  1. I want Jones, Murphy, and/or BI. Since BI is the most available, I’d be more than happy to get him.  I wanted him before he signed his latest contract because I knew he was it.
He fits positionally better than DJM. We need wing depth, and we don’t need DJM and Trae back court. Kill two birds with one stone.
Contract wise, you can’t compare the two. Yeah Murray’s is on a better deal for relatively similar stats, but 6’1” pgs aren’t as in demand as big wings are right now.
    Gimme.

  2. Updated my big board a little now that we know we get one pick in the lottery. Fine tune it once we find out what pick we will get.

    1. Zaccharie Risacher, SG/SF
    2. Alexandre Sarr, PF/C
    3. Donovan Clingan, C
    4. Cody Williams, SF/PF
    5. Kyle Filipowski, PF/C
    6. Matas Buzelis, SF
    7. Ron Holland, SF
    8. Zach Edey, C
    9. Kel’el Ware, C
    10. Yves Missi, C
    11. Dalton Knecht, SG/SF
    12. Reed Sheppard, PG
    13. Johnny Furphy, SF
    14. Stephon Castle, PG
    15. Tristan da Silva, SF/PF
    16. Tyler Smith, PF
    17. Ryan Dunn, PF

(More than the 14 lotto picks, but leaving a little wiggle room in case we trade down in this draft)

    General question:

Why is it that when it’s time to flip our players we usually get MORE hosed than the average franchise..

it’s like around the league you hear..

Well Cam Reddish doesn’t have value..

John Collins value around the league isn’t that high…

Teams around the league don’t value …

    Hunter..

The list goes on and on..

But if a different franchise have say like a Jerome James from the Sonics back in the day… wow he is looked at as a huge addition ➕ in the trade market. Huh? 🤨

I mean I get it as far as $ to ability but why aren’t our players valued high for the last 40 years. None.

We gave up Gasol for Shareef but what did we unload Shareef for?

I dunno it just seems like our players are hosed as well as our team around the league.

It’s bull$hit. It’s like racism in a way. I dunno I’m losin it take over @kg01 before AHF spanks me again.

We also often don’t trade players at the best time. Either we trade when their value is low, or when other teams know our back is against the wall and have to accept whatever crap we can just so we don’t walk away empty handed.

They could have gotten a lot more from JC if they traded him the for year he was on the block instead of the third year when he just finished the worst year of his career thanks to the finger injury. Jazz bought low and it paid off for them.

I don't want Edey at all, because I don't want to see Atlanta have to slow down all their processes on offense and defense to accommodate his slowness.  I'll take Ulrich Chomche at 10 before I would take Edey.  I also don't want to see Atlanta become a slow-paced post oriented offense like the crap Purdue runs.

*Cue Supes’ combine sprint numbers 😂

I mean, I get it. It’s not the preferred pace of play, but at the same time, we need options. We can’t count on OO to do it all.
    1) We can’t keep giving it up to other teams’ oafs.
    2) Pace slows down in the playoffs and reliable scoring options are required. Edey can provide that.

He can be a good option even if he’s not the best option.

I don't hate Hunter but it might be good for a change of scenery for both parties.  He'd  probably do well in Denver or Cleveland.   Not sure who we replace him with though unless we go after BI.

    I agree.
The biggest problem with Hunter and his value here is there is no one capable of backing him up or replacing him if he’s hurt or traded. Unless they move JJ to more SF, but then we have the same issue at PF.

I wouldn’t mind if we moved him, but we need to go after more than one player to replace him. BI is a good start, but we would need a capable back up.

Honestly, BI starting and Hunter backing him up off the bench may actually be the best scenario. Both are injury prone and both are capable of starting when the other misses time.

Drummond played 11 minutes in the play in game.  I'm not taking someone with the 10th pick so I can have a size on size match up with a player like Drummond, who has essentially no impact on the game at all.

And he also had a 24 pt/25 rb game against us. When Andre freaking Drummond can do that to you, you need help.

It’s situational. We need size bc we don’t have it now. No one drafted this year is going to be starting for us.

I'm not saying Edey is the best option, but to dismiss him so hard is a little over the top IMO. I would take an OO/Edey/Bruno rotation over a OO/CC/Bruno rotation any day.

I’ll be happy if we walk away with Clingan (top choice), Sarr, Filip, Edey, or Ware. All of these guys could contribute year one on a limited basis. Maybe even Missi, but moreso if we trade down for him bc he will take a year or two before he can contribute.

The Hawks trying to trade Trae over Murray is false.

His trade value has falling is true. It has significantly falling across the league.

I can't say I disagree. Murray is better and he's a smooth fit at PG for teams like NO, PHX, ORL, etc. You gotta build around Trae and that's not easy to do. We know. That said, Trae is the one that can carry a franchise. Not Murray which shouldn't be his role anyway.

Hopefully he goes to NO, a WC team with better assets than PHX. ORL would never give up the ransom that would make it worth trading him there for us to play against all the time.

One of the things the Bulls did to Atlanta in the play in game is they pretty much camped Vujcevic at the top of the key.  That effectively puled Clint away from the basket.  With Atlanta's lack of ball containment ability on the perimeter, their guards could drive to the basket at will.  Clint is too slow to recover and rim protect when he's pulled away like that.  Zach Edey will have the same problem.  Teams will not only attack him with the PNR, but they will effectively pull him away from the basket and take advantage of his inability to recover quickly and move from perimeter to post on defense.

Another thing Bulls liked to do was bring in Drummond to dump the ball into the paint, which we had no answer for.

Edey and OO are both situational players. Edey to go against the big oafs who camp in the paint, and OO for the stretch bigs.

It’s not an either/or thing where we only want 7’ centers, it’s about having options. And right now between OO, CC, and Bruno, we have no options against big boys.

OO = primary and stretch 5

    Edey = Big big 5

    Bruno = 3rd string 5

    CC = dead weight

What if the Kings realize they'll be in the lottery at #13 anyway and tank a few games to try and keep their pick? What then?

We win the draft lottery and it goes straight to SAS.

They’d have to land pretty squarely in the lottery and outside the play ins to feel comfortable with rolling the dice to tank.

Is 2025 the last year for it to be a 1rp before it converts to 2rps? If so, then yeah, they’d probably be more open to gamble.

This is a move that has me actually believing they’ll pay the tax next year. With ressler however it’s always wait and see

I believe Ressler will go over the luxury tax line, but only in the last 12-18 months before he plans to sells the team. He’ll want to pump up the value of the team, but sell before he’s on the hook to pay repeater tax charges.

In a completely unrelated note, how’s that development of his brother’s coming along?

OKC tanked for so many years. We only tanked for two years.

It seems like they were tanking forever and it is JUST NOW starting to pay off. By the time they may be able to actually achieve anything, they’re going to have to let players go bc they can’t pay everyone to stay in OKC.

I'd like to actually see them win something before admitting what they’ve done is the right way. They’re still living life high on hype/hope/potential fumes.

SA has the advantage of having drafted a player who looks like he could be a generational, perennial MVP candidate (and a big man to boot).  Once you have that, the path to being championship caliber is much shorter than a team like the Hawks so no argument there.  SA did what we did - they sold off players for picks and tanked to get high draft picks.  The big difference is they got the #1 pick in one of those no brainer drats like LeBron, Duncan, etc.  Atlanta has ended up with the #4, 5, 6 and 10 picks in drafts that didn't have that kind of player.

If you could guarantee me Shaq 2.0 or Wemby 2.0 or Duncan 2.0, etc. if the Hawks tore down and worked to rebuild then I'd be on board rebuilding instead of retooling.  But the reality is that this is a rare thing and the vast majority of high lottery picks don't end up being nearly as good as those championship cornerstones.  Most teams that go through this process go through years of pain before emerging on the other side.

When we already have Trae and JJ as high upside players on the roster to go with some nice pieces (I'd include OO, Hunter and Kobe among the young pieces), I think working further to try to succeed with those players makes more sense especially given that our starting point is not having control of our 2024, 2025, and 2026 picks.  We are already behind the 8-ball in a rebuild situation so that tilts towards trying to retool and then falling back on rebuilding when we own our picks in a few years if we fall on our face.

Hell, even if you are lucky enough to draft a player like that it doesn’t guaranteed you anything. Shaq never won anything in Orlando.
