Ok, but how many 6'0" PGs who play no defense and turn the ball over way too much lead their teams to championships?
I agree it is high risk. But with his elite ball handling passing and shooting skills I'm willing to take that chance.

Young, high risk, high ceiling
Exactly. And that's what the Hawks need to do if they ever want to sniff a championship. The safe pick isn't going to get it done.

Im trying to...Might as well. Go Trae!!!Draft aint over yet..And Young can pass like a mf. Remember that..
He can pass he can shoot and has sick handles. Give him the pace and space of the NBA I think he will surprise people. People act like he's garbage cause he got hyped to high heaven then once every team focused on containing him he became the biggest bust ever.

HAHAHA ok now that is funny. He wouldn't even be a top 5 big man let alone top 5 player.

No, I felt good about the team right after ASG and Ted Turner years were pretty good. The playoff runs under the BK/Sund/Ferry group were what they were. Good but not great.
Man I totally agree. So when are you moving on????
Yeah I wasn't being 100% serious but being a fan of any Atlanta team definitely tests the patience of any fan. Doesn't help that I'm a GT fan, too.
I guess I just love misery with the occasional glimpse of hope only to be brought back down to Earth every time.

"Serious doubts about this organization"
When has this not been the case for Atlanta? LMAO welcome to being a Hawks fan.

So, he’s the top candidate for the top two jobs open right now. That should kill some narratives some are having when it comes to Bud.
There are no narratives about Bud, most of us are mad that he left. We all think he's a good coach. Only some have a narrative that he's one of the best of all time, which is ridiculous and not based on any facts.

Yep. Bud is one of the best basketball coaches of all time, just like Bobby is one of the best baseball coaches of all time. This Cleveland team also isn't half as good as the one Bud had to go up against without key rotation players as well.
Bud is one of the best of all time? Based on what exactly? We all thought Bud was a good coach but c'mon now. Why hasn't one of the best of all time been hired yet?

We are done talking KB on this thread. Get back to the topic ala capstone's latest post.
Sorry I couldn't resist.
Back on topic, I think Larranaga should be the top choice. He has been coaching with the best young coach in basketball for the past few years, and he had to have learned a lot from his father who has also been a great coach for a long time. I like the potential there.

I know you pro tankers don’t want to hear it, but it is a fact.

We didnt pay bud to leave. He left that bread on the table.
And dude is making shit up. The cost of a top pick is nothing to worry about. They damn sure didnt ease up the tank process at the end to save money by picking later
Can you confirm that? It seems people on this site have been saying according to an AJC article we are actually paying him (unless he gets another NBA job)?

Its painfully obvious that the Hawks are an investment and the ownership could care less about spending money for a winning team. Is there anyone that we have traded or let go we got anything significant from? Only thing I know is we have taken ending contracts and paid the full salary to get to the NBA minimum required salary. I dont think the Hawks want a top 3 pick because of the cost of the rookie contract.
We paid 14 million for Bud to go away but don't want to invest in a top 3 pick? LMAO

Yeah because a few years back when Bud was here all the star players were lining up to play in Atlanta!!

None of that is a meaningful distinction, IMO. Isaiah Thomas, Crowder, etc. were absolute dumpster fires when they were traded for value. Our guys were still very attractive pieces compared to guys like that.
For example, Al was 28-29 when he would have been traded in the offseason or midseason. You think that is too old? You think Griffin is actually a better player or that he is bringing a ton of celebrity spotlight to Detroit? Come on. You know better.
We passed on moving these guys.
Anyone who thinks we would have to take back bad contracts or not be able to trade multiple time all stars has their head in the sand.

Yeah, well then Philly fans are stupid too.
And some people thought they wouldn't even make the playoffs and then when they did said they'd get easily beat by the Heat. What would you call that person?

A GM should never intentionally be non competitive period. So, he shouldnt have to be a lying piece of shit like Travis is.

I'm not sure if Pop will actually retire this year. If anything he should have retired last year to spend time with his ailing wife. Now that she has passed I feel like that would be the worst time to retire, when you just lost your life partner. What is he going to do sit around in an empty house? I don't see it.

Budenholzer will completely change the culture of this team, and in doing so, he will once more make Phoenix an attractive free agent destination.
HAH! He changed our culture and I didn't see any big time free agents lining up to play for him.
