  1. You missed the point..The comparison was not the quality of highly drafted CENTERS vs highly drafted pg's. It was a simple statement that a GOOD BIG usually developes quicker than a GOOD PG. It was also not just limited to centers, but big guys in general..(I notice you left Howard off last years comparison). Look just at last year: Howard, Okafur vs Livingston, Harris..The big guys have a more immediate impact. If a guy is a bust like Kwame or Jay williams, then it really doesn't matter.
  2. Very few point guards(Devin Harris) make any impact before there 3rd or 4th year, a good bigman can have an immediate impact(Howard, Okafur)..I would rather sign a developing point guard(maybe like Earl Watson) than to pay huge money to a mediocre lazy playing big man(Brown, Swift, or Delambert). Draft Bogut
  3. Hit a couple of jump shots including a 3 pointer as time was running out but most of his points were as a result of taking it to the hole , putbacks or at the line. He looks more and more like a pretty good starting 3. In many ways I like his game at the 3 better than Al's. He is definately a better rebounder and has better handles.
  4. What makes anyone think he can shoot?..Not only does he miss, he misses badly..People want so badly to believe he is the next Nique they refuse to see him for what he can be, a dominant, shotblocking, rebounding pf.
  5. I mean he can't shoot. Hope you watched tonight..
  6. He is a 6'7" shooting guard..A pretty good player but not close to being a NBA point guard.
  7. Diaw, Donta, Chills, Smoove, and Walker for a few games..It would be exciting to see all the young guys play together, and probably cement our top 2 lottery position.
  8. Instead of Lottery Protected I would do it top 7 or top 10 protected..Or something along those lines..That way we would be sure to get it this season..That would give us an excellent shot at something like Bogut and Jack in the draft.
  9. Assets: Harrington..A possible 20-10 3/4..Only 24 years old, reasonably priced..Definately a complimentary player rather than a focal point. Chills..A possible 20-8 2/3..Much better suited to the 3. Only a rookie, starting to show with minutes and opportunity he can produce. Smoove..Nowhere near as offensively ready as Harrington or Chills..Already the best help defender and with minutes possibly the best rebounder on the team..Offense at this point is almost completely limited to putbacks and cuts to the basket..Cannot dribble or shoot. Another 3/4 whose game resembles more Dennis Rodman than Donique Wilkens tight now. Donta..Looks very good in limited minutes and games..Looks like a very good, strong, long armed defender..Has nice moves around the basket, a decent ball handler..Yet another 2/3 player. In my opinion, these 4 players are part of our future core..Walker is our best player, however his position will be filled by Harrington and Smoove..Delk is playing like a guy we could trade to a playoff contender for either a draft choice or a youngster with promise..Ivy looks like any number of guys that could be grabbed off the waiver wire, Diaw will be a good player somewhere, I just doubt it will be here. I am beginning to think he can play the point, but at a very low level, he does not make his teammates offensively any better. Drobs is a decent 2nd or 3rd center.Lue would be ok for a 3rd string point guard. the rest, you can have them..We need to make every effort to secure the worst record, we are this close we need to at least give ourselves the best opportunity to get the number one overall..We need Bogut, a smooth passing big man with atheletes like Smoove, Chills, and Donta, all babies..That would be a great show. We can use either our caproom, or perhaps an extra 1st rounder we can pick up for Walker or Delk for our point guard. Thoughts?
  10. Chills game is much better suited to the 3 ..He is a better floor runner than a spot up shooter.
  11. Kenny Anderson has been a disapointment in his pro career..He has never lived up to the potential he showed early on..He also has had a reputation as a poor locker room presence and was even a self admitted poor presence early this year for our young guys.As for Chris Paul, I am hoping we don't draft a 5'11" point guard..The guy he reminds me of is Damon Stoudamire..He will get posted up continuously in the NBA.
  12. Apparently we talked to Charlotte about sending a future 2nd for him..He is BK's type, in the Steven Hunter mold.. http://prosportsdaily.com/nba/bobcats/rumors.html BTW..Sampson has averaged over 5 rebounds in less than 15 minutes a game so he might be worth a look. Time to disable Kevin Willis and give Sampson a 10 day look.
  13. Why, it seems to me that both are doing just fine, and its good to have 3 starter type players for 2 positions, thats how champions are made. Lets face it, AW, Al, Smoove, and even Chills all play like 3/4 tweeners..Why not let them man those positions and make it a team strength.
  14. What is wrong with keeping both? Al and Antoine are not the reason we are bad..The lack of a 1, 2, and a 5 are the reasons we suck. If we can sign Antoine to a reasonable contract we should definately keep him. Lets face it, at this point and for the foreseeable future Antoine is far and away our best player.. Al is still a clear notch below AW..For those who think Smoove is ready to replace AW, that is just silly.. Smoove has great potential, but at this point he is little more than a great leaper. He could learn alot of offense from AW. I would love a forward rotation of Al and AW, backed up by Chills and Smoove..Draft Bogut, sign Earl Watson, and use all other resourses to add outside shooting..And is it just me, or does Donta look very very impressive?..And for those who want to waste our cap room on a dog like Dalambert, who only plays hard about half the time, just watch him play and follow his lines, he does not help the Sixers very much, why would anyone think he would help us..And scout after scout are now saying Bogut is clearly a better prospect than Okafur was last year, our choice should be easy. We could end up with::: Watson, Ivy, Delk Diaw, Donta, Free agent Al, Chills AW, Smoove Bogut, Drob We are still young, still flexible, and with Bogut and Watson we change the team drastically for the better.

    Keep Walker

Antoine Walker is a warrior, plain and simple. He is not a perfect player, he may not be a true superstar, but he plays HARD night in and night out..It is true we can obviously not pay him 14 million a year, but if we can sign him to a reasonable contract(maybe 5 years 45 to 50?), he will not only be a building block , but a leader by example to this young team. He is easily, and I mean easily the best player to wear a Hawks uniform since Nique. He is better than SAR, better than Sheed, better than Deke, and please don't say Steve Smith.
  16. We all know Lue is nothing but a backup and Anderson is past his time..Why not see if Diaw and Ivy can play..I personally believe Diaw has some potential..Ivy, I still can't believe we selected him over Duhon.
  17. Not only about Woodson's ability to utilize his talents but in general about Woodsons decision making process..For example, why does Woodson insist on playing one of his awful centers all the time. Collier is just awful, Drobs has the game of a 6'3" shooting guard(all outside shooting , NO DEFENSE, NO REBOUNDING), Ekezzie has a 1" vertical leap, and might hit 30 percent if he shot all by himself about 2 feet from the basket. Why not just let Walker play the 5, have Harrington at the 4, Smoove and Chills at the 3, Delk as much as possible at the 2, and let Diaw and Ivy split time at the point. Walker has at least as much of a chance to defend the post as Drobs or Collier, he would make the opposing center work on defense, and is a much better rebounder than either one. Harrington could play what appears to be his more natural 4 spot, and we don't hold back the developement of the young guys..Why not let Diaw and Ivy play alot to see if either has any future..Lue has a decent game occasionally but is obviously nothing more than a backup in this league. Anderson needs to go, and Donta needs a few minutes..Lets see what these guys can do..
  18. We never play a game that means a damn thing..It is a huge surprise if we actually win..The only topics discussed here, among the very best of Hawks fans, are who's salary we can dump, how high we can get in the lottery, and who will we select with that pick..Hell, some people here are already talking about NEXT YEARS lottery and who we can get then..Does anyone else here actually wish we could be talking about playoff standings, homecourt advantages, or a meaningful game against a division rival?..I know, BK said it might take 5 years to retool..I think that is a load of crap, that is just someone setting extremely low expectations so nothing will be expected of them. It didn't take Indy, Detroit, or Miami 5 years to become competitive, why should we expect any less for the Hawks?
  19. He looks like the real deal, he is big, fluid, tough, competition tested, and loaded with post moves..He reminds me a little of Kevin McHale with his lost post assortment. While Bogut looks like the best all around big man in the draft Josh Boone looks like the best defensive big man..I would really rather go big early then pick up a point guard later..The draft is so loaded with point guards we may be able to get one in the 2nd round..
  20. And it made no difference in players wanting to come to a horrible team..And, in case you haven't noticed, we don't play hard every game, about 1 in 3 we get literally blown off the court..And if, BK didn't tell Stotts to tank the season, he should be fired, cause that was the whole purpose of gutting the team, to get a better pick.
  21. It looked like Walker and Lue were lecturing Harrington as they walked off the court, I have a feeling that was supposed to be Harringtons play.
  22. Swifts game is basically the just like Smooves, and he is 4 years into the league..He has abosolutely no offensive skills.
  23. Nazr salary was not a burden on the team, and while he may not be a star, he all, by himself puts up better numbers than Collier, Drob, and Willis combined..Bk could have also made it very clear to Stotts last year, DO NOT WINNNNN..That would have been easy since it is a very common practice in the NBA to tank for a better draft pick..As for Smooth, we would have had at least a top 17 pick last year even if we didn't trade anyone..We may not have Chills, but Smoove would have been around for BK to take.
  24. If we actually pulled this trade off, how would we keep Artest from poisoning the attitude of our babies..The Smiths, Chills, Ivy, and 2 or 3 more young guys next year need some decent veteran influence..Even if you don't care for Walkers game there is no doubt he is a quality person, and if you love Artests game, there is no doubt he is a lunatic..I hope the only way we do this trade is if there is something else for us..I would take Artest, Pollard, and either a number 1 this year or Harrison, for Walker, and a number 2 from us..If we do it without either the number 1 or Harrison, then we risk trading Walker for 1 year of Pollard and have nothing else to show for the trade if Artest goes nuts again..I think it is widely believed that if Artest has anymore incidents he might get a lifetime ban.
  25. As we watch our team desperately need a PG and a C we should remember the self proclaimed "basketball expert" BK, traded both of them(DD and Nazr) away last year for basically nothing..Everytime I see one of the "BK is an genius" posts I am amazed..It does not take a genius to dump salary to try to be bad..Dumping salary and remaining competitive is the trick..Then when you factor in that along with the high salaries, we dumped some reasonably priced young players at positions that are hard to fill, it does not sound so genius to me.
