  1. Okay I said I'm in for a rebuild because I didn't see a path to sustainable success down the road. What do we do hypothetically when Paul is 35 after fighting for the 8 seed after spending our draft capital fighting with aging vets because you have said trade Tuaren and our picks. Fall off with no draft picks?
  2. Where were the 2 best players in the NBA drafted (1 & 2) thank you.
  3. What all-Star caliber player Paul didn't make an all star appearance. Maybe he makes the all star team in the east but you think that Millsap alone at 33 is making this team a truly competitive team? Yes If I'm an NBA owner I'm not paying extra to be mediocre if I don't see a future if thats the question. Kemba is an all star they are trying to win and look at them.
  4. You have no answer to what you would have done to improve the team from last year with letting THJ walk. Owners aren't going to pay a dude 30 million to mentor someone especially when the team lost money the year before.
  5. Not when the MAYBE 8 seed looses the city money. We came out negative after making the playoffs last year with less money on books. so why keep that core together when clearly no one wanted to see Paul decline.
  6. You just realize there was no way to get this team to a top 6 seed in the east this year even spending crazy amounts of money. The Hawks LOST money last year.
  7. yes 107 million on 11 players even if we sign vets on minimums would put us around 115 million 26 million over the cap. Even with our roster last year and making the playoffs the hawks lost money so why pay 26 million over the cap when the team even lost money last season. http://www.businessinsider.com/nba-teams-losing-money-revenue-sharing-2017-9 and if you want to compete you needed Hardaway Jr back so at that 115 number maybe we are the 8th seed but more likely around 10th
  8. So what would you have done to make us a playoff team this year because we bring everyone back in the east we are about 10th way over the cap imo.
  9. I really didn't mind resigning Muscala if we are trying to rebuild since he has been with the team so long simmilar to Nick Collison in OKC. Only issue I had with Illyasova is you had the bird no trade clause so we were unable to deal him at the deadline.
  10. Lmao maybe the visual will help him realize we would have had one of the most expensive payrolls in the NBA had we brought everyone back.
  11. Um that doesn't help our cap situation contracts got to still match. And what exact veterans would push this team to top 2 in the east.
  12. We had no cap space to sign anyone else.
  13. I agree about baze but I kinda think we may have bid against ourselves on Dwight.
  14. The hawks had a negative plus minus last year why would we be significantly better this year had we kept what we had last year?
  15. Sap should have been traded 2 years ago. Schlenk had the option to sign him for 90 million or let him walk. He made the right choice.
  16. So the Bulls tank that netted them Michael Jordan was a failure because they were bad for a few years while he grew up.
  17. What NBA owner would want to pay that to maybe make the playoffs as a mediocre team?
  18. You still don't understand Paul was never even offered a contract because the hawks would go over the cap even matching Denver's deal.
  19. See you saw a winning culture I saw a mediocre culture who never took risks who when the stars aligned we got swept by a team who was without 2 all stars. And don't bring up Korver and Carroll were out we weren't beating them or Golden State for that matter. Derrick Favors is a guy I like and a hometown guy, however he has said on multiple occasions he doesn't want to play center so unless you want to play him and collins at center together I don't really see the fit.
  20. In no way would ownership pay Sap 90 million to see his numbers decline from age. Howard is a solid piece not for 20+ million and how do you get better from there with no cap space. we would be stuck for 3 years with a 30+ year old PF making 35 million and Dwight at 30+ making just under 30mil. That sound good to you?
  21. yes I'd say finding 2 hall of fame players outside the top 10 in drafts that close together one of the luckier things of all time. Most would agree they are both top 30 all time at least and could argue top 20. The odds are obviously higher of nailing a pick if you are drafting higher not anywhere close to a lock but higher for sure. Besides what would you have liked the hawks to have done this past offseason sign Millsap and go way over the cap? (Not that Ressler would have done it and don't blame him)
  22. Gotcha so get super lucky is your strategy. It has be done twice in 30+ years
  23. 1 and if you think that is repeatable you don't really know the NBA.
  24. I'm not saying they wouldn't be better. The team was barely a playoff team last year what makes you think that we were locks this year if Millsap was back? We maybe competing with Detroit right now
  25. Even that team would be a borderline mediocre playoff team. Trading our draft assets maybe the stupidest thing I've heard since I have been here.
