We would have young pieces with several on rookie deals instead of 30+ year old ones who are overpaid in that scenario. That sounds better than resign Sap and have no true assets moving forward right? If we are back in the playoffs when our draft pick this year is hypothetically 25-27 with several lottery prospects with him I like that future over fighting for a playoff spot this year with an old expensive roster any day.

Brett Brown has sat through the 76ers rebuild as a Pop guy. I'm sure if you laid out a plan for Bud that gets more talent on the roster through the draft (after he unsuccessfully tried to build without it) he would be down to listen. I mean Brown is now given the opportunity to coach 2 all star caliber players and they are 21 and 23 Imagine what Bud could do with Embiid after expanding Sap's game.

I'm sorry but if teams thought he was valuable to win a championship they would have traded for him at the deadline you could have easily thrown the hawks an expiring deals with a future first to get him. I wouldn't be surprised if he is traded this off-season.

I'm not implying that at all. You got to draft well be savy with free agents and know when to cut bait as well as get really lucky to win a championship. The celtics didn't go through a rebuild process doing just this.They Drafted Paul Pierce signed KG and Ray Allen and then cut bait at the right time saying I'd rather miss a decent playoff run to trade Pierce and Garnett for a haul to allow them not to be forced to tank. The hawks could have done a lite version of this by trading Sap a year ago but didn't pull the trigger so when Schlenk got here his only option was to start a rebuild because the opportunity to acquire the necessary assets was missed.

There were not moves to be made. You can say that if you want but your only options were go over the cap with a mediocre old roster with no chance of ever winning a title or blow it up and try and get some draft assets. The hawks have had less assets than any team in the NBA for years now save MAYBE the nets.

Trading away your few assets for Jay Crowder who moped in Cleveland and Jordan Bell and Thabo back our the saviors lmao. So Schröder/Delaney, Baze/Thabo, Crowder/Thabo, Sap/Collins, Dwight/Bell that wins how many games I think we are worse than the year before with Sap a year older and no Korver for the whole season while paying significantly more.

That is another thing I love the thought of pairing up Jontay Porter (shoots 35% from 3 at 6'11)with Collins. With Doncic running the point we would be so long and I think Porter would fit well with Buds ideal big and he is still a baby (Graduated high school early). I like Porter better than any wing or guard we could get in the 20s. 5 of Schröder/Doncic, Doncic/Bazemore, Prince, Collins, Porter probably wouldn't win a lot because so young but I bet fun to watch I'd go watch.

Please don't compare Doncic's athleticism to Korver ever again. Doncic is at least the athlete Gordon Hayward is maybe a little more in my eyes. I doubt you have watched much of him if you believe that. the guy is 6'8" 230 pushing the ball with pace with a couple former AMERICAN NBA players on his team.

His defensive numbers are bad and I think Luka can be the best euro non big ever. A lot will be said if he comes over for the combine but he looked really good against a lot of NBA talent in EuroBasket. He is scoring over guys like Kristaps in several of the highlights. I also value perimeter play> post play in Bud's offense fwiw.

I like Doncic's floor over Ayton's. I like Ayton but this is a crucial draft to get a player that can produce and run a team and Doncic has been running Real Madrid who has had a couple former NBA players on it. That being said I will not be unhappy at all if we walk away with Ayton.

100% agree with this but could see the Suns going center as well as the kings I see Doncic as a primary ball handler and they traded for Payton who has at least shown a little there and the kings have their guards so a post would make since as well. This is all just me being hopeful if we fall 3+ but I like several prospects 3- this is a deep draft.

Okay. I get it he was a top 100 player all time and was awesome he isn't Lebron so please don't try and argue that. I'd take Hakeem over him as well as Shaq. That really isn't what we are talking about though the argument is did they intentionally lose games yes I think if a core that can win a championship loses it's best player I think it is crippling not 40 games crippling.

What "Good" players did Schlenk get rid of he didn't even have the option to bring back Sap who would you have signed on minimum contracts even if you had brought him back please explain?
