I can imagine a world where swapping Murray for Ingram makes us marginally better.  But, once you factor in the cost to acquire and the potential contract, the juice ain't worth the squeeze.

This is where I am with BI. Overpaid and not as good as his rep. Probably not worth the acquisition cost.

I like 1 but I'd feel better about it if JI could ever stay healthy.

2 is good, even though I think BI is is overpaid and probably not as good as his rep. Daniels is the real prize here though.

3 is just eww. Hard pass

4 is great but I'd prefer to send out someone other than Bogi. Send Hunter instead, imo.

Time to bump this thread. What are some of the TPE targets that would interest you?

It is worth $23.01 million, not a penny more!!! (So only contracts less than or equal to this)

Can you give a refresher on how it can be used?  Can it be that and a player?  IE, Can it be a $20M player + a 10M player for just a $7M player?  Can we send anything out when using it?  If not, how do we get a team to give us a useful $23M player for nothing?

I need a tutorial on the TPE.  Thanks.

This is one of the weakest drafts I can recall.

So inevitably we will crack a top 3 pick.

    Yup.

I said it earlier, but it would be the most Hawks thing ever to get the top pick in one of the weakest top end drafts in the last 20 years.  Hell, I'm halfway expecting it at this point.  And then they can make a pick, have 2nd or 3rd guy taken turn into an all star and have to listen to the entire NBA mock the Hawks for screwing it up.

  5. Yall see Brunson doing the sudden stop and jump back into defender to draw the foul move?

Trae does it and our own fans whine and demand he be gone cuz they are over him. Brunson does it and he's just a quality player. LOL

Spud, guess what!  Brunson did this thing where he drove to the rim, stopped, and let the defender run into him!  *tweet*  free throws 12 and 13!

Announcer: "Amazing how Brunson decelerates to cause the contact.  What a heady play!!"

You can't make this stuff up, man.  Smh

Damn. You beat me by a matter of seconds.

Here is another variation that works:

My working assumption is any trade that we would do probably requires us to give more to the Suns.  Obviously, we have some picks we could trade like the Kings pick but SA owns most of what we have for the next few years.

    I'm thinking it's more like:

    DJM/CC or Hunter/pick for KD

I wouldn't add Bufkin if I could help it.

I think I have made my decision:

Rooting more for Knicks to lose......I think the fan meltdown would be more enjoyably EPIC!!! 😄

    Hated Team Rankings:

    1. Boston
    2. NYK
    3. Heat
    4. Mavs
    5. Sixers
    6. Magic
    7. Lakers
    8. Cavs
    9. Pacers
    10. Bucks
    11. Pels
    12. Clippers
    13. Suns
    14. Nuggets
    15. OKC
    16. Wolves

If any 2 teams play, I'll always root for the higher ranked team to lose.  1-5 are pretty set in stone for the current playoffs.  6-13 are somewhat interchangeable to me.  14-16 are also pretty set in stone.

I maintain that our current front office is good but is hampered by ownership who wants to interject their desires into the equation.  Our previous GM wasn't that good though at team building, and we are paying for mistakes he made.

You may be 100% correct about Landry and Kyle, but does it really matter?  Tony and Nicky aren't firing themselves so they might as well be lumped in as part of any front office conversation.

    Zero confidence in FO.

I'm watching these playoffs and just shaking my head. The East was WIDE open 2-8. Just put together a competent roster with depth and they're in the playoffs. . It ain't that hard man.

Wasted opportunity. And zero confidence we get it right next season.

I've done the same thing.  Just felt like I probably wasted your time.  Ah well.  It is a nice chart. If you just remove the games played column then the Suns could use it when people come calling for Durant.

I do love a good chart.  Haha

Is that going to be real?  I ask because the "synonymous like the Eiffel Tower to Paris" seems like a parody.

Can't imagine it's real.  The company that posted it - JHO - is a cabinets and countertops company, not a developer.  And I haven't heard or seen anything in the Atlanta real estate media that mentions anything about it.  Not that I see everything, but I do work in the industry so I figure I would have heard something if true.

Did you leave after hitting the reply button cuz you said “went” like up outta your seat 💺?

Nah. Since I just did a partial quote, I grabbed it from AHF's post and then made the chart from bball reference on my other screen.  I should have just hit refresh before I replied.

Not sure how long you spent making this post but I almost immediately edited my post about 20 minutes before you posted this to read:

Durant’s teams haven’t done much since he was in GS.  Real questions there despite Durant’s numbers.

I made the edit for the same reason you point out.  I sat for 30 seconds and thought "that really isn't true, his individual numbers are still there even if he has missed a bunch of games...the issue is really that his teams haven't contended despite him playing with some very big name players.

Yeah...I didn't see the correction.  I just hit reply and then went and made the chart.  Oh well.  Sounds like we are on the same page.

Durant hasn’t done much in like 5 years now.

    Hasn't done much?  Wut?

    KD.thumb.jpg.c05e006ad005191a0ef1172a53f8b1c7.jpg

The highlighted year is his MVP season.  The rest is the last 4 years since his achilles injury.  He's still avg. 27/6.6/5.0 which isn't far off of his MVP season.  He played 75 games this year. He's still shooting 56.0% eFG and 62.6% TS.  I know some of his advanced metrics like PER, WS, and VORP have declined from the MVP season, but he'd still lead the Hawks this year in those categories by a decent margin.  Let's not act like he's some bum that can't play.  He'd still be the best player on the Hawks the minute he walked through the door.

Now whether those numbers are worth $50M+ per season is a fair discussion.  But saying "he hasn't done much" is a pretty big exaggeration, imo.

The game is the same, but the names have changed!!!

    Let's Play:

If you had to keep one - who would you keep?

If you had to keep two - who would you keep?

    And why?

    Bogi

    Bogi / Dre

I've said it before, but I'm fine keeping Dre and CC as long as they are coming off the bench in back up roles.  I don't want either starting.  I'm not trading Bogi unless I'm getting legit better in the process.

Our LT situation will also depend on wether we are not just winning but serious contenders for at least the ECF in the coming years.

Ahh....the blissful ignorance of a simpler time. A time before salary dumps, Holiday experiences, and roster construction nightmares. Looking back at this thread, I was so naive about what was to come.

    ECF contenders you say?....

I'm torn on OO.  Yes he's shown he can be a starter but his availability is more than questionable.

If he's our starter, the backups cannot be Capela or Bruno.  And the other wing cannot be Hunter.  And the 2 cannot be Murray.  Positional size just doesn't work, imho.

I think he'll be a good NBA player for a long time, but I still see him more like a Taj Gibson type.  Slightly better.

The fact that he never supplanted capela ... throughout his whole rookie deal ... is problematic, so say the least.

I championed the "Start OO over Clint" campaign this past season.  And it's clear Quin had other ideas and didn't feel the way I did.  Looking back on it, I was probably something less than right on that issue.  As of now, I'm not necessarily seeking to trade OO, but I'm certainly open to it if the deal arises. I just don't believe he's what Quin is looking for at the 5.

    Current Hawks Roster Draft slot:

    Dre - 4th

    Trae - 5th

    OO - 6th

    AJ - 15th

    Kobe - 16th

    Bey - 19th

    JJ - 20th

    Bogi- 25th

    CC - 25th

    Windler- 26th

    DJ - 29th

    Bruno - 34th

    Vit - 37th

    Gueye - 39th

    Lundy - 46th

    Wes - undrafted

    Garri - undrafted

    Trent  - undrafted

So highest drafted is 7th or 8th best player on team?  No Bueno.

Why the Warriors, Bulls, Hawks and Kings face tough choices after Play-In Tournament exits - The Athletic

    Some snippets:

    • John says the Hawks could return all 12 players with contracts for next season, sign Vit to a NBA deal, and fill out the rest of the team with the likely 10th pick and stay a hair under the luxury tax.
    • He also says that league handicappers, whatever that means, believe that Young is more likely to be moved than Murray.
    • He says that trading young for multiple smaller deals allows them to push themselves back from the tax line and also sets them up to give Jalen Johnson a big extension.
    • John Collins trade exception expires June 26th, but he says Atlanta could use this exception to generate one of similar size in a Young deal.

I think he significantly undersells the continued improvement of Jalen and Onyeka.

I'm thinking the "league handicappers" he references are basing their opinions on the fact that they believe the Hawks will stay under the tax line at all costs and they figure the best way forward is to trade away the biggest contract?  It doesn't say that they believe the Hawks would rather trade Trae than Murray.  Just that he's more likely to be moved.  And it goes on to talk almost exclusively about the differences in contract and what they could get with $40M.

IOW, it reads like a "Hawks are cheap so the logical move is to trade away the high priced player."
