  1. Who on this team is bought in? How many good games of Hawks basketball have you watched this season? This team fully healthy is barely .500 which as far as I'm concerned is a major underperformance. Our problems are bigger than Murray and shipping him out just to do it fixes nothing. We're not losing games just because of Murray. There's a real lack of leadership within the organization, not just the players. This team is just going through the motions, and it's clear than Quin's system is doing nothing to enhance most of the talent on the team. My point isn't to blame coaching or the players, but rather the front office that isn't doing their job. They are not managing the team and its clear now that since Shlenk's removal we have no plan, no direction. Further mismanagement of the roster will continue to lead to us losing games until the day Trae asks out, because he'll reach the same conclusion other players have: that they're better off somewhere else. It's not about pacifying Dejounte or Cam or anyone else because I think they're our savior. It's about making necessary concessions, or personnel changes that actually move the team forward in a positive direction. We can have our disagreements about what the Hawks should do, but it should be clear that what they have actually done in reality is set us back more and more. Selling low on Dejounte doesn't fix anything.
  2. We do not have to make a trade if we're not getting any good offers. Somebody in the front office should've been able to mediate this situation, otherwise they're not doing their job. If Murray is unhappy with the way he's being utilitized, things should've never devolved to the point where now he wants out, after just signing an extension this past summer. I felt the same way when we traded Cam. Even though Cam may not have been as good as he thought he was, at that time he should've never came to the conclusion that a trade request was his best option. That signals to me that whatever his concerns were, they were neglected to the point where he decides he's done. I'm not saying we should do everything a player suggests, but clearly we've failed to keep players bought into the long term goal of a Hawks' championship. If we trade Murray we might as well get ready to trade Trae next because what will we be left with? At some point the front office needs to actually do their job and manage and develop the talent we do have. Not pray that the skills training these guys do on their own time translates into on-court success.
  3. We will officially have the dumbest front office in the league if we give in now. Part of being a general manager is actually managing the personalities and egos on the team. Murray for all the valid criticisms anyone can make is still our second best player and trading him for scraps only makes us worse. How hard is it to have a conversation with him and try to make some changes to pacify him at least for the rest of the season. A 2029 pick has next to no value for us. The hypothetical trade we'd need to make to bring in a quality player would need picks paired with a player like Murray.
  4. As far as I'm concerned, these losses are the result of trading decent players for nothing in return. While Huerter and Collins are individually not difference makers, they should've been traded with the intention of upgrading the roster. Not adding draft picks and shedding salary. Maybe we'll have to take another step back to create options for ourselves, but we'll never win anything with an owner unwilling to pay the luxury tax.
  5. Collins playing 30 minutes a game during JJ's absence would've gotten us more than 1 win. While Collin's may not be a difference maker, he was at least a good defender which we don't have enough of. Trading him for nothing was set us back. It wasn't a fatal decision, but you don't get better trading solid starters for nothing in return.
  6. Honestly can't be surprised at these losses. Trading Collins might have saved us money, but it also made us a weaker team. If this ownership is unwilling to go into the tax, we're not going to be a real contender.
  7. Completely unexpected, but I'm glad it got done. This ownership better be all in, because it's clear Murray is. If New Balance ever makes him a signature shoe, it's an instant cop.
  8. I hope JC tears it up in Utah, but this front office better have a trick up their sleeves because we just downgraded for nothing but cap relief.
  9. This team ain't serious about winning
  10. He did miss Hunter, but I bet he was worried about the 5 second violation and when Murray couldn't free himself in the corner, he knew he was running out of time.
  11. You can also blame the coach who refuses to make it a priority anybody touches the ball in a given night. McMillan coaches like Trae and Dejounte are the only two players who we can run the offense through.
  12. Should've let JJ inbound it. Why is McMillan so stubborn?
  13. Trae will likely age like Chris Paul. He'll adapt his game and become more of a facilitator. So long as he can shoot he'll be a scoring threat, just at a lower volume.
  14. You can win an NBA game by outgunning your opponent. When you're down two of your best defensive players, there needs to be more scoring to compensate. 121 points is a lot, but we needed more. Our guards aren't interested/capable of containing the ball on the perimeter. If we're going to win despite that, they gotta make shots.
  15. Teams didn't figure us out. JC can't hit a three and JJ backing him up can't shoot either. Trae ball works fine if you've got the shooters who can punish teams for bringing an extra man to stop the lob. We used to have the great benefit of JC shooting ~40% and Gallinari off the bench who was an even better shooter. Now we need to adapt and do some different things. We can still be successful but Trae ball won't get us far even though we've got a better roster now.
  16. Yeah I do want to run things through JJ, even if he's making mistakes initially. Watching somebody dribble the air out the ball isn't going to help him develop. We're losing games anyways, might as well take the lumps and see what he can do with a bigger role in the offense.
  17. In a game where Capela and Hunter are out, you go into it expecting not to be able to make stops. Even if John wasn't in foul trouble, we still don't have the personnel to consistently play good defense for 48 minutes without Hunter and Capela. That's why I'm focused on the offense, we have the firepower to out score the Lakers and we failed to do so. Obviously giving up 130 is why we lost, but we have the capability score more. This team plays well below the sum of its parts.
  18. It would be hard to trade Hunter and improve this team at the same time. Hopefully some other wing becomes disgruntled soon.
  19. The ball movement is bad because the coach insists everything is ran through Trae or Dejounte. We've got Jalen who's got potential as a playmaker but we do nothing with him. Bogi and Griffin barely even bring the ball up when Trae's in the game. It's clear the strategy is to lean on Trae and Dejounte to facilitate most of our offense and it's too predictable. We could do more on offense, but coaching won't open things up, I suppose out of fear of more turnovers. We've got enough shooting on the team outside of the 4 spot. If John and Jalen can at least become average with the open looks they get, we don't have a major spacing issue. And they can turn it around, that's not a permanent flaw in the roster. But so long as McMillan remains stuck in his ways, we we'll keep struggling.
  20. This team fits well enough, they need to actually play cohesively though. We're not getting the best out of anybody with this heliocentric offense. When the offense is clicking, maybe our guards will decide not to be traffic cones on defense.
  21. You and every other team in the lottery.
  22. All I can say is for anybody who doubts Hunter's importance on our team, this is what we look like defending without him.
  23. Just a diabolical performance. The Lakers should be blowing us out but thankfully they can't shoot consistently either.
