I don't even like Al Horford at all! I'm just saying, the 1-8 in the Eastern Conference is a lot weaker than it was last year.

Based on what? This is how I see it:

    1 Seed - 2016 Cleveland > 2017 Boston (obviously)

    2 Seed - 2016 Toronto < 2017 Cleveland

    3 Seed - 2016 Miami < 2017 Toronto

    4 Seed - 2016 Atlanta < 2017 Washington

    5 Seed - 2016 Boston < 2017 Atlanta

    6 Seed - 2016 Charlotte < 2017 Milwaukee

    7 Seed - 2016 Indiana < 2017 Indiana

    8 Seed - 2016 Detroit < 2017 Chicago

So... basically the only seed you can definitely say was stronger last year was the 1 seed. I'd take all of my picks straight up in a 7 game series.

  2. All I know is I would hate to resign Millsap for 30+ mil a year but at the same time I would hate to lose him for nothing just like we did with myself and Al. Hopefully we can sign him to a team friendly deal or else I think we will be looking back wishing we got some assets for him instead of letting him walk away for nothing (again).

  3. Do we seem to play much better against the best competition? Seems like we play awful against the awful teams but we always are neck and neck with the best teams in the league. And half the time it seems like we win. Anyone else notice this? Just trying to have some optimism that we'll turn it on for the playoffs.

Funniest part of this post is that it is from JSmoove.

i knew he was a big fan of the Hawks and Dwight, but seems a bit too soon for him to be showing up at games cheering us on. Thought he would be trying to make a team somewhere or something...

What? Was nobody else gonna say anything?

I got nothing better to do these days - just hoping Wilcox will spot me in the crowd and give me one last shot!!

I think having Dwight home is going to change the fan perception this year.  Atlanta loves stars, especially hometown ones.

I was at the game, and one of the loudest cheers of the night (besides showing Gucci courtside) was when Dwight walked off the court in the 4th quarter. I hope the fans can keep this up all season, I know I'll do my part!

I personally do not have a problem with this deal because on the open market as a restricted free agent someone was going to offer him the max contract and we keep get him for less then the Max so I'm fine with this deal and you guys should be too.  This deal is the nature of the NBA now, with the new TV deals this is the way the NBA is going to be in terms of signing free agents a lot of players are getting overpaid and not worth that money their being paid sorry folks #DS17 is Worth it in more go hawks.

So is this Dennis? This man had the inside scoop before this was ANYWHERE on the interwebz.

This is what I'm looking at. For 3 years now he's been declining in every category that matters while playing the same amount of minutes.

Add in the fact that nobody actually knows his real age and some speculate he could be on the wrong side of 30... and you can see it in his game. He has lost a LOT of his explosiveness that he had early on in his career. He's not the same guy.

I just don't see how he is SO much more valuable than Teague, who has improved every year until this past season where he split time with Dennis and was injured.

Next year Teague will be back to how he was playing last season... where almost everyone regarded him as a top 10 PG.

I understand Ibaka type players are more rare in today's NBA, my point is that these trades are not even close. Ibaka may be more valuable than Teague, but not by that much!!

Just think of what we could have gotten for Millsap last night compared to that Ibaka trade.  3rd pick? A bunch of young guys?

Now, we will try to re-sign Horford to max, then Millsap to max, and start the decline.

From what I've seen out of our new GM(s) so far, we probably would've gotten the same return the Thunder did at best. And I'm really not joking sadly.

  9. I agree it seems GMs around the league must value Ibaka WAY more than Teague or else this is just an awful trade.

    BUT...

I also think that there is a difference between the talent of GMs as well. Look at the moves Presti has made over his career and compare that to Bud so far.

If we had Ibaka on our team I bet we wouldn't have gotten a haul like that.

By the same token, I bet most GMs around the league wouldn't have traded Teague for only a #12 pick. We were desperate.

Freaking MARCO BELINELLI was traded for the 22nd pick. Something just doesn't seem right.

  10. Can someone please explain to me how Teague lands us the 12th pick but...

Ibaka is apparently worth the 11th pick, Oladipo, and Ilysaova.

Both are on expiring contracts. Ibaka has never even made an All Star game and has been steadily declining for years.

Does anyone have a way to justify this? I feel like we just got schooled. Maybe it's just the Magic are even bigger idiots than we are.

What?????  Anyway, new Hawks cap update.

I say that because based on Marc Stein's tweet saying we're already shopping these picks to try to impress Horford. So clearly that is who the front office wants to build around if we're about to pay him a 9 figure contract.

Then obviously Dennis is the point guard of the future. This is the only part I don't have a problem with - I thought we definitely needed to keep him over Teague.

Basically, my issue with this trade is I feel we should have gotten a MUCH better return for Teague. Last season, in a stronger draft, we traded the 15th pick for Tim freaking Hardaway. Apparently he's pretty much valued the same as Teague (I know he has one year left on the contract) - so in my opinion since we didn't get a starting caliber player for the 15th pick we either got fleeced last year or fleeced this year. Probably both.

If the number 12 pick comes anywhere close to having the type of production Teague has had in his career we would consider ourselves extremely lucky.

    Al beasting!!??  You so silly.

Lol I know right. The only way I like this is if you sign Al long-term and make him the stretch 4. He can't play center anymore, he doesn't play like one that's for sure.

Trade Millsap for a talented wing player, let Baze walk for anything more then 10/year and sign a REAL big man.
