  1. Well we will see what Haslem has to offer next week in the summer games at Boston. I am hoping we can find a spot for him on the team.
  2. Someone on this board had stated that Leon was missing some of his workouts this summer. I believe it was BlackHawk Down. He stated one of the player's mother had told them that Leon won't even get up to go to practice even if one of the players comes to his apartment. In a way I sort of believe this story, sometimes a person slips back to there old habits, especially when they are young like Leon.
  3. Hotlanta I asked Pete about that today this is what he said He is planning on playing in the final 3 games in Boston, but not the entire summer league. Pete Babcock
  4. Personally if I were Cookie I would have took the rookie minimum, even though I would make more overseas. The reason being is that at least he would have had "his foot in the door" to use a cliche. If he could have came in and played hard for that one year it could have lead to bigger and better things, now he is still in the same situation he was last summer which is trying to make it to the NBA. Sometimes we have to pay our dues.
  5. I had asked Babs do any of the players who play in our summer league games have a legitamate shot at making the team and he said if they perform well enough they do. I then emailed him again and asked him why Belcher wasn't signed last year, here is his response. He turned down our contract offer for a better offer overseas. We followed Cookie closely throughout the season and we were going to bring him back in this summer, but his agent wants him to go elsewhere due to Dickau being drafted...we are following him in the summer league also. When a team in capped, they can offer only a minimum deal, and some players can do better overseas. After Cookie turned us down our coaches wanted to sign Davis and Vaughn. Pete Babcock
  6. I know Nazr is a decent backup but on another team. Both Ratliff and Mohammed aren't that good in the rebounding dept. which was one of the reasons we were getting blown out earlier in the season before Ira came in. I asked Pete whether we were going to address the center position and not just the guard and Small Forward positon. He basically stated that we are talking trades with a number of teams to address a number of postions no just one in particular. We probably are not going to carry no more than 2 centers maybe 3 if we go with 2powerforwsrds on our roster.
  7. Yeah it's her legs and butt that make her look fine not necessarily her looks. She isn't the ugliest girl I have seen but she isn't the prettiest either.
  8. Alain Digbeu seems like a shorter more athletic version of Ira Newble. I still doubt if he has much of a chance of making our roster.
  9. Redd is our man. This is the guy I want. Isn't he a pretty good defender as well? Maybe we trade Dion Glover, not that I don't like Dion but he is injuried goods, and have Michael Redd and Dermarr Johnson battle it out for the starter's job. Micheal Redd's 44%shoooting from 3 land along with Toni and Terry's shooting should free up Rahim to go to work in the Post.
  10. I would start Jerome James over Mohammed simply because he is a better rebounder and he blocks shots. Nazr can play around 25mpg and James 23mpg.I like the deal as well. Ratliff might be better now than James but James has alot of potential plus he is a true center a 7'1 270 unlike Theo 6'10 230lbs.Theo is the reason the trade would work but the Hawks are afraid to let Theo go(They to some extent over value him).
  11. Who are you snaggle? Do you live near one of the Hawk players? How do you know this certain player's mother?

    Hanno

I know this thread is getting pretty long but I would just like to give my assessment of Mottola. To me Kruger was using Hanno wrong. Kruger primarly used him as a set jump shooter. They would run a pick so Hanno could spot up for the open jumper. That was basically all that Kruger had Hanno to do on offense, but I think Hanno would have been better if used more down low on the block. I know that he doesn't have alot of upperbody strength but he has some good moves down low. I remember watching him during the summer games at Life back in 2000. I was really impressed with this guy. There was a guy sitting next to me saying that Hanno's game looked good and I agreed. I know that summer league play isn't like the regular season but I just think Hanno should play more down low,but he needs to get stronger to play their on a regular basis, but he does have the skills unlike Cal Bowdler.
  13. Okay hawksfreak you say you speak to Pete alot, are you talking about by email or speaking to him in person? Do you work down at the CNN Center? If you can give us some type of answer on how you know him we might believe you, otherwise you come across as being annoying.
  14. Yeah Charles was talking about every other thing besides basketball. He even asked Hanno after the game were there any black people in Finland.LOL!
  15. Dude you must have been looking at another post besides the one I was looking at. He was refferring to Ira and not Hanno, he has no Idea if and/ or will we be looking to bring Hanno back. Just because Babs might think Hughes is a talented player doesn't mean we will sign him.
  16. Yeah Dickau might not be signed as of now but he will be. You know if it came down to it Leon would be the odd man out.
  17. Well why would he say 12 instead of 13? I thought we didn't hide players on our roster?
  18. for next season. Look at Babs comments in Asked the GM. When he says after signing Newble it will bring our roster to 12. Let's check the hawks future roster with Newble included. Jason Terry Dan Dickau Emanual Davis Dermarr Johnson Dion Glover Toni Kukoc Ira Newble Chris Crawford Shareef Abdur Rahim Alan Henderson Theo Ratliff Nazr Mohammed That's 12 players under contract! Doesn't look like Leon is on the team unless we make some moves.
  19. KB they Edited part of my email in ask the GM. I had also asked Pete about some players they were trying to obtain and listed guys like Redd, Donyell Marshall and Devean George. The part about them exploring trades was in reference to that question which didn't get printed.
  20. Let's see my favorite games and/or plays are as follows Hawks beating the cavs in Double OT. Terry's 3pointer at the end of regulation had me out of my seat. Hawks beating Philly on TNT. My favorite moment of that game was when the Hawks were mounting a comeback against the 76er's. Philly had missed a shot on their end of the court, Shareef grabs the rebound dribbles the ball the length of the court stops at the 3point line The next thing you hear Chalres Barkley says... "Boy don't take that shot!" SWOOOSH!!! nothing but the bottom of the net for Shareef Abdur Rahim, the crowd goes crazy at Phillips. Shareef is shown with his fist held high in the air. The Hawks 1st game against the Raptors at Phillips. Even though we lost the game the play where Toni Kukoc saves a pass from going out of bounds and throws it to a open Nazr Mohammed was just spectacular. The Hawks holding off a rally by the Lakers at the Staples center to defeat the champs. Dermarr Johnson's nasty block on Anthony Johnson against the New Jersey Nets. Shareef rejecting Anthony Mason's shot attempt under the basket. Mason was litterally banging the crap out of Shareef under the basket but Reef stood his ground and sent Mason weak stuff out of their. Hendu hitting a 3pointer against the Suns at the close of the 2nd quarter.
  21. I got tired of this guy saying that Hanno was going to be resigned so I emailed Babs and this was his words.. We are attempting to re-sign Ira Newble and if he signs, we will have the 12 player limit. I don't yet know about Hanno...we are talking about trades with a number of teams. Pete Babcock
  22. He is also wrong about Glover belonging at the end of the bench and Dermarr moving over to SF. I thought Curtis Bunn and Terrance Moore were the only dumb sports writers but Mark Bradley is making me believe he belongs in that group.Bradley making statements like that makes me feel happy he doesn't come by on HawkSquawk anymore to give his professional opinion.
  23. I still have my doubts about DJ at the small Forward postion even if he has put on 15lbs. He got absoutley schooled trying to guard guys like Jerome Williams last year.I think he needs to stay at the 2guard.

    Monday Insider

Well looks like we know where Jacque is going. Jason Kidd & Jacque Vaughn would make the best pointguard tandem in the East.
  25. Graymule I just wanted to comment on your statement about the Developmental league. The "minor" leagues in the NBA doesn't work the same way as in baseball, even though there is a developmental team in Columbus GA they are not our farm team. NBA teams can choose from any team in the NBDL. I might have misunderstood your statement, maybe you were saying you wish it was that way? I would like to see it as the way you listed also.
