    Starbury?

I have said it over and over.....we need to trade Harrington for Jamal Magloire .

    David Andersen

No word on him for some time. I am guessing that he is the fall back guy for us if we can't add a Center in FA. As some of you know, I want us to trade Harrington for Magloire. If we do nothing else, I would be OK with the offseason.
  3. Quote: Right. Who is Chris Vining and I don't care what he has to say. He will be another band wagon fan when the Hawks become a major force in the NBA.... Chris Vining is a nobody. However, he wants to be a somebody, so make some outrageous critiques of a team that is down in the dumps. That way, if you are wrong, few people notice. If you are right, you are an instant genius. Ignore the idiot. We have a winner in Marvin.
  4. Let's see. We are light on PG's and C's and we are heavy on F's. According to the draft rumor, we will trade away a cheap, talented PG that can score from anywhere on the court for an often-injured 30 year old Center that will come at a big price. No.
  5. I understand the interest in Kwame from local fans, but is he really worth any risk? My understanding is that he is a 6-9 PF that has athletic skills, but has not lived up to the draft hype. Yes, he may need a change and yes, ATL would be the natural place for him to succeed. However, is he worth Al Harrington in a trade? I don't think so and I hope that BK is of the same opinion.
  6. I like the thought but "not so fast." We haven't signed anyone and we haven't won an important game yet. BK is far better than Babcock, so I have hope. Let's see what he can do for us this offseason.
  7. The Suns became contenders when Nash took over the PG position. Please educate me as to why JJ would be of great value to us as a PG?

    Contract for Curry

If Chandler is on our list of free agent hopefuls, then offering Currry a big contract could be a tactic to make signing Chandler a little bit easier.

    Contract for Curry

Questions about Curry's health have to be answered. I can not see BK dropping millions on a player that could drop dead on the court. Basketball has seen its fair share of sudden death. I am not saying that Curry is at risk for such a disaster..I don't really know his medical history. I am assuming that Billy Knight has done due dilligence. BK has to understand exactly what went wrong with Curry last season before he makes a move for him.
  10. That would be the ideal situation. If JJ is added, I expect Childress to play a lot of SF in a rotation with Marvin as well as spelling JJ at SG. Harrinton would be less needed and could be used in a sign and trade deal ( NO can offer Magloire for Harrington ).
  11. Childress was very visible during the draft process. He was seen with BK and Woodson a lot during the workouts. Although Josh Smith was also present at some workouts, Childress was more involved. I doubt that he is trade bait.
  12. Quote: The Hawks' line up of: G - Joe Johnson G - Josh Childress F - Marvin Williams F - Josh Smith C - Jamaal Magloire ; might just make the playoffs. I'd like that. Maybe Sallim instead of JJ at the point.
  13. I would target Dalembert or Magloire. A SNT would be the likely vehicle to deliver either player.
  14. Quote: This might just happen. But then again, check out the article on RealGm if you haven't seen it. "Patrick Austin/RealGM - Chad Ford of ESPN is reporting that the Knicks and Hawks are in discussions about a blockbuster trade involving Stephon Marbury and Al Harrington. Mr. Ford has been known to dream up scenerios that do not pan out, so there may not be much validity to it." From RealGM.com hehehehe!!! In my opinion, Marbury would be a major mistake. He is self-centered and plays virtually no defense. I would rather make no moves than adding a slug like Marbury to this team.
  15. Quote: that would be a steal. Can't imagine NO doing it though Mags wants out of NO. He prefers Toronto, but ATL would do if a contract extension is dangled. This is the transaction that I want to see. We get a quality Center this year. Next season, we will know better whether Salim can run the point for us. If Salim can't cut it, we can draft a PG next year...there are a couple of good ones in that draft.
  16. According to Salim's college coach, the Hawks scouted him the most He mentioned that a Hawks' scout was present very frequently to evaluate Salim. Of all the teams, the Hawks knew Salim the most.
  17. Conroy signed with the Lakers....so I hear.

    Guillermo Diaz

BTW, Diaza has very, very long arms and can play defense.

    Guillermo Diaz

Quote: He'll play point guard in the NBA much like Steve Francis. I am not a Stevie fan. If you want a true winner, make Diaz a SG and pair him with a taller PG.
  20. Just one of those things. Jack was a BK target.

    Shagari Alleyene

With Morris out of the picture, he will get his chance to mature. Let's keep an eye out for him.

    Guillermo Diaz

I saw Diaz play in Miami when the Jackets were in town. Diaz is a phenomenal player. He is a dangerous SG, but did not distribute the ball very well. He was the only player on his team, so the Jackets were able to control him effectively by putting their best defender on him (I think his name was West). The guy looks freakish when he jumps. Sort of like a lizard. He is on the ground one moment and the next, he is three feet in the air. Very impressive. He is still learning English but is making progress in that department. Diaz is a true talent, but not a PG. IF we draft him, he will be competition for Childress.
  23. Quote: This is our chance to finally fill one of our two big holes, send shock waves into the national and international FA market, and make the NBA take a little notice of the Hawks. 5 years, $61 million is the least we will have to offer IMHO. At 10% increases that starts at $10 mil a year, better than Damp last year. There's no front loading this deal to scare off the Cavs. They have $28 mil in cap space. No trading players unless Z insists upon it for more money (i.e. to agree to only 5, not 6 years). Just stare'em down and see if they blink within 7 days. I say do it! Commit to these young talented players, make the league and foreign players take notice, bring in a little more help and start making a few runs. W Are you joking? You think that we should throw away that kind of cap space on an older, often injured player? Z may have two good years left in him. The guy is 7-3 and his vertebrae are collapsing as we speak. NO WAY ! If you want to spend money, do it on Dalembert. If you want to be smart, trade Harrinton for Magloire. A fool and his money go separate ways.
  24. I have recently learned that a lot goes on behind the scenes. I am friendly with someone in the Raptors organization. He explained to me that they did not draft Channing Frye because his agent told them that Frye did not want to play for Toronto and would make things difficult if the Raptors drafted him. The Raptors did not want to go through another PR disaster like they had with Vince Carter. So, they took their #2 choice, Villanueva. What I am saying is that it is possible that Ukic pulled the same sort of deal with Atlanta. Ukic has the talent and probably would have been a good choice for the Hawks, but in the long run not the best thing for the franchise. As I read more about Salim Stoudamire, I am becoming convinced that he was a fantastic choice for us. He is an extremely tough player and I think that after a season or two, he will run the point very well. Comparisons to JT will surface, but I believe that Salim will succeed where JT failed.
