Arbitrary numbers?   They are hardly arbitrary.

Tell me, what team has stripped itself down intentionally and has not had multiple losing seasons?

5 in the east maybe unrealistic lol it's bad.

A power forward that can’t space the floor and absolutely can’t defend his position because he is clueless on defense.

JJJ is by far the best interior defender in this draft.  He has not rim protection ability and switch ability.  His defensive BPM is much higher than Bagley’s and Ayton’s.

Being the 5th leading scorer on your college team is scary though. He's been 3/17 from 3 the last 6 games which is one quality I'm worried about at the next level that flourished in college for most the year. Idk if he has a very high offensive ceiling.

Do you think Dedmon and Muscala will opt out after this season ? they were both injured for a longer period of time so I don't see it coming. Who do you draft with those 3 picks in the 20-33 range? You don't need a Big if you get Ayton and Dedmon/Muscala stay. One long wing, maybe a PG (?)

    Dedmon yes Moose no

It’s simple.  This team has been stripped down by Travis Schlenk.  This is the worst roster in the entire league.  It’s an expansion level roster.

The player that will be added with this top pick you covet is at least 3 years away from making any kind of impact on winning.

There are no vets that can show the youth that will be added how to win.

Ugh how can you predict this offseason. We have been over this :banghead: You just can't accept you are wrong. Also 5 just turned into 3 which I'm okay with.

Why shouldn’t I be mad when they chose the path that will only make the team worse and guarantees 5 years of losing?

please explain how it guarantees 5 years of losing the longest drought of not being in the playoffs is 5 years (76ers and Magic) thats it... I disagree that it guarantee's 5 years of losing because if you go back and look there was 0 talent on any of those teams (they literally got rid of anyone who showed promise) and I don't see the hawks doing that... Collins was literally told he was untouchable (obviously barring a trade for a superstar I'd guess).

Right now, I'm not for development over pick.  I want the Hawks to get the best pick possible.  However, I do agree with KB that this is a multiyear process (the way that it was done).  We have gone from Mediocrity and we're going to mediocrity however, now, it's going to be a longterm climb back to mediocrity.

how long do you think longterm is 3-5 years?

Yes.  If we had the 8th pick and got Mikal Bridges, he is a player that will have an earlier impact than most of the guys who will go at the top of the draft.  I don’t want to wait 4-5 years on a player to mature.

Winning out would mean more for the development of John Collins and Taurean Prince than getting the number one pick would mean for their development.  Players don’t develop properly in a losing environment.

Also, the decision they made this off season wasn’t to accept a losing season.  It was to accept multiple losing seasons.

Prince has scored his career high twice on 50% or better shooting in both cases in a 4 game stretch and they lost all 4 games is that him not improving in a "losing environment".

It is time to conclude that Prince might be a reliable #2 in this league...There should be no questions about his shooting ability and now he is seeing the court better.  Looks like a keeper to me.

I agree unless AD is available and you are able to clear enough cap to recruit other guys to play with him. AD would run through the east.

Doncic is a 2 or a 3. He will be fine with Dennis.  The problem with Dennis is he hasn't shown the ability to play off the ball. Maybe he can but he hasn't shown it.  I believe he can improve his three point shooting. Lord knows he needs to improve his defense.  I think Dennis has the ability to be a pass first point guard on a very good team.

That is my point Doncic seems to be able to play off the ball but best fit is as a point forward ala Lebron (not saying he is just how he plays) which imo is best having guys that can spot up as a 1 similar to how Kyrie and a lesser extent George Hill play with the ability to spot up off ball which idk if Dennis can do with a below average 3pt shot.

I don't think you guys realize how hard this rebuild will be without Dennis.  He's at a minimum a league average point guard.  Unless you're replacing him with an average vet, then this rebuild will go south really quick.

I'm all for bringing in an older guy with Doncic who is a primary ball handler. If Doncic is brought in I don't see the fit with Schröder he just isn't a great shooter.

No sir!  Ankle injuries happen all the time in basketball. You want these players to develop and if they start winning games, you don't stop it because it can carry over to next season.  I'd hate to lose draft position, but as long as the young guys are the result of the Hawks winning, I'll take it.   Looking at the last few games of the season, the Hawks may have 1 win on their schedule anyway.  They are playing nothing but playoff teams except Sacramento from this point on.

I see 2(Kings and Magic) and us winning an extra game or 2 leaving us at 22-24 wins. Want Prince and Collins still getting minutes don't want wins though.

What league are you thinking about?  The salary cap isn't 60 million anymore.  It's 100 million.

Yup Ik I also know Lou Williams signed 3yrs 24 million and no teams have cap space. 12-15 million is about a 6th of the cap when Sap signed originally he signed for a 6th of the cap less actually.

    We agree on something.

Give me Derrick Favors on his third contract instead.

If Favors will come at 3yrs 40-45 mill bring him in he is a little more comfortable playing center too. I worry if he will accept being a full time center though. FWIW if Sap would have signed 3yrs 40-45 mill too I would have been happy to bring him back.

Honestly, in today's NBA . . . 15 million per for a productive starter, is pretty decent.  And Randle is close, if not already a top 10 true PF in the NBA.

These are the types of signings I was talking about. I wouldn't mind 3yrs $40 mill for him that is a very manageable contract that can be moved should an experiment of playing with collins not work.

And I'm saying that the Heat didn't get rid of all of their assets in order to get Wade.   So that when it came time to go after Shaq.. they had Assets to trade.

The game is not 1 players wins.. the game is collect enough assets to have a team that wins.

And I'm saying Sap and Dwight on their current contracts aren't tradable assets.

  16. I'll clear this up. This comes from the Palm beach post. "Shaq’s fourth and final title came two years after he joined the Heat in 2004. While Shaq and Wade had All-Star seasons, Wade was better during the regular season and clearly  was The Man in the Finals." Shaq averaged 13 ppg in the finals KB is just wrong but whatever.
