Just throwing this out there for discussion. I know LaVine didn't have a great year, but a lot of that had to do with his foot injury. He's still only 29. I know his defense isn't great, but if we can add Herb Jones and Sarr/Clingan, our defense vastly improves. When we had elite 4/5 defense in our playoff run with JC/Cap, we did alright even with a Trae/Bogi/Huerter backcourt.
PG: Trae / Kobe / Daniels
SG: LaVine / Bogi / Mathews
SF: Jones / Vit / Griffin
PF: JJ / Mo G / Bey
C : Cap / Sarr / Bruno -

Hawks seem to be leaning to trying to come out of the draft with Risacher and Clingan.
Hawks completely overthinking and making something more difficult than it needs to be...sounds about right -

If they balk at that, good luck to them finding another team who’s going to give them an allstar caliber PG and a good quality starting Center for Brandon Ingram.

And the Hawks aren't going to take back trash and a couple of mid-late firsts either.
If they find a middle ground, it will likely be something like Dyson Daniels + Ingram for DJ + Hunter and then negotiate the draft capital.
Agreed - Herb is probably off limits for them.
But Ingram at $50M per year is not good value (there's a reason they want him gone), and Dyson Daniels couldn't even see the court against the Thunder. Everyone wants to talk about his defense, but he played 18 total minutes in a playoff series against SGA. And a lot of those 18 minutes were in garbage time.
Hawks should look elsewhere to move DJM if Herb isn't included.

Some of y'all really didn't learn your lesson 1 year ago with KAT, huh?

Something like this -
BKN's pick #5 is actually with the Knicks this year, but was protected. So just imagine #5 being in place of the 2025 Detroit Round 1 above.
And I don't think we should have to include the Sac pick because DJM for Bridges is fair...but it's freaking BKN so it'll have to be an overpay.

Now this is how you use a pick acquired for Murray to improve the team. Not adding another rookie.
Yeah I just don't think there are going to be many of these opportunities out there.

Mikal would fit perfectly on the wing. BKN just has a tendency to overvalue their players. However, stats say Dejounte is the better player:
I saw a rumor on here yesterday that Detroit was interested in DJM for Ivey + 5. Not sure if that's true...but if a top 10 team wanted DJM, send those assets to BKN for Bridges in a 3-team.

We better be the first team to call if Bridges becomes available.
Was at the game this last season where he dropped 45 on us. We could not stop him in the 4th. Everyone knew he was getting the ball and he just kept scoring.

I’d rather get a top 10 pick and use it on Knecht or Holland (or whoever we identify as a good fit next to Trae) than the crap offers we’ve seen rumored from LAL or NYK.
KAT, JB, MPJ…these guys aren’t walking through the door for Murray. Ingram? Maybe, but I wouldn’t want to pay him $50M a year.
The verdict is already out that Trae and DJM are a negative together on the floor so something has to change there. And I’d rather build around a top 5 or 10 pick rookie than Rui and some crappy future late firsts.

Draft Sarr at #1 then trade to get back in the top 8 to take Knecht.
Yup that’s where I’m at. You get the best defender in the draft and probably the best offensive player (also most NBA ready). Both near perfect fits next to Trae.

Trae Bogi not gonna work defensively...
That Team is small as hell too....
Looks like a play-in team if that....

ECF with a Trae / Bogi / Huerter backcourt but y’all go on…
Sarr in that scenario will greatly improve our D. And we’d still have Hunter who’d be giving you 30+ mins a night for defense. But you’d have great shooting on the court at all times with Knecht or Bogi. Trae always has an elite shooter next to him.

Sarr and Knecht
Knecht at 23 will be NBA ready day 1. Trae was at his best with the spacing of Huerter and Bogi next to him on the wings. And don’t forget -
Trae / Bogi / Knecht / JJ / OO
Bufkin / AJ / Hunter / Mo G / Sarr
Resign Bey

I don’t necessarily believe Luka would have stayed overseas rather than play in ATL…but I’m going to choose to believe it because that’s less painful to think about.

Man Mikal Bridges would be nice. I’d trade anyone not named Trae/JJ/Sarr for him. Just don’t think we have the capital to do it compared to other teams who’d be calling.

Mobley is the Cavs Center of the future. Any trade with them probably has to start with Jalen Johnson. Imagine they'd want a SG in return too so probably Bogi. Cleveland is in a similar position as us with another team owning all their picks, so they need to stay competitive.
They'll also assuredly want picks back as well.
Edit: Mitchell has a player option after next season so very very risky for any team who trades for him.- 1

Yeah because the Trae + DJM pairing worked so well let’s go even smaller!

Maybe. But I also think they covet both DJM and OO. BI and Daniels isn’t getting them that return.

I was talking to a Pelicans fan on Reddit. They’re pretty down on how BI was playing and definitely want him moved to make room for Murphy to take over the 3. Kind of implied his value is relatively low right now from their fan perspective.
But I asked how untouchable they view Herb and his response was he wouldn’t like trading him, but understands you gotta give something good to get something good.
All of that to say Herb might not be out of reach. DJM + OO for BI + Herb works straight up salary wise. While I’m intrigued by a JJ / OO / Sarr front court, JJ at the 4 and Sarr at the 5 is probably the ideal long term pairing.

That’s fair. I’d probably agree with that.
