  1. I think you have to wait and see what happens on the legal side of things first before you even think of taking a chance on him. I live in Denver now and I went to 7 Nuggets games this past year and only saw him actually play some garbage time once. For a guy who was a fan favorite here only a few years ago to not ever getting off the pine, something has to be happening there, whether it's metal or just a diminishing of skills. On another note, a friend of mine is good friends with Devin Harris and recently met up with Devin for bite to eat. He said Devin was talking about how excited he is to be a Hawk and how nice it is to be out of Utah! Good to hear. GO HAWKS!!
  2. And a credit to the refs. Easily the most lopsided officiated series I've ever seen. I stopped watching the Finals after game 3 and I don't think I've missed a Finals since 89. Can't even bring myself to even watch the highlights from game 5.
  3. Who cares!!! I hope the Heat go 0-82 this year. I've never completely despised a team and a city so much.
  4. I wouldn't mind bringing McGrady back. He did a lot of good things for us last year in limited time. Of course he complained about his playing time, NBA players are prima donna's, they all think they should be "the man" on their team. But he never tried to do too much and played within the team. He's not his old self, but we would see glimpses from time to time.
  5. I recognized this guys name right away from the World Championships in 06. He gave the U.S. a lot of fits when we played and lost to Greece. This guy is an absolute tank. Would probably be one of the stongest guys in the NBA right off that bat. I wonder if this means the Hawks don't think they'll re-sign Ivan, and now they're looking for more muscle down low. I'd like to keep Ivan, he's a good energy/muscle guy. I think every good team needs an enforcer, someone who won't back down and isnt affraid to get in the other teams face and stick up for their teammates. Even if it's to bully the opposing teams players, kind of like Dennis Rodman or Anthony Mason, guys who are a little F'd in the head. Zaza does this a little bit.
  6. I would have liked to sign Anthony Randolph, but Denver snagged him. I think Blatche is worth taking a look at. Doesn't mean we have to sign him, at least entertain the option. He may be a cancer, but people said the same thing about Jamal Crawford. And one of the biggest cancer's in the league right now is one that everyone wants....D12.
  7. Thanks for the responses. Everyone has some very good points. The point I'm trying to make though is if Atl had more nationaly televised games, I'm sure their fan base would be larger. I'm tired of seeing the same 4 - 6 teams constantly. If Atl wants a bigger fan base they have to take advantage of the 2 resources that NO other team has. One doesn't even recognize their existance (TBS) and the other only shows them when they're playing one of the bandwagon, trendy teams (TNT). No wonder some of these teams have such a huge following, they're being forcefed to anyone wanting to watch NBA basketball. If your a new NBA fan and you want to follow the game, your choices are MIA, BOS, LAL, SAN, OKC, CHI, NY. Outside of those teams, the rest of the NBA almost doesn't exist. Yes, sometimes ATL does get their aces handed to them when they finally do get a televised game, but for the most part they are a young, athletic, fun team to watch.
  8. Last year when Josh failed to make the All Star team he was upset b/c he thought he didn't make it due to lack of the organization promoting him as an All Star caliber player. As a longtime fan, I'd have to agree with him. Atl players hardly ever recieve any recognition and I think the organization could do a lot more. I'm from a little town in ND and I grew up a diehard Hawks fan since 88. Without Atlanta Hawks Basketball on TBS, that would have never been possible. There were only 2 teams that had tv stations in their own city that would schedule and play nationally televised games, the Hawks and Bulls. WGN still shows Bulls basketball games to this day. On TBS I was able to see 20+ games a year. I think the Hawks were a more popular team and the players recieved more recognition b/c of the national exposure. ATL is the only NBA team that has two nationally televised tv stations (TBS and TNT) located in their own city, yet knowbody knows much about the Hawks and nobody cares b/c the Hawks are very rarely on national TV. I know Ted Turner no longer owns the Hawks but you would think that a deal could be worked out to where the Hawks could still get a least a little bit of love from TBS. TBS still shows Braves Baseball as far as I know. TNT show's a few games, but when they do show them, it's always against CHI, BOS, MIA. They aren't really showing those games b/c of ATL. This has been a very exciting off season so far for Hawks basketball. If you go to a number of other team's sites, there are all kinds of stories and pictures/videos of press conferences showing that teams new aquisitions. If you were to go to Hawks.com, there is just your typical news story, no pics, no videos. Go to the Nets homepage, even the Jazz homepage. Both JJ and Marvin are getting all kinds of love on those team pages. My question is this, do you think that the organization does a good job of promoting not only the team, but the players as individuals on a national level? NBA players are the biggest prima donna's in professional sports. They want their money and they want their exposure. If they don't get it they get upset and want to be traded or leave via free agency. This is a concern b/c it affects attracting free agents and keeping your star players who are approaching free agency. I'd love to see TBS show at least 10 games a year and I'd love to see Hawks.com actually show a news conference for Williams and Harris and the other new players. It's always exciting to hear what the new players have to say and see them with their new jersey's. For the record, Hawksquawk by far has the best news coverage for ATL Hawks basktball. This site is soooo far ahead of Hawks.com it's ridiculous.
