That's about 15 games of our next 42 he'll miss. Doesn't leave us much wiggle room in the next 27 games to make up those games.

I guess I'm just tired of injuries.

I understand. But Bogi has really been hurting us on the defensive end lately that it kind of negates what he's bringing us offensively. We need some defenders with respectable jumpers to put next to Trae.

I guess this is the Knox thread? (For now)

Kevin Knox’s father: ‘Puzzling’ why Tom Thibodeau didn’t give son more minutes

Knicks trade for Cam Reddish in deal that sends Kevin Knox to Hawks

UP NEXTKnicks coach Tom Thibodeau never took a liking to forward Kevin Knox and his stint with the team since being a 2018 lottery pick came to a merciful end Thursday with his trade to the Hawks.

Kevin Knox Sr., Knox’s father who played wide receiver for Florida State and the NFL’s Bills, said some members of the franchise had raised eyebrows over why Knox never got a chance with Thibodeau.

Indeed, Knicks general manager Scott Perry was behind drafting Knox at No. 9 in 2018, when the team president was Steve Mills. Current president Leon Rose probably didn’t have the investment in Knox’s success. According to a source, some club personnel thought Knox should play. “It can be [a factor] but at the end of the day, it’s not the president who calls the plays,” he said. “It’s not the president who makes the substitutions. The president hires a coach. This coach here obviously felt he can win games without Kevin Knox. To be able to go to another team, you can’t help be excited because you can have the opportunity to have a chance to play meaningful minutes.”

Knox, who hasn’t talked to the media since preseason, is said to be thrilled at the trade, which will bring him closer to his hometown of Tampa, Fla.

“There’s not many miles on the Rolls Royce,” Knox Sr. said.

In the trade, the Knicks received Cam Reddish, who asked out of Atlanta to get more playing time, but has landed in a similar logjam.

“Kevin’s excited,” Knox Sr. said. “He sees opportunity there, a more fast-paced offense to play with a point guard in Trae Young who is an All-Star. He gets in the lane and kicks out to people for open shots. Kevin’s really excited to be coached by Coach Nate [McMillan], a proven coach who played in the league.

Idk, I hope he turns out to be something, but I won't get my hopes up.

  3. I'll go:

    Why Memphis does this:

It's become clear this season that Desmond Bane is the ideal running mate to put next to Ja Morant for now and into the future. The Grizzlies have been on an incredible run this season, mostly without the presence of Dillon Brooks. Bogdan Bogdanovic provides them with an elite shooter with at least 2 more years on his deal that they can add to their team. They will also get a first round pick that they can use to continue adding young talent to their young core, or use as a trade chip in future deals. Also trading Culver frees up more minutes for their young wings like Ziaire Williams, DeAnthony Melton, and John Konchar, etc.

    Why Atlanta does this:

Simply put, the Hawks need someone with a competitive fire that wants to compete on both ends of the floor. Dillon Brooks is that guy. Right now, Dillon is out with an ankle sprain, so we may not feel his impact immediately, but when he is healthy, he's a guy who's known as a disruptor and an irritant on defense, someone that can bring toughness into a locker room, and has also been known to be a really good teammate. Jarrett Culver is added to this deal in order to make the salaries work. You can now trot out a starting lineup when healthy of Trae, Brooks, Hunter, Collins, and Capela.

What are some deals you would make?

I agree that Bogi and Gallo won't be enough but who are the stars that are AVAILABLE.

Lillard is there 1st choice but Portland doesn't want to move him and he had surgery - after  that who. Read they want to move off Harris in the Ben trade to clear space to make a run at Harden in the offseason.

They know this, and they ultimately believe that they can convince Ben to come back because of this. They'll wait until draft night for more targets to become available if he doesn't.

Again, what "star" is available?  I'll wait.  And, no, Fox is not a star.

That's exactly my point. If Philly isn't going to take back Fox, what makes us believe we can get Simmons for something less than that? We need to move on to another target. It's not worth the asking price from Philly.

Atlanta gets to take a free look at Knox before he hits the market. Also, by trading Hill, the Hawks open up a roster spot, giving them options heading into the trade deadline and buyout season.

Buyout season being the key. There will be some talent as teams trade and buyout players. Atlanta could find a gem. That roster spot is not worthless.

If we don’t turn this season around, I highly doubt we’d be the first choice of anyone on the buyout market.

I think we all know that's their stance but the reality is there aren't any 'stars' available to them.  So Morey can hope in one hand and shart in the other.  We all know which one's gonna get filled up first.

At the end of the day, the Hawks likely can offer him a better deal than many teams ... once it's accepted that James Harden ain't walkin' through that door.  And even if Lillard becomes available, that means POR is rebuilding and likely wants picks/youngs rather than just replacing Lillard with a win-now guy.

Long story long, you're right that the expectations should be tamped down.  But there is something here, imeo.

If Simmons could be moved for role players, it would’ve already happened by now. And Morey is willing to let this extend until Draft Night according to Woj.

Dre might also be requesting a trade if TLC continues to start over him in a contract year like he did over Reddish for no apparent reason.

I expect Dre to get his starting role back. They may have brought him off the bench because a minutes restriction or for him to get into a rhythm better.

They shouldn't. That part is true. That doesn't mean they won't.

I'm going to be real with you, any GM who would make that trade is a dumbass. You're going to be locking up ~$102 million per season into 3 players leaving you with a little avenue to improve the roster around them. Harris isn't that guy to justify doing that.
