I'm sure the coaching staff has talk with Trae about this for years

Prove it, there's no indication Nate or LP ever tried getting Trae to move off the ball

Steph does it effortlessly and nonstop

Who's passing the ball to Trae after he runs around? Also, they play totally separately so why compare them? Compare Trae to other ball dominant guards like Harden and Luka.

LP told Trae to stop the logo shot but they continued

LP didn't like that shot, but where did he ever say he told Trae to stop shooting it?

Lotta assumptions being made with not much bball thought put into them 😕

A Trae-KAT pick n roll would be impossible to stop.

TBF, no one is stopping a Trae x insert_anyone PNR already - we are consistently one of the top offenses in the league even with the personnel we have.

Siakam would diversify our offense a lot more than Kat, and JB would help out on both sides of the court in a great way.

Maybe I'm underrating KAT, but I'd rather have Siakam or JB easily seeing how they're both better defensively and help our offense in more ways than I think KAT could regardless of his historic shooting numbers at his position

You need to be talking to Peo not me... Hes the one that brought up the EFG stuff for whatever reason..

Ahh, was just responding to the last stats I saw to provide some context for why our guard's EFG was lower than expected

@Peoriabird, if we get rid of CC and add more shooting and playmaking from our front court I think everyone's efficiency is bound to go up.

Tough to judge when our players had Nate not putting them in the best position to succeed

Nah, it will most likely be an indication that the same a** posters chime in with the same a** concerns literally every year and pretend it's some new a** sh*t.

That's not aimed at you MH.  I'm just sick of the same ol', lame ol' posters posting negative a** sh*t and pretending they're actually paying attention even though we all know they're not.  They're just complainers.  The sh*t is tiresome.

Just gotta laugh it off Cagey, ppl gonna be how they are lol

It's nice though seeing a timeline of people's opinions change over time, imagine how fun it'll be when Supes says Trae is the Hawks goat in 15 years after he brings us a couple of chips 😛 (no shots Supes, just jokin around :))

    Probably not

But Trae has been above 50% EFG twice. His 2nd and 4th season(ECF year), and 49.9% in another. So he wont be below 50% every year.. Hopefully..

Yall seen this ? Hawks had literally the worst spacing in the league for our guards to operate with - tough to be efficient when you have to take hard shots cause your teammates aren't applying pressure when they have the ball

  6. I like hot take posts cause they can introduce you to new ideas you never would've thought of, but not acknowledging a hot take and pretending it's legitimate discussion can be annoying depending on hot the take is - saw Trae ranked 55th on some randos top 100 list and that's so stupid it's not even worth talking about right.

But I'll say Trae winning a couple of chips in Atlanta will put him firmly in the top 3 all time pg list behind Magic and Curry, at minimum he'll end his career a top 10 pg in the HoF ahead of guys like Steve Nash and Stockton.

Also, idk if this is a hot take, but with Quin at the helm I think we win at least 50 games with a good chance to hit 55.

We lost a lot of dumb coin flip games last year, so lets pretend we win those cause we'll be more locked in, Trae has more dad powers, and Jalen wins MIP. Going to vegas and putting money on our win over no matter what it is,

    The best possession by possession

Haven't read your Horford posts enough, what proves this?

    2 hours ago, NBASupes said:

Does more for winning than anyone in Atlanta's history

Trae has lead a worse team to the ECF and managed to not get swept while putting up historical performances - Al hasn't

Al also has a worse playoff win % than Trae, so not sure how he's the most winningest in any meaningful sense

    The most versatile

How has this lead to us winning and getting deep into the playoffs?

Also, how would you even judge this, versatile is too vague.

A jack of all trades who isn't peak at any of them doesn't take you as far as an offensive savant, even if you're more balanced on both ends of the floor

Most actions you can run for him on offense

Ok, and how has this led to him amassing results for himself or his time with the Hawks?

Trae is a whole offense unto himself, is a superior quality than being able to have actions run for you in my opinion

    2 hours ago, NBASupes said:

He's nothing like that but when you have him on your team, everyone else job is a lot easier due to him

Sounds like Al is above average at a lot of things, not elite at anything compared to people in the top 50- top 75.

It's great when you're able to make your teammates life easier, but outside of this emotional argument you have about how you have to be smart to understand Al's impact and that only smart people can see his value is asinine.

There is 0 time in NBA history where a top 10 NBA handn't established themselves as such through their dominance on the court either in the regular season or the playoffs, real life ain't a tv show where someone can just affect winning so hard but no one notices cause of plot armor.

idk man, I been writing and deleting things but this is wild.

I've seen how you respond to al posts enough so imma chill, but it's honestly pretty cool how you have an opinion totally unique to yourself 😜

Sure coaches encourage players to run certain plays but we have witnessed Trae young for 5 years now so we should not be confused by what I established with players.  There should be no doubt in anybody's minds that Trae young does not follow some script especially in the 4 quarter of games.

Can't compare how a superstar plays vs a role player. Trae makes plays and sets things up using his IQ and shot selection, the rest of the team needs to take advantage by using their skills on offense like shooting/cutting/rolling whatever.

Saddiq most definitely is being told where to run and take shots by the coach so that Trae can set him up for easier shots than he was getting in Detroit.

Also, pretty reductive to say coaches just encourage players to run certain plays - we saw almost immediately Quin put an emphasis on shooting more 3's and so our # of 3's per game went up by a lot.

That wasn't players deciding they wanted to start shooting more 3's out of nowhere

Its still up to the player to decide when and where to take his shots which isn't team dependent.  Shot selection is specific to the player and he decides where he likes to take his shots and where he moves to receive the ball.  If the player doesn't feel he can make a shot efficiently from a certain spot on the floor or he feel like the defense can influence his shot, he doesn't have to take the shot.  So it he took more corner threes in Atlanta, it was him choosing to do so simple plain and simple.  I'm pretty sure Detroit was not discouraging him from taking corner 3's.

These players aren't on the court doing whatever they want, they listen to the coaches gameplan on how to play. Saddiq isn't taking more corner threes out of nowhere, it's a shot our team wants to take, so Quin puts the team in positions to take higher quality shots.

Saddiq didn't just wake up and decide he would start shooting more corner threes lol

Oh no doubt I have no choice and I hardly ever question a starter but I had to speak up this time. I hope I am dead wrong and you guys are all right.

I can see how Quin would go with an inferior or mediocre starter the way he did in Utah with Royce O.

I also hope you are dead wrong 🙏🏽😜
