Possible.  I wanted Porzo too so I'm not fightin the feelin'.  I just think league politics and backroom deals would've killed us there.

I hear ya. It’s just frustrating to hear we might be “buyers” now when 2 guys who would’ve fit perfectly with Trae were right there for the taking and we didn’t jump…or didn’t jump hard enough.

So that to me is why pinning hope on us finding another star is foolish when we can't even get these second tier players to come here.

This isn’t true though. DJM wanted to be here and we also got the biggest name coach on the market here.

Not that simple.  Remember Porzi agreed to re-sign in BOS which is the main reason that trade even happened.  It's not "just the deal".

It’s an unknown for sure. But I don’t think he would have been unwilling since it meant getting out of a Washington rebuild.

He’s not KD. He doesn’t just get to pick where he wants to go.

Disagree unless we could fool BOS into taking Capela.

Huh? This was the trade for Porzingis to Boston before the Brogdon injury blew it up. We could have beat this in our sleep.

We never had the assets for any of them.  No need to lose sleep over it at this point.

We definitely had the assets to get KP who’s playing like an allstar and would have fixed a lot of our front court issues.

I think we could have beat this for OG:

    - RJ Barrett

    -Immanuel Quickley

    - 2024 second-round draft pick (via Detroit)

  6. This whole not really doing anything to upgrade the roster and fielding a near .500 whatever team is literally getting us nowhere (except the play-in).

    Play-in champs bay bay!

  7. I really want AJ to succeed here. Something is just off with the whole situation which makes me believe back office politics are involved and I don’t like that. He showed way too much potential last season.

But if Quin isn’t going to play him and Grimes takes the Mathews/Matthews/Mills minutes than I guess that’s good. Improves the defense at lease which we desperately need.

  8. Sounds just like something BKN would put out there to try and lower DJM’s value. He’d be perfect next to Bridges and they desperately need to add someone.

Otherwise, they’re better just blowing it up, but they won’t in that market.

I hope we make a play for defense by the deadline and and if Bey and Cap aren't in our plans after this season....get something for them.

Grimes to ATL gaining a ton of steam

This checks my first box...I like it. Claxton is also someone I have my eye on that I believe would be an ideal fit this deadline.

I'm guessing a Griffin for Grimes swap?

The remaining trade deadline activity, to this point, is expected to focus on nearby cities Atlanta and Charlotte. The Hawks continue to be described by rival executives as the most active and aggressive team in the marketplace, motivated to discuss the majority of its veteran players, highlighted by All-Star guard Dejounte Murray — arguably the best player known to be available. Elsewhere on the roster, Atlanta has held its most notable discussions on Clint Capela, De’Andre Hunter and AJ Griffin, according to league sources, dating back to the offseason. It’s become clear that Atlanta values Sixth Man of the Year candidate Bogdan Bogdanovic as highly as any player on its roster not named Trae Young and Jalen Johnson, according to league sources.

Karl-Anthony Towns isn’t up for grabs in Minnesota, either, according to league personnel.

Portland has been consistent that it has no intention of moving Jerami Grant, sources said, while rival personnel have also been expressing an increasing skepticism that the Blazers will part with veteran point guard Malcolm Brogdon.

    FYI:

With the 24-year-old drawing sticky observations around league circles about his forthcoming free agency status, Scotto pointed out that Claxton's projected salary heading into free agency is $21 million per year, in courtesy of the estimation made by 12 anonymous league executives.

I'd fork up the extra ~$5M per year for his size and move Okongwu.
