the league. They would also be one of the best rebounding teams IF Josh Smith plays to his strengths and stays down low. We would need some VERY good shooters though at the Guards. Horford has a good mid range jumper, but Smith misses way more than he makes. It could make for a very interesting season if Howard signs with the Hawks.
  5. Somebody convince me that we are actually not attempting to absolutely tank the upcoming season... I have no clue why we would be drafting guys who will most likely not see the NBA this year aside from not having committed money on the payroll
  6. Even if the article is not true, he still has too many diva qualities about him to risk signing him to a max contract. I don't think he and Dwight would be a great fit. Too much pouting and crying on one team.
  7. Well everyone scrap all ideas about CP3, and Dwight in Atlanta... CP3 wants to play for a black coach: http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/basketball/lawrence-brooklyn-patience-couuld-net-red-hot-hollins-article-1.1341359#ixzz2TyCLa3sC
  8. If Josh Smith is in a Hawks uniform, I won't even bother to watch next season regardless of who we get.
  9. We would have to trade up to grab KCP. I think if Dallas decides to move on from OJ and not pursue him, they take KCP. Lou played exceptionally well for us before his injury.
  10. I don't know how I feel about this. On one hand, I love the draft picks. On the other hand, the free agent signings (outside of CP3 and Dwight) worries me. Brand is basically a dinosaur trying to just find a place to stick on a roster. He has a good post presence, but with the athleticism on this team, I don't think he could run with us and remain healthy doing so. Barnes has solid defense, but if he ever gets passed up as the starter, we have an extremely limited amount of scorers to pair with him. I guess the more I look at it, the more comfortable I become with it. I would just have my doubts about depth in the front court.
  11. The thing that bugs me about Teague is his unwillingness to shoot the ball when he has an open shot. He's a point guard. He should embrace the shooting opportunities and take them. I'd MUCH rather see Teague take the shot than Josh Smith. It always seems like Teague is looking to pass first, and then shoot. Like everyone else has said, he needs to become more aggressive. We saw how aggressive he could get in the 7 game series against Boston. We need THAT Teague to show up. He also could use some practice on defense. He has flashes of great defense, but then he will just get so involved in trapping a guy that he leaves his man wide open on the wing for an easy 3.
  12. If we re-sign Smith, we need to get a coach in here who has absolutely no problem benching Josh when he steps out past 20 ft from the rim. I'm so sick of Josh Smith and his horrible shooting. It's completely unbearable to watch him sit there and act like he is the go to shooter on the team, and just jack up shot attempt after shot attempt only to see each one miss. He needs to understand that he is most valuable to a team where he is down low playing on the boards. And for god sakes, if he fouls someone and cries about it to the point where he gets another freaking Technical foul I will lose my mind lol.
  13. Wake me up when the off-season is here
  14. Well, looks like Josh is staying unless something happened under the wire, which I doubt. Morrow also looks to be staying put. I was really hoping we wound up making SOME type of move.
  15. kevinarnovitz Kevin Arnovitz RT @JasonKirkSBN Sources: Milwaukee/Atlanta trade sticking point likely to be ~100 of Hank Aaron's home runs ---------------- HAHAHAHA
  16. Chris_Broussard Chris Broussard Portland asking for a 1st round pick for JJ Hickson and finding no takers so far. ---------------------- Would you do it?
  17. @ZachKleinWSBJosh Smith is at #Hawks facility for practice that starts at 11am
  18. You poor guy. We traded Joe because he was getting batman money but playing like Robin. Joe Johnson and his ISO play was NEVER going to get us anywhere close to the finals. That's why he is gone. We are looking into trading Josh because Josh has expressed his desire to be re-signed to a max contract. Again, he is not a max player. He can think that all he wants, but at the end of the day, this is a business and a business decision needs to be made. Let someone else pony up a max deal for him so he can quit on them even more. We are clearing cap space becuase outside of the Lebron, Bosh, Wade free agent class, this one is going to STOCKED with talent. We could easily gain a big three in the off-season with all the cap space clearing. IF Howard were to come here in the off-season, and we could lure Chris Paul, we would have Howard, Horford, and Paul. That would be an extremely talented big 3. All of these moves were set up for this up coming off-season. Just wait and see.

    LET'S GO HEAT!

A fan of an Atlanta team (Falcons) tried that already...wound up getting stabbed lol
  20. At this point, I'd be happy with a young Center, and a lottery pick. I just want SOMETHING from a Josh Smith trade and not letting him walk for free in the off-season.

    FEAR THE DEAR!

a little over 5 hours till the deadline. Still really quiet. Maybe we won't be moving Smith after all
  22. So with the trade deadline looming large it's become pretty obvious that Josh Smith has about a week left in a Hawks uniform. I've seen threads where some want him gone, and others want him to stay. I personally want to see what we get in return for him. The past couple of years, he has tried to mold himself into something he just isn't; a shooter. For every shot he knocks down, he misses about 5-6 others. Everyone of us knows that he is a better teammate when he is down low in the paint playing the boards. However, it's almost as if he refuses to do it. We have plenty of shooters on this team, yet he still wants to sit at the three point line and jack up ridiculous attempts hoping that they fall... anyways.. How do you think you will react on a trade involving Smith? - I think regardless of the return (I have faith that Danny will get good value out of a trade so i'm not banking on being dissapointed), I will be happy. Josh wants a max deal and he's not even a max player. He sort of fits the same identity of Joe Johnson in my eyes. We gave Joe Johnson a max deal and for all intents and purposes, we should have just let him walk because he was NEVER on the same playing field as Lebron or Wade or any other player who got a max contract that year. How do you think Josh Smith will react to the trade? - I think this is where all of the "we made a mistake trading him" posters will come around. I think the first chance Smith gets, he will trash the organization. He will make it sound like we are the worst team to play for in the history of the NBA, and that we will never win a championship. To me, he will come off bitter and very "me first" in any interview from here on out. How will the players on the Hawks react to a Josh Smith trade? - I think a few of the guys who have been here with Josh from the beginning (Horf, Zaza) will say how much they will miss him, and it's understandable. Then you will get guys like Korver or Morrow (guys that have been traded before), and they will throw the "At the end of the day, it's a business" line out there. ------------------- I think overall, everyone will be happy to see us moving on from Josh Smith, as long as it doesn't include any other crazy pieces added to a trade. If I see Horford traded, I am going to lose my shit.
  23. Bynum hasn't even played a game for the 76ers, and most likely will never suit up for them this year. I don't know how serious the knee injury is, but it's obvious the guy either A.) has a more serious knee injury than he led everyone to believe or B.) He's lazy and isn't rehabbing like he should be to get back on the court. Either way, it's a no from me.
