  1. Because as bad as smoove may be beat by smaller 3's, at least he recovers and blocks their shot. Al has absolutely no chance against smaller 3's
  2. Quote: THe results of this poll show you that half the people here focus on one aspect of something without looking at the other angles. The reason Al didn't get moved at the deadline is because we did not get ANY good offers. Of all the possible deals I saw posted here, I did not see one that I considered a good move for us. We were basically swapping expiring contracts, taking on injured players or getting late 1st round draft picks. NOne of which helps us. Just letting him walk is not what I would call ideal. But if we can't get a starting caliber C, PF or PG, we should not make a deal. When I say starting caliber, I mean one that was starting THIS season. Not a guy like Nene who has hardly played in two years. Not young unproven talent. And not late draft picks. Remember, 1st round picks are guaranteed money. If we trade for two first round picks that are late picks. We're stuck paying guys who probably will not play much for us. We need guys who can contribute immediately and guys who know the pro game. LIke I said, letting him walk is not ideal. But it's not failure by any stretch. We get our cap back and we're not stuck paying MORE young players who won't play. What we are questioning is Billy Knights assessment of what "Good Players" are. Everyone on BK's side is assuming that he rejected "Bad" offers for AL. For all we know he could have been offered Franchise, AI, Nene, Watson, who knows? But since I have little confidence in Knight's judgment in the first place, the fact that he made no moves makes me suspect that he rejected what to competent people would be good deals.
  3. I was looking at Josh's stats and he is currently 5th in the league in blocked shots and 7 in BPG at 2.4. He currently is behind AK-47 in blocks as a forward. Is it possible that if he continues on his current tear and raises his BPG to over 2.5 that he could steal a second team all defensive slot from say a Bruce Bowen..whose defensive prowess this year is more reputational than statistical. The biggest barrier would probably be that the Hawks record stinks and we give up a lot of PPG. But if they based it on individual play, he should have a shot. I mean there are few in the league who can alter people's offensive game as Smoove can. Especially at crunch time.
  4. Detroit here he comes.

    Delk

No we have just waived Delk. What are we going to do for the next 2 games, Let Ivey play 48 minutes? We couldn't put him on the floor for 10 minutes to see if he had anything left? Genius.
  6. That is because he realizes that he has no coach, no GM, and too many owners.
  7. Yeah all that defense and intensity would be a real bad influence on the young folk.
  8. I have verified by IP address that Dr. Zach is really Richard Simmons...no wonder he likes to circle jerk.
  9. Quote: Maybe it was only a mystery to me, but it's quite obvious that TheArtist is JohnnyBravo.TheArtist registered exactly 45 minutes after JohnnyBravo's most recent (final?) post. In a previous thread, talking about satellite TV service, JohnnyBravo mentioned that he 'got tired of the traffic so he moved 3 blocks from Philips Arena.' In another recent thread, TheArtist mentioned that he lives at the William-Oliver building, which is 3 blocks from Philips Arena. Also, I've noticed that both TheArtist and JohnnyBravo share similar writing styles. Both censor curse words with a single asterisk, and both use the double ellipses.Thoughts, anyone? Is my detectivework sound? Looking at old posts I am insulted that you would compare met with that Hawks apologist, JohnnyBravo. I mean, he thinks that Salim is better than Ben Gordon. He thinks JJ should be an MVP candidate...please, I am much more lucid than that. Although I do share his passion and enthusiasm.Nice try Magnum P.I. but this isn't a Andy Kaufman, Tony Clifton redux...I am not Johnny Bravo.
  10. Quote: You can't say we're inconsistent when - if you turned our record around - we'd be consistent winners. We have a good ways to go to being inconsistent (win one night lose the next). As it is we are one of the most consistent teams in the league as far as losing goes. Bill Parcels said it best: "you are what your record says you are" Our hopes of going from 13 wins last year to 25-30 wins this year is the NFL equivalent of going from 2-14 to 5-11 and getting all excited, who cares. Maybe next year...IMHO Here, Here

I was raised in Decatur, nearly everyone in my highschool, neighborhood, church are Atlanta born. Atlanta born, Decatur bred and when I die I will be Lithonia Dead. Alpharetta? I live in Atlanta.. I can see the exterior tv screen on the Phil from my roof. You live in Dectaur? So does my lesbian mom! Actually I live off of Marietta Street in the William Oliver building. Hmm, are those for sale now, or still rent only? I looked when they were rentals, and didn't really dig the 'we ripped the drop ceilings out to make fake lofts' look. I'm right up the street in the Giant, btw. Philips is about at the midway point between our residences.. I think you might have about 50' on me. I guess you're more of a fan than I am Oh I guess you live over there in "Midtown West". I hope you can sleep with that damn train going by every nite. You are close to my favorite strip club however "Dancers Elite".
  12. Quote: Quote: sometime. It would be fun to watch a game with a fellow Squawker from time to time. Sounds good, but is it possible to request tickets for a certain seat? I am assuming you have season tickets for the same seats, so can I just call up ticketmaster or the box office and say "Hey, put me in seat on row in Section 119?" Just call and say "Hey I need some seats for the BK Circle Jerk section.." Then they will say, oh yeah, the Las car section. That way when they do the Metro PCS kiss cam they can see you all go F*ck yourselves.

  14. Quote: I been a Hawks fan since 1977. This has been a mismanaged franchise over the last 10 years. Just want to see the franchise be successful. They dont have the impetus to manage better because they feel any consequences from the apathetic fan base.
  15. He bitched because in the last game, where we were down by 3 points, we had JJ, Marvin, Childrss, Smoove and Al on the floor..our 3 point gunner was on the bench....absolute genius!
  16. Yeah so you all can circle jerk with Billy Knight.
  17. Quote: If Sweetney is worth a damn, why is CHI trying to trade Al for him in the first place? I applaund BK for not getting impatient and trading Al for nothing. He was able to get Al in the first place by sign and trading Jax a couple of seasons ago when Jax was unrestricted. No reason he shouldn't be able to make a similar move with Al this offseason. As for NY, you are joking right? They have a coach who is widely considered to be the best in the business, the league's highest payroll BY FAR and they have the league's worst record. How is that an example of how we want to be? I don't want us to be like that Knicks, however I am not going to hate on a GM that gambled on a roster and lost and is now trying his best to rectify the situation. I blame Larry brown more for failing to make that roster work.
  18. He is a small powerforward, Skinny C. We might as well put Smoove at center.
  19. I am sorry that we don't have the same facts that you get from the super secret clubhouse meetings..my bad.
  20. And why is that far fetched? He is the same size as Peja.
  21. Quote: anyone who thinks that lamarcus will play a single minute at small forward in the NBA should have his internet privileges removed. The same can be said by people who think that he can play center. Hell Chillz played PF at times in college.
  22. Quote: Obviouly we'd take Oden over Lamarcus, but that's not an option. We'd also have drafted LeBron over Marvin, but was that an opportunity for us> Oden is being billed as a once in a generation player (HYPE!). There aren't any of those in this draft. So because there's no Oden, we should settle for Shelden? I am saying that we are going to draft Aldridge and still not fill our need for a center. He will end up playing PF..or even SF.
  23. Quote: Quote: Phoenix hasn't done that bad either, considering when we hired Billy Knight, they sucked as bad as we do now. Phonix's GM is Colangelo. When we hired Billy Knight: The Suns had Amare Stoudemire; Joe Johnson; Stephon Marbury and Shawn Marion. The Hawks had Shareef Abdur Rahim and Jason Terry. There is a slight discrepency in the star power on those rosters. We didn't have anyone as valuable as any of the top 4 players on the Suns roster. Now, it is true that Phoenix's GM got some moron to take Marbury's ridiculous contract which allowed them the flexibility to sign Steve Nash and vastly improve. He should get bigtime kudos for that and generally is an outstanding GM but you can't really compare the two teams from that point in time given their relative talent and that fact that Babcock traded away our lottery pick before BK arrived. (I forget who that idiot was who took Marbury but I am sure that whoever that GM is, he has carefully built a team to emphasize some guys that can contribute without the ball in their hands and who can provide a defensive presence to allow Marbury to thrive if you are going to pay him that much). touche
