  1. What do you call trading away your core that made the playoffs the year before? Had they kept JT, KG and PP they probably would have made the playoffs.
  2. Dude the Celtics won 25 games 4 years ago and now they have a super bright future!
  3. You are just wrong. There are expected to only be 5-8 teams that even have cap space so you will not have to over pay for anyone. http://hoopshype.com/2017/09/14/only-five-nba-teams-project-to-have-cap-space-for-2018-offseason/ I could see some very cheap FA coming here. Besides you think DMC cared if the hawks had a winning culture he was a low end role player for Utah and was offered more minutes in Atlanta obviously you make that move same with Sap if you remember Utah had Kanter, Al Jefferson, Favors, and Sap so moving on to a team where you don't have to look over your shoulder made since.
  4. Um other teams have done it. The only reason I think being bad this season was the best option is Sap neutralized cap space that could be used to acquire assets rather through trade or FA that make us better long term than an over the hill PF. There was no way to improve that team with him taking a third of the cap.
  5. Who has said that it is guaranteed?
  6. I'm not saying big names closer to lottery tickets ala Sap and DMC.
  7. I have said multiple times I am looking for us to make the best use of the valuable assets we have. Dwight at 23+ million no matter how you draw it up is not a player worth that much especially to a hawks team that wouldn't have cap space had we kept him. I am going to agree with you it was a stupid trade IF the cap space is used unwisely this offseason, however I will be surprised if Schlenk made the trade without specific offseason moves in mind.
  8. I never did. I only said the contract doesn't match the production. In today's NBA he can't finish big games. he is only an asset at 8-12 million imo.
  9. More so than Kemba Walker their all star? They have had a terrible year lol why keep him other than you can't get rid of him.
  10. IMO it is clear Schlenk is not just trying to tank because I don't think Dwight leads to wins (Charlotte is great right). He opened up cap space to go after a free agent class that won't have many players.
  11. Then why don't you see a team in Charlotte who desperately needs cap relief moving on from him for better assets???? The Hornets were using Kemba as trade bait to take some of the cap away! Nobody wants Dwight Howard making 20+ million a year. Plumlee's contract is significantly less per year. We shed 12+ million in the trade for this coming off-season.
  12. This is why you aren't an NBA GM. You give up minimal asset of 31st-41st to gain the asset of cap space this coming offseason. No one was going to give you positive value for Dwight Howard for 20+ million a year for 3 years.
  13. After that group I like Bridges but I would say the Celtics won 25 games like 5 years ago because Ainge traded away his core for draft picks lol. Which is exactly what we should have done last year for Sap.
  14. I like Bridges but you can't even consider him in the top 7 imo. Doncic, Ayton, Porter jr, JJJ, Bamba, Young, Bagley
  15. You don't Land Lebron without Wade. You don't land KD without Steph and Klay. So really it is the biggest market in the NBA and an anomaly. Iggy was finals mvp for allowing lebron to average more pts, rbd, ass, steals, and blocks than any other player lol.
  16. Sap isn't an asset at 30 million a year you let him walk because you can't get capital from him anymore and his contract doesn't make since. how do you make a 30+ million dollar contract work in trades? Had you signed him this coming offseason we would be over the cap and had no money this offseason to improve from a team that probably wouldn't have made the playoffs anyway. Comparing Sap to David Robinson is laughable. They won 59 games the year before not 41 and didn't have a negative plus minus lol. At 30 million Sap is 100% not a tradable asset. So um what else has he done....
  17. What exactly did Schlenk get rid of besides over paying a PF that may have helped compete for an 8 seed and would have had 0 traded value because of the size of the contract? Signing Sap would have negated our opportunity to hit FA this off-season and see if we can find a Paul Millsap for 10 million a DMC for 2.5 million like Ferry did.
  18. lol hate to break it to you he is plummeting down draft boards. He doesn't fit the hawks (or the nba game for that matter) at all either he isn't a center and can't protect the rim and neither can Collins so good luck playing them together. I think Collins can be a future all star I like Bagley as a prospect please not ATL I'd rather have Ayton, Doncic, JJJ, Bamba, Porter, Young over him. If somehow we are picking 7th (it is scary possible) I'd be cool with Bagley.
  19. Young definitely has a green light as soon as he crosses half court. I could see him infuriating Bud at times (Which maybe really funny to watch). I don't think Bud would like the pick if we took him especially in the top 5. He just is way to ball dominant for Bud's system imo but I've been wrong about prospects before. It isn't even the player either I really like him, but something about a guard who has to have the ball in his hands all the time to be effective doesn't rub me well and idk how well it produces championships. It will come down to him on the offensive side of the ball because the athleticism and frame aren't there to ever be more than an average defender.
  20. I'm not knocking Trae Young just the offense is running through him wherever he goes and he will dominate the ball there. It is just the type of player he is and tbh that is what you are drafting if you select him.
  21. Assists are inflated due to the usage rate lol.
  22. I buy it he is a 75% ft shooter. If he wasn't a good ft shooter it is cause for concern that maybe the shot isn't real, but it goes in consistently at the line so I think he will just keep getting that shot better.
  23. Funny coming from a guy that is super high on Young that has one of (he maybe #1) usages rates of all time in college basketball.
  24. So the hawks are going to have 20-30 million in cap space this offseason it looks like barring trades (I would be surprised if trades don't come but we will see this offseason). Who are some of the guys you all want the Hawks to target? I'm thinking guys like Seth Curry, Mario Hezonja, Jerami Grant, etc that maybe a fresh start may show they have another gear with a chip on their shoulder.
  25. Helps to inherit a guy that blew up in Lowry and lottery pick in Demar DeRozan continued to improve too lol.
