Yeah these guys quit on this game.

This is unacceptable.
If Capela is winded due to COVID he needs to sit the rest of the game. He ain't helping the team right now on both ends.

It seems kinda obvious that there should be a cap to the # of 10-day contracts a team can give out. If those have been exhausted and you still can't get to 8 healthy players, then you postpone the game.
Expecting teams to endlessly sign minor leaguers has been a terrible idea.
Best solution I've seen yet.

And yeah I'm sure these weak-a** teams had "excuses".
"Bwah, sorry Adam but we couldn't sign Lumidee in time to get here before tipoff, blah, blah, blah .."
But they know it's some bullcrap-eth!
Meanwhile, we got double-digit dudes just happy to be out there. Out there runnin' 6 different plays during the same set. Guarding dudes that're on the bench. That boy Nate Mc out there like ....
Yes, Nate. It literally is amateur hour!
I see no evidence to the contrary, at this point.
They musta promised that mfer they'd grow his hair back if he just made sure we end up in the play-in at best.

Only silver lining I see in this is that we get to see Cam get more reps as the second option.

But we have to sign 3 guys to 10 day deals within 2 hours of a game.

This makes no sense at all unless those other guys are really sick.

Yes, there were a few guys out to start the year, but it was a few bench players. OO is kind of an ok bench player at this point. Cam is sorta like a Gerald Green at this point.
It looks like Bogi/Hunter/Cam are three players that are just going to have health issues. So you can only use them being hurt so much.
You say "if we have a fully healthy team " but the only problem is that these three players have not proven that they can stay healthy the same time... So you have to take that into account when judging the team.
There are flaws that are apparent despite the injury issues...
-This team does not have a legit 2nd option scorer.
-Cam, Hunter and Bogi seem to be injury prone.
-A lack of a legit backup PG.
-A lack of shot creators outside of Trae.
-A lack of toughness.
-Poor defensive effort.
-The team struggles when the other teams have impact players upfront.
Do I think this is a terrible team if 100% healthy? No, but its kind of hard to see them as a big threat.
Lacking a quality backup PG, reliable 4th period players and a lack of players with the ability to impose their will on others is a problem.
This team can't execute when Trae is out of the game, and the best scoring reserve the team has is starting to show his age.
Repeatedly, teams are going to target Trae in crucial parts of the game because teams fear nobody else on this team. Including John... Who is consistent, but he just isnt going to kick it up a notch all that often.
Kevin and Bogi should both be 17 PPG players, but they simply aren't going to give that type of effort on a nightly basis. I don't know why Kevin settles for being a 10 PPG type of player, but he does.
Perhaps they squeak into the playoffs and take it up a notch, but I haven't seen any evidence as of yet that they will do that.
Something else.... This team has shown little ability to control the tempo this year. They dont force other teams to play their game.
That is a major problem.
Good analysis.

I'll give the Bulls credit, they're legit. DeRozan, LaVine, and Vucevic is such a tough Big 3 to contend with in the East.

They're making every three their taking too, contested! That's a wrap folks.

DeRozan is a damn monster from midrange.

LaVine always kills us. Such a tough shot maker. Man.

That was the most beautiful move I've seen Cam pull off. Wow.

Easily the most patient game Cam has played so far. Only one shot that was borderline rushed. The rest were in rhythm, or going to the rim.
He's been watching Tracy McGrady and Paul George highlights on repeat.

I don't know about y'all but I kinda like Chaundee Brown. He's already our best rebounding wing.

Trae, Mays, Bogi, Cam, Capela?
Put Mays on the bench to run the second unit. We may need to start Lance to be a small ball 4.

Roster for tomorrow's game if no one else tests positive or none gets out.
Starters: Wright, Bogi, Cam, Brown?, Capela
Mays, Stephenson, Hill, Barber and Ellison, Dieng
We may need to sign Skal Labissiere to a 10 day. I know Schlenk was really intrigued by him when we traded for him 2 seasons ago, and he was injured at the time and never got to play with us.

It probably could work. Okongwu can play with just about everyone
Not Capela though. The spacing would be terrible.

The NBA really needs to step in. We can’t even field a competitive team at the moment.

This is the kind of deal I'm talking about that would require us giving an asset to Orlando.
I’m only attaching a second rounder to this deal. I honestly think it’s a fair deal for both sides since Gallo is the better player.

Jalen Johnson and John Collins have entered protocols.

I would trade Gallo to Orlando for Garry Harris. Harris is a defensive wing who is in the last year of his deal, making $20.4 million. This will also open up more minutes for 'Gwu and JJ (if guys really think JJ should start getting minutes now).
I'd also waive TLC and sign a guy like Patrick Patterson or Harry Giles as depth at the PF spot.
Just some quick moves that I could think of so we can get out of Gallo's deal next year.
Patrick Patterson fills a great role; spacing the floor. He shot ~35% from 3 last year which is league average.
One of his best games last season:

Luxury Tax for 2022-23 season: $145 million (rounded)
Hawks Guaranteed salary for 2022-22 (including full Gallo): $151 million
Hawks Salary (waived Gallo): $135 million which leaves us with ~$10 million under the Luxury Tax threshold.
Options:
1. Find a team with capspace to dump his salary and pay a 1st in the process.
2. Find a team that can use his services, most likely a vet team but chances are they'll need to send us back salary, so it depends on the player coming back to us and the salary if greater that the $5mil Gallo guarantee. So can we get a useful player?.
3. Gallo plus young player and/or pick(s) for a clear UPGRADE.
4. Find a team looking for Luxury Tax relief that can use Gallo's $5 mil guarantee to get under the tax, but again we'll either be taking back salary or finding a 3rd team and paying for it.
5. Keep Gallo and trade him later since we'll be a Luxury Tax player anyway. We'd be trading for hopefully a useful player with not as high a salary but on a longer deal. (I don't know who that player is right now). The team would be looking to use Gallo as an expiring contract for 2023.

I'd like to see some of these guys get opportunities with us next year in Summer League too.
