    And that’s bad news.

We are at the stage where we could really use a guy like Jae Crowder, a motivated Jae Crowder, a pissed off Jae Crowder in a contract year, honestly if it costs us JHol and JJ, I’ll pay it for a rental.

Reggie Miller even said it on the telecast of the Suns game last night, Jae Crowder is an ENFORCER. We need one.

Dejounte, Hunter, Cap and OO can all defend. None are THAT guy. The closest is Trae but his role isn’t to dirty up the other team physically, Jae’s role however, is just that and to get under the skin of the opponents.

11th year in the league for Jae and he’s been professional for most of not all and he shows up to play and play extremely hard.

    The Hawks need that.

    Colonel 🫡 GET JAE NOW!!!!

    Leggooooo!

You're right that we could use Jae Crowder but I'm not trading JJ for a goon with a mediocre offensive game. Much less one who is looking to get paid in the offseason. I don't think we'll do it because of the luxury tax implications anyways, but JJ is too talented to trade for Crowder, even if he may be the more impactful player.

His first year in the playoffs, he took his team further than CP3 had done in 13 years.

He has led the league in scoring and assists (totals)....

The funny thing about the guys I named for the poll, none of them have done that.

For his career, he has averaged:   25.3 points, 9.1 assists and 3.9 rebounds

    Let's consider that...

    Curry:  24.3 ppg, 6.5 apg, 4.6 rpg.

Kidd:  12.6, 8.7, and 6.3  (even if you took Kidd's best years, he never averaged over 20 ppg).

    Headlines:

Trae Young, “joins Oscar Robertson as the only other player in NBA postseason history with 500 points and 150 assists in fewer than 20 playoff games.”

There's no question in my mind that Trae is one of the best players in the NBA right now. But to have his name next to all-time greats you have to win championships. That's the barometer for me whether it's fair or unfair. There have been other talented players in NBA history that don't get put in these conversations because we're not watching a 1-on-1 competition. I believe the Hawks will win multiple championships with Trae, but only time will tell.

  3. Trae will be an all-time great if he can perform come playoff time. He is already putting up the regular season stats, he just needs rings to give him legitimacy amongst the league's best players. It'll take time though, as great as he already is he's still growing.

You'd think Jay and I were on a debate stage running for Congress.... dang, my friend, why is it so hard to answer the actual question?

I promise, there's no trap door beneath your internet that will swallow you up for the wrong answer, whatever that is. Or, I'm pretty sure. But now as I think about it, I also have exhausted my interest in your transparent and truthful answer anyway.

Anyone else? Did you think Fields was actually himself persuaded that they should have BogBog back 100% to start the season, or do you think he was just saying that for whatever reason?

Jay answered you directy, she didn't think Fields was lying. As much as GMs might lie, in this instance I think Fields was just wrong. With timetables on injuries, you can be optimistic but the reality is you never know how soon a player can return when it's early in the recovery process.

    Intriguing. Why, though?

Gay's been steady. JDay's been declining.

Gay's a physical fit at what this front office apparently considers the prototype for the 3rd PF... ie, someone who can be your legit small ball PF.

Think we've got more than enough JDays on the team as it is. He's expendable. And there's a void that needs filled.

I'll give Gay some credit that he has some phyiscality that has allowed him to be used even as a center in some lineups, but I don't think it's really been to his team's benefit. He's fine defensively, but I don't think he's efficient enough on offense to justify the usage he has at the position he occupies. Holiday is coming off a down season and has never been particularly efficient either, but he also doesn't take as many shots. If I'm choosing between the two, I'd rather have Holiday who might be a weaker offensive player, but isn't going to take shots away from better players on the court.

I know luxury tax is an issue, but someone like Millsap for the min would basically serve the same purpose Gay would for us. Gay is probably the better player, but Millsap is experienced and familiar with the organization. Hopefully our young guys step up though and relegate whichever vet we have to a permanent seat on the bench.

  6. While freeing up some extra money for an additional signing is valuable, I don't think a Justin Holiday for Rudy Gay swap would be adavntageous for us. Holiday isn't amazing by any means, but I do think he fits his role off the bench better than Gay would if we ever needed him to play real minutes for us. If the move is to free up minutes for our young guys then I'd be all for that but it means we're relying on mostly unproven guys to occupy important roles off the bench. I'd rather see Kaminsky moved for a more reliable big, but maybe he'll prove me wrong and not look completely useless.

  7. 60-22. If we can stay healthy, teams are gonna have a hard time keeping up with us. I think JJ once he gets going will be a difference maker off the bench, and we should have consistent offensive play now every possesion with 48 minutes of Trae + Dejounte. If Dre takes that next step, we should be one of the best teams in the league. The only question mark for me is our shooting off the bench. Losing Gallinari hurts us in that department, and we haven't really replaced that amongst our bigs. Maybe a vet addition at some point can give us some cover.
