If the Hawks, by some miracle, get a top 3 pick, who are you drafting?

Someone once told me I’m known around these parts for being a contrarian. I don’t know if I believe that, but I’m going to lean into here.
Keep one: JC. I think he’s much better than what he has been the past 18 months. I think his hand + Nate really messed him up, but we’ve slowly started to see him come out of it. If we trade him, we are selling low, we get nothing back in return and the other team profits.
As for not keeping CC or DH? I think they will bring back much more value in any trade.
I wouldn’t mind if we trading JC at the next trade deadline or offseason if Quin gets his value up and we can sell higher.
Asset management.
Now get to this (where the contrarian really shines)…Keep Two: CC and DH. I think only moving one player is more likely to be a salary dump move. JC and CC can’t play together, so it has to be one of those two to go. CC’s contract is shorter and cheaper, so moving JC offers more cap savings. We can roll with a front court rotation of CC-OO-JJ-DH if need be.
TBH, I’m not in love with any of these players, so if any of them leave, I won’t be heartbroken. I personally like JC the most, even if he’s the worst performer. I think his stock has more room to rise over the next year though.
I feel pretty good about what I picked last year.
JC was the best of the three. We ended up only trading one and keeping CC and Dre. Nostradamus like, reallyBogi, Dre, and CC is harder. Common sense says keep Bogi/Bogi+Dre. But if we trade CC, it will likely cost us but attaching other assets so we can move him. He’s basically a toxic asset.
I’m going to say keep Dre and that’s it. He means more to us than he would for any other team. We can’t get rid of him unless we are bringing in two replacement level players to play SF in separate deals.
We should trade Bogi either this offseason or in January and trade CC in January.
Bogi will bring the best return and I’m still not 100% sold on him staying healthy. Sell high.
Clint’s value will be highest at the trade deadline as an expiring contract. -

I'm not convinced that you can built a team around Trae that can win in the long term. Especially if you have incompetent people at the top. Which is a problem the Hawks have.
Then there is literally nothing that can/will be done to improve the team. In which case, who cares.

If Landry can get New Orleans to give up Herb Jones or Trey Murphy in a deal for DJM, do it. If he can convince Orlando to give up Isaac and picks for Murray, do it. If he can get LA to give up Reaves and picks for Murray, do it. Hell no on Ingram though.
Isaac or Reaves for Murray? Didn’t you just say we shouldn’t do any dumb trades?

Trading Murray for BI would be a classic buy low (BI end of season)/Sell high (DJM end of season).

How close do you se the Hawks making this list? Pretty damn close to me if not officially on it while Spurs control our picks and we’re already at the luxury tax line.

Now that 2023-2024 is over for the Hawks, shouldn’t we start a new thread for 2024-2025? Or do we have to wait for the rest of the league to finish their season too?

...and on that note, do we really need a guy we know will end up in our already full and overflowing Hawkspital.
55, 45, 64 - number of games played over the last 3 seasons.
You’re right. We need to focus our attention on bringing in Jonathan Isaac instead.

Ain't this the truth... So many GM's are afraid of letting these guys walk and get baited into overpaying.
AA knows how to GM.. can he be the GM of Falcons, Braves, and Hawks at the same time

Hawks just watched the Falcons draft and decided to draft a PG in the lottery.

I want Jones, Murphy, and/or BI. Since BI is the most available, I’d be more than happy to get him. I wanted him before he signed his latest contract because I knew he was it.
He fits positionally better than DJM. We need wing depth, and we don’t need DJM and Trae back court. Kill two birds with one stone.
Contract wise, you can’t compare the two. Yeah Murray’s is on a better deal for relatively similar stats, but 6’1” pgs aren’t as in demand as big wings are right now.

Seems low: an oft injured guy who is limited to roughly 15mpg and I definitely don't like the protections on that pick. I'd also take Anthony Black.
I’d want a whole lot more if we’re trading him within our division.

General question:
Why is it that when it’s time to flip our players we usually get MORE hosed than the average franchise..
it’s like around the league you hear..
Well Cam Reddish doesn’t have value..
John Collins value around the league isn’t that high…
Teams around the league don’t value …
Hunter..
The list goes on and on..
But if a different franchise have say like a Jerome James from the Sonics back in the day… wow he is looked at as a huge addition in the trade market. Huh?
I mean I get it as far as $ to ability but why aren’t our players valued high for the last 40 years. None.
We gave up Gasol for Shareef but what did we unload Shareef for?
I dunno it just seems like our players are hosed as well as our team around the league.
It’s bull$hit. It’s like racism in a way. I dunno I’m losin it take over @kg01 before AHF spanks me again.
We also often don’t trade players at the best time. Either we trade when their value is low, or when other teams know our back is against the wall and have to accept whatever crap we can just so we don’t walk away empty handed.
They could have gotten a lot more from JC if they traded him the for year he was on the block instead of the third year when he just finished the worst year of his career thanks to the finger injury. Jazz bought low and it paid off for them.

Unfortunately that's like 60 million in the SF position.
At least we won’t also be paying 60 million for our backcourt too!
