  1. Insted of letting him walk at the end of the year why not offer him 3yr/$24 mil. contract. No one else is going to get close to that number except maybe Utah. Even if he wants to go to NY $8 mil over 3 years is hard to pass up. If we keep him then this trade is a success. We saved a bunch of money and we have a top PF.
  2. Assuming JT resigns then we arent a bad team. SAR is a solid star player. He gives us scoring, rebounding and some passing. JT is a solid guard. He can score on the outside and can pass pretty well even tho most people dont realize it. Theo is a quality big man. Many call him undersized but he is a starter on 23 teams in the NBA. He is a great defender and an ok redounder and scorer. Diaw is a rookie with promise. Most people rag on him but he is a player who can be a double digit scorer and will be a player who will make good passes and help get the ball to the right person. Reminds me of Toni K. The rest: Hendu is a very good BU player who is way overpaid and could bring something back next year in a trade (ending contract). Nazr is a good BU that is a potential starter one day if he can stay healthy and develop a little more. CC is a nice BU when healthy. DD is a decent BU PG with the potential to be better. Hanson is a nice BU player who we can see if he can play on the NBA level. What we need: We need a spot shooter who has decent handles to play SG. DJ would be nice if we sign him and he can develop into this player.
  3. This isnt a bad deal for us. It keeps us from paying the lux tax in the next 2 years and we get a young guy as well as a 1st round pick. I would like to know what the restrictions on it are tho. The second round pick we gave back isnt anything to get upset about.
  4. A new buyer will take the same amount of time to to complete it so it will be another 2-3 months at least. The sale of the teams isnt holding this up its Phillips Arena thats taking so long.
  5. The arena is whats holding everything up you have to get every sponser for the teams and the arena to agree to everything and lawyers have to nit pik. From what im hearing the deal is done and its now the lawyers making sure its all worded right.
  6. Thats a lot of money for a player who is coming off a major injury and hasnt done much of anything in the NBA
  7. You keep talking about JT getting 8-10 mil a year but the market says he wont. Miller will get around 5-7 and Arenas will likely get 4.5-6.5 mil a year and JT isnt even being talked about in the same breth as these two. my guess is that he signs a one year deal and trys again next year.
  8. Its simple he wanted DJ to go somewhere that he could get playing time. we have our two picks and dan as the main backcourt for the summer league and DJ wouldnt get hardly any PT b/c we want to get a look/develop these guys
  9. Dion has been getting his minutes most nights. Against LA he couldnt handle Kobe on the D end so he didnt play much. Also you have to remember he is still recovering from another injury.
  10. They have beaten teams they should have beaten. The best team they played was NJ and lost by 11. They have only played 2 road games and the other one was a Mia who is bad. So far they have done what they should have done, nothing more. The Mil game last night showed some major weaknesses in the team. They also have the advantage of having basicly the same team as last year which is always good for a few extra wins in the begining if its a good team. Lets hold off on the Isiah is great theme until atleast the all star break.
  11. Last year DJ really helped the team esp in the second half. This year he would have been VERY important to this team. Alexander was actually drafted by Dal in the middle of the draft. Alexander was shipped out of Was b/c of poor play and a bad tude.
  12. A few more performances like that and Lenny will be deported. How in the world do you only score 6 freakin points in a quater? Looks like it really could be Lennys last year as a head coach.
  13. Alexander hasn't been able to hold down a starting job yet. His numbers are very average for his carrer. Dont even get me started on his lousy D. He would have not been the answer either. There is a reason he has been traded twice already for for a few basketballs and a case of Sprite.
  14. If he keeps this kind of production up he might just win MVP. Alot of this kind of discussion is dependent on our record.
  15. The way things worked out it looks like we will have little to show for our #6 pick, however its not Babs fault. DJ was looking really good coming into this year and a freak accident prob ended his career. Looking back at the draft Babs made a good pick, it was just a really weak draft.
  16. Hawks' Johnson hurt in car wreck From staff reports Atlanta Hawks forward DerMarr Johnson was injured in a fiery car crash early today and transferred from Southwest Hospital to Grady Memorial Hospital, police said. Fulton County Police Maj. Wenda Phifter said Johnson and one other person in the car sustained injuries in the accident. It happened around 5:30 a.m. Phifer said three people were in the car which burst into flames at the time of the wreck. Johnson, 22, was a first round pick of the Hawks in 2000, the sixth choice overall even though he played just one year of college basketball at Cincinnati. He played little his rookie year, but began to get more playing time later in his second pro season. A 6-9 small forward, he started 46 games last year and averaged 8.4 points a game. As a rookie, Johnson started 21 games and averaged 5.1 point.
  17. Hawks Johnson Hurt in Fiery Car Wreck Atlanta Hawk DerMarr Johnson was one of three people riding in the car when it wrecked in Fulton County. E-mail This Article to Someone • Local News • Health • Education Web Editor: Sean Rowe Last Modified: 9/13/2002 9:02:51 AM Atlanta Hawk DerMarr Johnson was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital Friday after being injured in a fiery car accident in Fulton County. Johnson and one other person in the car suffered serious injuries, according to Fulton police Maj. M.J. Wenda Phifer. The incident happened at Kimberly and Fairburn roads, near Cascade Road, in southwest Fulton. It's not yet known what exactly led to the accident, however Maj. Phifer said three people were in the car which burst into flames at the time of the wreck. The 6-foot-9-inch, 201-lb. forward has played in 158 games during his two seasons with the Hawks. He attended the University of Cincinnati, where he played on the Bearcats basketball team before entering the NBA. While at Cincinnati, Johnson earned Conference USA Freshman of the Year and Third Team All-Conference USA honors.
  18. Horry is the man in the clutch. When Hou won its 2 championships the Dream lead the way for most of the game but when it was on the line it was always Horry who hit the big shots. There is a reason he is a major component of championship teams and its because in the 4th he is nothing but money.
  19. Here is some proof for you he played with a dislocated shoulder in a playoff game to help the team win. A sever dislocation is about the most painful thing you can do to your shoulder, and I'd bet 98% of the players in the NBA wouldn't have played and the team be damned.
  20. Deke will really show his age in NJ. I actually expect him to get hurt this year and miss a lot of time. He has really lost a step. Babs moved him at the right time.
  21. If there is one thing Babs does well its trade. He isnt going to trade JT away foolishly, if he trades him. His worst trade was the Smith trade and in the end it worked well b/c it got his contract off the books and we gained cap space used to further the team. If we trade JT it will be for an established player who is entering his prime, not a washed up player who is winding down (Payton)
  22. CC is out until atleast Oct and prob longr so that should open up a spot for a little while at least. While Babs might not want to hide a player I think he would let CC have a little extra time to get back into shape
  23. 1) The players seem to respect Lon and they want to play for him. That is a good sign, hopefully we will have a O'Brian effect. 2)Theo has shown he wants to be here and play. The only remaining question is can he stay healthy all year? 3)At the end of last year people found heir defined roles. This year the only spot that will be up for grabs is SG with DJ and Glover battling it out. The rest of the battles will be for BU minutes. 4)I think BD will welcome this team because he can be himself and the weight of expectations is shared by the whole team and not just him.
  24. How are we doing on funds and such? Also is there still a bandwidth problem? If things start to look bad again just let us know and we will do all we can!
  25. Mil is taking on a HUGE risk. TT hasnt shown that much and is more than likely a bust, esp for the money he is making. The little bit that MIL is saving can easily be lost if they fail to make the playoffs. Overall this trade really weakens the Bucks. They should have done whatever possible to get a C or a dominate PF. That is there problem and it will show over the next couple of years.
